FFalcon 40F1 40" Full HD LED TV $269 @ JB Hi-Fi

130

Saw this deal in todays Herald Sun (VIC) and thought it was a decent price. Not 'Smart' as such, but Full HD LED Panel in 40" or 101.6cm for under $270 seems worth sharing. Can anyone comment on FFalcon?

      But this is cheaper?

      • But not smart.

Connecting a Chromecast or Apple TV is hard.

          • @simplexion: Yes, but is also more money. This is cheaper, as long as you dont need to use it for Chromecast/Apple TV/whatever in addition.

            • @Franc-T: I hate "smart" TVs. A display can last a very long time. It's smarts will not last anywhere near as long. Adding smarts with an external device is superior by a long way.

                This 100%.

Ffalcon became JBs budget line a little while ago.

From memory they ditched Soniq for them.

I guess at that price you get what you pay for.

  • I have 2 of these. For the price they work well. I use them with Apple TV, HDMI power on takes about 5 seconds.

They do have an extremely bright standby light but this can be disabled in the settings.

  • According to price hipster, its been cheaper…

These are made by TCL, their very low budget line brand. They have been rebaged many times by others including the EKO bigw brand and Seiki sold by amazon and appliance online

  • I bought two of these at $298 a little while ago, to replace the ones in my parents living room and bedroom. The ONLY reason i picked these is because they already have Chromcast Ultra with their old tv, so can be used on this "not very smart" tv perfectly.

At the time of purchase, the smart TVs with the same size, are at leaat $499. So no brainer.

Without the chromecast, i wouldnt pick this and definitely go for a real SMART TV.

  • Got this hook up to the Vodafone TV box. Unlike other cheap TV this have HDMI CEC, so only need the Vodafone box remote to control.

  • Anyone have the Kogan 40" GF7500? How does it compare with this?

  • We have the 50. It's ok for the price. The blacks are quite grey :/ Motion and colour seem ok.

    • But High contrast ratio 5000:1…..

  • So much F.

$50 more will get you another 2 inches and Android TV for those interested. https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/blaupunkt-…

I think the same can be had on preorder from Kogan.

    • Hmm, that's tempting.

      Also is 60Hz TV…..the FFalcon's are 50 I believe?

      Edit; Good luck finding stock.

I got one a couple of weeks ago. It's ok for the price. The Android menu is running at 720, not 1080, which is annoying. Videos still play at native res (1080). I used ADB to change the res of Android and it looks better. Changing the animation settings to 0.5x also makes Android seem faster.

  • This set is dead last for performance in current roundup of 34 TV's tested by Choice, and by quite some margin… A standout performance!

    Better Falcons about :)
