great stuff ShoppingExpress thankyou for listening to people in forum & popping in here to answer questions

    • +1

thanks. In time, if anyone feels ready, it will be appreciated and welcome that a "google+" or like on facebook as a shown of satisfaction with what we offer.

      • done.

  • +1

A notification of this reward will be sent to everyone that previously bought the laptop from ozbargain, to ensure that no one misses out on the offer to get warranty upgrades.

    • That would be great. I really like the way you guys are handling members.

Thanks for listening to us :)

  • Which of the USB ports are USB 3.0? The ones on the left or right? All four ports look identical? Got nothing to test it with.

    • sorry, wish i could help…

      • +1

But this definitely has USB 3.0 right? That's more the point I'm trying to make

        • Check the port inside. USB 3.0 normally are blue.

        • Cant seem to reply to your post zchoanyy.

Also the USB ports are black. Does this mean it's only USB 2? That would be an issue then.

        • This is from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_3.0

"Since USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports may coexists on the same machine and look similar USB 3.0 Connector is Blue (Pantone 300C) in colour."

According to HP website, this model should have two USB 3.0 ports and this is another reason i buy this laptop.

I did a little bit search on the internet and found out the USB 3.0 ports should be on the left hand side which has RJ-45 network jack and microphone jack. Hope this helps.

        • Thanks zchoanyy. I checked and it's definitely black connectors. I've always thought USB 3.0 is blue. Hmmm … There is an SS label under the port, which stands for "SuperSpeed".

Hope the ShoppingExpress could comment on this. Surely they should know something about this.

      • There is an SS label under the port, which stands for "SuperSpeed". <== this is the correct assumption, as mentioned by HP specs:
        2 USB 2.0
        2 SuperSpeed USB 3.0
as to why it is not blue, i need to check out on monday with HP to see if i can get a more adequate answer.

    • The USB3 ports are on the left. I bought a Seagate 1TB 2.5" drive and get transfer speeds of 32MB p/s (around 32 seconds per GB). I have also installed a 120GB flash drive in the notebook so it's silent and very fast.

  • I will get the extra warranty after i get the laptop.
Just realized i didn't put ozbargain1 code and you guys already shipped my order(too fast…). I think i just get the standard shipping. Hopefully nothing wrong will happen in delivery, otherwise…..

    • Don't use ozbargain1 when you buy the warranty. Use this exclusive for you guys:

      Coupon Code: freeshipping-warranty

This will make the warranty delivered to you free, and any items ordered together will get delivered free too! This code only works for you and others that bought before the extended warranty was available.

      • Sorry, I meant I didn't put ozbargain1 coupon code when I ordered this laptop. So I only get the delivery without insurance. What if something happens during delivery?

Just an update on my order though ShoppingExpress, I jumped on board this offer the first time round, arrived within 4 days as ordered. I swapped out the HDD for an SSD, and I am VERY happy, great spec laptop for a great price and a great shopping experience.

    Great work ShoppingExpress.

    • +1

Hmmm.. Which SSD did you put in? Also can you please check the colour of the USB 3.0 slots. Is it blue or black? Meant to be on the left side beside the LAN. Thanksm

    • Same thing as me Steve, 4 days and it was here so very happy with delivery with Shopping Express. The SSD makes a big difference in performance. I have set my notebook up with a 24" Dell monitor and it works perfectly in 1920x1200. With the notebook lid closed there has been no issues with heat at all. Will give it a bigger workout over the weekend to see its limits.

  • Man, you should have put the warranty sale on at the same time as the original deal, as this was the main sticking point for those of us swayed by the deal from itspot.

  • Got my unit last friday. Thanks ShoppingExpress! I wonder if it's worth getting an extended warranty? $95 used to be $139. So what is the difference with Manufacturer's warrant? I don't quite get the description below.

    $95

The manufacturer's warranty is built into the price, and lasts for one year (although you may be able to argue statutory warranty if it was to break down not long after 12 months as there is a reasonable expectation that the device will last longer than 12 months)

The United Extended Warranty kicks in AFTER the manufacturer's one - so 12 months after you purchase the laptop. The description is for a Platinum 2 year + 1 bonus - so a three year total AFTER the manufacturer's warranty, giving you 4 altogether.

      For the laptop you have purchased, they will organise courier pick-up, transport to a repair centre, fix it, and return it to you via courier. All at no cost to you. If it breaks three times, they will continue to fix it for free. On the fourth time the 'No Lemon' kicks in. This means that rather than repair it, they can replace it with a 'like for like' - in this case most likely a re-furbished laptop. This is the trickiest part as it sounds awesome, but isn't. Basically whatever is cheapest for them they will do… This info from their PDS;

"At U-NITED Warranties’s sole discretion we may replace your product with an equivalent in specifications up to the original purchase price of your product, it is not new for old. The product we supply may be refurbished, have a lower selling price and is not limited to the original manufacturer brand due to availability of technologies or parts. Any difference in replacement price will not be refunded. Upon issue of a replacement product or gift card this will void any remaining term of your Product Care."

