Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 2H $139, 3H $189, Pro $239 + Delivery/Free with Kogan First (Direct Import) @ Kogan

220

The Xiaomi purifiers sale returns on Kogan. This time the 3H and Pro are $10 cheaper than the previous deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/543961.
Good prices if you have free shipping through Kogan First (there's a free trial).
Or pay $11.99 for one month of First membership, consider it your maximum shipping cost, which gives you free shipping for the rest of the Kogan stuff you buy that month.
Don't forget to activate Cash Rewards for 2% cash back.
NOTE: These are global imported models so come with overseas power cables. My experience and others were that Kogan sent the Australian power cables separately, sometimes a week later. If not, contact their support, they will either give you a $5 refund or $15 credit. It may take 2 weeks and some reminders, but it gets resolved eventually. If not, rant here for all to see ;-)

The Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 2H and 3H comes with True HEPA filter that eliminates PM2.5 more effectively. All work with Mi Home, Google Assistant and Alexa to offer convenient control.

  • With the Mi Home APP, does it working with China or AU server?

    • I got the Pro (Global version) from Kogan, it only works with China server for me.

      • What's the model number you got? A comment from previous deal says otherwise. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/8704380/redir

        • I remember it ends in CN, i think the seller sent me the China version instead of Global. Kogan did offer a refund but I can't be bother sending it back and it came with a free figure 8 cable too.

          • @WIND: Same, got the last deal and got send the CN version, so it will only work on the Xiaomi China Server, which means no Google Home compatability.

            • @LeslieT: So Kogan is purposedly shipping CN versions advertised as global versions? That's messed up and no one care?

              • @Arese: I actually cared enough to ask for a replacement only for them to send me another Chinese version. Emailing them since the 12th of July. I encourage everyone to do the same. The person who got back to me thought it was a phone at first took 2 days for them to understand and issue an exchange.

    • I have transferred all my Xiaomi devices onto the AU servers, all works fine.
Also could change language to english on my Vacs.

  • How do the 2H & 3H compare (to themselves and other options)? Are the filters good value?

Tempted for a $139 purifier, but don't know anything about them.

    • see the table in the middle of the page here: https://www.mi-store.com.au/which-xiaomi-air-purifier-is-bes...

I’ve seen other people mention that these are purifiers are one of the worst.

So bad that you may as well use a box fan with a hepa filter stuck on the front.

      • Wow! Any chance you remember their reasoning? Or perhaps could point me at such a conversation?

        • John Kimble found it.

      • other people mention that these are purifiers are one of the worst…. Evidence ??

        • Probably this https://smartairfilters.com/en/blog/xiaomi-auto-mode-leaves-...

But that is on the v2 and main issue is the auto mode is crap…just don't use auto mode.

          • @John Kimble: Okay … But what version are the ones Kogan are selling? I couldn't see anything about a version, they could be v2 as well?

Also: Your own link says that the real problem isn't that auto mode is crap per se, but that it REVERTS back to auto mode every 3 hours … So you apparently can't NOT use auto mode?

Edit: And then there's this section which says the sensor is just worthless … Which means you're paying for a device that is basically a filter and a box fan, because you can't tell how hard you need to run the fan in order to keep particulates under control - especially when a bad day for it comes along.

(Offtopic: Man, why do bargain products, especially the Chinese crap, almost always have these additional complications? … )

            • @Grazz989:

But what version are the ones Kogan are selling?

It's in the title. 2H, 3H and Pro.

Also: Your own link says that the real problem isn't that auto mode is crap per se, but that it REVERTS back to auto mode every 3 hours … So you apparently can't NOT use auto mode?

I'm confident I've used my 3H on high for over 3 hours…I can try and run it today to confirm.

              • @John Kimble: Pardon?

How does 2H, 3H, etc relate? The number isn't the version. I.e. the 3H is NOT version 3. There's a v.2 version of both models mate.

Hmm. I wonder if Kogan would accept a return if it has that issue ….

The concern with the sensor being awful and useless isn't great either - aid like to know how bad the air actually was, and how clean it actually is after running it ….

I'm not sure, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt…it was discussed in a bit more detail here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/520870

If you're asking me this, I don't have the answer, sorry.

            • +2

@Grazz989: Yep, have had it on full all day, hasn't reverted to auto mode.

              • +1

@John Kimble: Bit late, but might be of use to someone.
I have the v.2 I don't use Auto mode, I have it on a schedule through the google home app. Turns on 6am to 10am and 3pm to 7pm as that's the most trafficked times in our house, kicking up dust, open windows etc.
The sensor usually reads within 2 to 6 of the nearest sensor to me on aqicn.org.
When I burn a roast in the kitchen, the reading will shoot up from around 5, to around 180, about 30 seconds after I open the oven door (the device is about 15meters away).

                • +1

@LinkMonkey: Yeah, I don't trust the reading to be honest, I just set it to a speed/noise level I'm comfortable with.

Max reading is 600 on my 3H. Use it in the kitchen when cooking steaks, it helps a bit during cooking (smoke alarm doesn't go off anymore) but it is still a bit smokey sometimes. Smell clears a lot quicker when done cooking if we leave it in the kitchen for a bit afterwards.

We have have two filters and keep one for cooking and one for all other times, otherwise the bedroom smells like steak!

              • +1

@John Kimble: Cool - Alright, that's convincing enough for me. Cheers!

  • Does anyone have the 3H and have you paired it to the Mi Home app? I can’t get my app to detect the 3H, even though the wifi icon is flashing.

    • Which server did you try it on, Aus or China?

      • China. I’ll try forgetting and reconnecting to my wifi as suggested below.

    • Try to reset your phone wifi. I have the 3H and can not connect it to my phone. Disconnect phone wifi (forget network if you are using android), reconnect and it works.

    • Yep, working fine.

    • I’ve also got it working fine on the “Australia” servers.

  • I bought the 3H back around Feb this year and shortly after, the fan started to make this scraping noise - anyone else experienced this?

    • +1

Nope. Perhaps something fell in and got lodged in the fan?

This is the 2, but it might help guide you if you want to try and open to see?

Otherwise, probably consider a warranty claim?

      • Thanks, will check it out.
I emailed for some help when it happened, but received no response….
