  • I am using this app from almost a year. It is a really good app and does what it says.

Really good replacement for CamScanner, which you shouldn't be using at all. Sources: 1 and 2

Yes, I was horrified when I recently found out that CamScanner, the full version of which I have been using for years, has been bought by the Communist China's Intelligence Corporation. I have been using the app's cloud service to store confidential documents, which really helps when swapping (or losing) phones. The question is, how do I migrate everything over? May be a moot point since I'm on iOS at the moment.

You guys have confidence in this developer? based in Russia it seems.

        • Thanks - I didn't pick up on that. Having said that, there are a lot of solid apps created by Russian devs (think PowerAmp) but I'd be concerned with something as sensitive as this.

If you are on iOS, I would 100% recommend readdle app. One the best app out there which unfortunately I cannot find a close match in android.

        • Totally agree. All of Readdle's apps are top notch.

Just searched and found "Documents by Readdle" - thanks will give it a try. I'm only on iOS because of work so would ideally prefer a service that works well on both platforms. Is Readdle better than Office Lens?

EDIT: $82 per year? I've never deleted an app so fast :-)

    • It's worth mentioning that CamScanner was republished without the offending ad modules.

    • Thanks, currently using camscanner..

  • Great app. Using it since last 2 years. Very handy.

  • Downloaded. Thanks op.

    This vs AdobeScan?

  • This vs Genius Scan?

You can use Google drive app to scan documents as well. It will allow to adjust scan area. I have been using this to scan documents and its working great for me.

  • I swear by Clearscanner.
The pro version was only a once of charge of a few dollars.

    I wonder how this compares?

I think Officelens is the best

    • This. It's free and most likely going to be supported going forward.

  • Thanks mate

Google and Microsoft both have their own versions of this

    • But they are always free so aren't a "deal"

  • +3

    I would use Office Lens.
It is free, made by Microsoft so probably won't steal your data and likely to be supported for future Android versions

Google Drive also had the feature and is probably on most Android phones already

Google Drive also has the feature.

      Easy to set up.
Scan your tax invoice straight to your Google Drive "Warranty" or "Tax2020-2021" folder.

  • Great app! Been using for quite a while

Google drive works for me but thanks

  • thanks OP

I'd been using CamScanner from around it's launch. Amazing piece of software. The edge finder and adjustments were bang on. Uninstalled after the security red flags. Just reinstalled it and OfficeLens a couple of weeks ago. The scan quality on CamScanner has noticeably declined (on my S9). OfficeLens does no better. MDScan produces a noticeably better capture image, however the edge finder and adjustments are less adept. I believe, from digging into the MDScan app settings, that MD uses its own camera app. This might be why it's better than CamScanner and a OfficeLens - the S9 stock camera might be the issue. I'm really unimpressed with the recent S9 updates. Stuffed up battery life, and swype keyboard. And Android Auto no longer responds to voice commands - but I digress. :-)

  • It's built into samsung camera

!!! A word to all Adobe Scan users. !!!
If you're not already aware - the app saves all scans on the Adobe cloud and offers no warning of this. It's a good app but it offered no clear warning of this nor does it allow one to opt out. Will absolutely not work for me. Epic fail Google - the only requested and granted permission was Use Camera. Arrggggg. Don't want my personal documents scattered across the freaking internet. User beware.

  • Thanks I was looking for a good replacement for the readdle one I use to use on my iPhone. Works quite well

    • Scannerpro by Readdle on iOS was my favourite scanner app!
When I went to Android I tried a few, and the closest I found was Clearscanner.
The free version works fine, but I likes it so much I upgraded to the pro version for one of charge of a few dollars (unlike the subscription model of some of the others).
Give Clearscanner a try! And if you find one that is better I'd love to know.
