  • nice find! love a button-lock blade

    • It’s a liner lock. The button is for opening the blade, from memory it’s a non-spring inertia flip blade.

I've got one but have been told by a police friend that it's actually classed as a assisted opening knife (which includes knives that can be flicked open by centrifugal force etc) and is technically illegal.
Anyway, I love this knife and don't care.

    • +3

      It's not a flick blade, it's a "smooth Blade"! ;)

I know you are getting downvotes, but I think you are correct.
It would be something you would have to argue with cops about in any case.
      The NSW legislation, for example:
      https://legislation.nsw.gov.au/#/view/act/1998/127/historica…

“ (1) A flick knife (or other similar device) that has a blade which opens automatically by gravity or centrifugal force or by any pressure applied to a button, spring or device in or attached to the handle of the knife.”

Interesting list of banned weapons! Dart pipes, slap gloves, electrified briefcases, hand cuffs.

        • +1

well they'll have to take my furry handcuffs from my cold, dead wrists

          • @tdw: They can take my electrified briefcases when they pry them from my cold, dead victims' arses

          • @tdw: Surely furry handcuffs would make them warm dead wrists?

      • +2

Thanks. I think the "OR" part of the statement makes this knife ok. This knife is button press AND centrifugal (unlike a flick knife which is just a button press). I'll ask my mate.

      • +2

It looks like the knife in this deal has a locking mechanism that you need to undo?

If it does, it won't fall within that definition.

So in my eyes, that actually shows that it isn't illegal

    Thats not a knife!

  • Will it protect you in Blacktown?

    Says 00S for me

  • Is it rust-resistant if I use it for diving?

    • +2

As an experienced scuba diver. This would be a poor knife for diving. As salt water will linger between the blade and the handle. As a cave diver. I use cut down steak knives (with a blade cut down to about 4cm). You can find them at Woolies or Coles on the cheap. I went through my cave diving courses which required me to cut myself out of lines purposefully wrapped around my tanks and myself. Using my getto knife. I was able to cut myself out in less time that those with fancy pants knives. It does depend on what you plan to use your knife for though. My getto knife is primarily used to cut lines. It's not very useful for prying or "tank banging".

      • Thanks for your insights. I'll bring a steak knife with a proper case next time when I spearfishing. LoL.

  • Tempted, $6.5 delivery for me

Good for showy vloggers who need a ridiculously large knife to cut open a tiny piece of tape on unboxing vids

    • +3

I was thinking it's great for shelf stockers, so they can cut right through into the items.

    • It’s a midsize folder… I was going to say “do you even edc, bro?” but then remembered that would be illegal in many parts of Australia.

  • +1

    "Clearance item out of stock."

Also If its your birthday in July and you have an account you get $10 credit.

  • Delivery estimated at $6 for metro melbourne but jumps to $23.58 at checkout…

  • Is it a good value overall?
Or there are better (better steel) versions which are priced similar?

    • +3

It’s a Stainless steel drop-point blade. Better blades out there but at this price and this build quality overall makes this a a good buy.

  • My order was canceled yesterday. They notified me that they were out stock and unable to order from supplier as it is no longer available or obsolete. They tried source out from a different store, however, no other store countrywide has this item still in stock.

    • I ordered one from the kewdale perth store yesterday but haven't heard back yet.

      • still shows in stock at O'Connor

  • Mine arrived quickly yesterday, can confirm the build quality is pretty solid, not sure if blade will last long until used for a period of time

    • Do you have to manually pry the lock in order to fold the blade? The button only works to allow it to unfold on mine, not to fold.

      • Correct need to pry the lock to fold back the blade, it is for safety, and button only to unfold the blade, my other knife have same mechanic hope it helps

    picked up mine today.
what i like: has a nice weight to it so feels sturdy. good build quality all round; nice, smooth, rounded edges which won't add wear to your clothes. they've managed to keep the handle grippy without needing super-aggressive grip pattern. feels ergonomic, even in my small hands. blade is thick and solid (heh). also a straight edge and not half-serrated (serrated blades aren't bad, just a PITA to sharpen) opening action is smooth after being initially stiff (you'll need to play with it to break it in). it's bright red and quite cute! so not so "threatening" to the knife haters who would see an all-black knife and freak out.

not so keen on: the liner lock. i've never liked liner locks because they just don't suit my fingers. it's a little easier when i'm wearing work gloves, just not the nitrile ones.

overall i'm pretty happy with it for the price. it's a bit too big and heavy for me to carry all the time, but will leave one in the car

    • What will happen if police found a knife in your car?

      • Lol does that happen to you a lot it's such a concern?
