Reverse Cycle Split System Air Conditioner $599 no shipping no installation

31
Soft start
LED light
Temperature sensing
Fixed speed cooling and heating
6.4kW cooling power
6.6kW heating power
Includes remote control

I reckon it's not bad price for a 6.4kw cooling unit.

Did a comparison with fujitsu indoor and outdoor unit noise level seems to be matching up if not quieter.

Can't find any review of this model so can't comment on the quality.

planning to get 2 of this when it comes on sale 19th oct.

    $500 for instllation ;(

I got a 1.5hp/3.5kw panasonic inverter fulli installed for $1250 @ bluestar airconditiOn.. Ofcorse more expensive den aldi but good reliable brand and company.. Goodguys sell the aircOn alone was $1099.. So basically i got the instllation for $150 ..

  • Install is so expensive! I want a small AC for my room which is tiny but it will still cost over 1k. Portable systems suck.

Energy rating, 1.5/2 stars for cooling/heating!! That will suck your pocket away.

    • yep…. its junk!

it doesnt cost much more to get a quality inverter, which will make up the difference the very first summer you use it. (the panasonic mentioned above is a prime example)

dont do it folks…. install costs are the same for whatever you buy, but running costs and performance is not.

    • The more recent energy rating revisions are stricter, so ACs that had 4-6 stars on the old labels suddenly dropped to 1-3 stars. For a 6-7kW split, only a few models get more than 2 stars for cooling.

That said, small reductions in efficiency can easily add up to $100/year or more in additional running costs for a big AC like this, and with only a 2-year warranty and probably lower reliability than the respected brands, the greater risk of expensive repair costs needs to be considered as well.

Looks like this unit isn't an inverter. If you want a cheap chinese unit like this, you might be better off getting a 6.1kW unit inverter here - http://www.esold.com.au/catalog/default.php?cPath=23

If you go with the Aldi, make sure it's R410a gas and not R22. Also, if you live in a hot climate and will be using this long term, I would spend a bit more and get a brand name budget product like a Kelvinator. I nearly bought a 7kW Akai from Bunnings for $1070 but ended up getting a 7kW Kelvinator from Good Guys for $1100.

    • well said mate.

  • always buy inverter, it will save your money, especially if you need to turn it on 12 hrs a day on summer time.

    • It only saves you money if you are using it in the low-medium settings. If the A/C would be running at maximum capacity in a hot summer's day — an on/off type system doesn't save you money.

Inverters actually use slightly more power if you are using them at maximum capacity due to the loses in converting the AC to DC.

However, inverters give a more constant temperature.

  • DO you know how many energy stars are on this A/C?
Lower the quality, lower the energy rating = higher energy usage.

    • 1.5 stars cooling, 2 stars heating :(

  • Not a rep btw, but Domain produce excellent quality Inverter systems

    http://www.domainair.com.au/air-conditioners/inverter-split-…

They all use Panasonic compressors btw

  • The compressor housings on these cheap Chinese units tend to rust away in a year or three… It can also be very difficult to find anyone who will service them, plus parts are often unobtainable. Spend the extra and get a well known brand name in an inverter. You'll more than make up the difference in outlay with lower power bills and longevity of the unit.

  • Great deal.. but I just bought 2x Mitsubishi unit for $1500 for two bedrooms upstairs. extremly quiet 19DB

  • I hope they bring out a daily deal where you get a good quality aircon including install for $800 or so. just want a small unit in the bedroom.
