Plenty of places with Myer Gift cards discounts ranging from 5 - 8 %

..Well.. firstly, people do have more than one person in their family, so 2 sets would not be unheard of.
Secondly, you don’t have to buy the same second item to get the discount.
Thirdly, Amazon’s prices are often matched prices from other stores, so it’s then a reflection of if other stores (including Myer) have 25%off etc.
Finally… $45 is less than $48.
Gifting to multiple people, keeping one, building one into a project and having one complete on its own etc etc.
Plenty of reasons for people to buy 2.
I have more than a theory due to the high AUD OZ is now getting priority on many LEGO sets a prime example is Assembly Square that has been flooded here . Use to sell for $550 prior to the Amazon flood . Of course the motive is Disney profits . Architecture all models has seen similar floods .