Basically you can end up with a 3 year old refurbished Acer laptop to replace your 3 year old HP, although the specs should be similar. Your warranty also ends - no info on warranty on the replacement product…

As the item was above $250 you can ignore the gift card paragraph. Ignore the food and laundry stuff as well!

Make sure you read the product disclosure info here - http://www.hostdata.com.au/brochures/U/united_warranties_fsg…

      The platinum version gives you these extras over the non-platinum;

      • Loan product – on selected items
Note loan is "Subject to availability for IT & AV Products"
      • First priority dedicated 1800 line
So the other customers aren't considered a priority I assume…
      • Data recovery (for failed hard drive)
        Could be useful
      • Bonus 1 year protection
Useful if you keep laptops for 4 years.
      • Replacement cover up to $400
        Irrelevant for you

It is not brilliant, but it should give you a bit of peace of mind if the screen dies, hard drive crashes, ram breaks etc. Also note the 5 year warranty they offer only extends 5 years if there is NO original warranty, as they will warrant a product for a maximum of 5 years INCLUDING any manufacturer's warranty.

Hope this helps. I went with it as the $90 is a kind of insurance policy.

  • Hi Rep,
Time for another good deal. I need another laptop now :)
Are you out of stock for these units?

    • Hi Gagans,

Sorry for the late reply. What type of laptop are you after this time. This particular model needs a break from special at the moment :).

      • I need it as a Spare for my Home Office use ( Happy to use the current HP, as it is quite good price wise):

So same HP :) as warranty deal from you with united elec. is still active.( I misread the same HP deal to be active till 31 oct).
Could not buy that time, as I had a fraud done online on my credit card and it was cancelled. I am issued a new one now.
        or

Quad core i7, 8 gb ram, 15" ( Anti gloss will be better), good graphics card, resolution is not a problem, as I use external monior and frankly does not like too much tiny words in Full HD ( currently on my XPS).
preferred Windows Professional 64 bit ( not mandatory, as I have license for Windows Ultimate).

check the latest deal i posted, i just got this model in

if you decide to get it :)

        • +1

I really appreciate your efforts for the deal. Pretty good laptop. But downside is :
          1. Less RAM( 6GB looks good too).
          2. Keyboard. I like new chicklet styles keyb. Sorry, I did not mention as I thought, almost all laptops are coming with that.
3.downside is GT 525. 6770 is much better. ( Single usb 3. though not that big problem. ).

It is all silver. Darker would be better.
Overall, even if we put extra $ for windows professional. I think HP is a better deal. What do you say?

        • Keyboard. I like new chicklet styles keyb. Sorry, I did not mention as I thought, almost all laptops are coming with that <== (agree to a certain extent as keyboard is subjective to user). For me keyboard on L750 is not too bad to type even old style, and P750 series is even better. As for chiclet style keyboard, each series have different feel to it, and usually the more expensive models(series) gives you better feel, in my experience of touching them (quite some models) :). My personal preference is L750 kb over the HP DV6 as i like the sound of typing :): HP is softer. (you might want to visit your local retail to test both)

Video card - depends on the use of this laptop, but as seldom will Toshiba models sell cheaper than HP specs to specs, i have to say the HP model may sound more a better deal if you need laptop with better video card. :)

Also the CPU of Toshiba is higher and newer, therefore, may give you more performance if you need it more for office use?

Lastly, if this does not suit you, there always will be another deal? I should have HP laptops coming in the weeks coming, (may not be same model, so if you think the HP specs most suit your needs, hold your horses for a while longer?

        • No Problem. I am not in rush. I already have a full loaded XPS 17", i7 2670QM, 8 GB RAM, Nvidea 555m 2 GB, Blue ray writer, win. professional,..

I can hold my breath for some time.
But I want atleast same specs or better in coming days :)
People are pretty happy with HP deal. I dont want to be feeling bad to miss this HP deal.
Please make sure to give warranty deal also with them as I can see they are going to expire on 31 oct.

Will be looking good deals on ASUS in coming weeks.

        • No probs :). Warranty should be as competitive, otherwise the whole deal will be.

Need a preference list so I can come up with the most suitable model:
          Cheaper or blu-ray?
Video card :can be lower, or must be minimum 6770 or better?
          Any Forbidden Brand?

        • lol. I dont know. You have urself set a benchmark with HP deal, i7 quad core, good graphics,8 gb, blue ray,usb3, chicklet keyb, adnl. warranty.

So compromising in specs means lesser price. Acer are not liked that much.
ASUS, Lenovo or Toshiba will be better.

Paying extra means better brand than HP, better resolution, upper windows version or better processor.
          I hope u understand as a customer.

        • +2

:). ShoppingExpress will continue to launch genuine deals that we think is the best (at each period of time and opportunity) and hoped the ozbargain community (with more people like you) can appreciate and support us to continue to grow. Lets see if one or more of our coming deals can satisfy your requirements. Off to some booze.

        • Get this deal today, you will not regret.

          http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/56725

  • I really wanted one of these, it's a shame I missed out on this offer.

  • Rerun it please, need a decent laptop for University! Or is there another way of getting this at the current price?
