They need to do one with an OLED for less light output at night

    • Thats probably my number 1 request for the echo show, it will look so much better and it will be much more power efficient

    • Wouldn’t that give them an excuse for a higher price tag?

    • At night screen is off. At least on my one that is how it works.

I've never found voice search useful because I often have pressured speech, has the technology improved enough for me to say
"Alexia play 07 - DJ Tiësto - Delerium - Silence (DJ Tiesto's In Search Of Sunrise Remix).MP3"

Because on the ads, it's just so generic, I can't work if that's the intended audience or that's the limit

Not sure how the 07 in that will go down.
My dots can be pretty good most days. Worst is my bathroom one because its almost at the ceiling and its name is Echo.. 😅.. but it will still get it when i speak direct to it.
Echo play salmonella dub for the love of it everywhere..
Playing Salmonella Dub, For the love of it, on "music service", on the everywhere group

      • Hmm ok

Maybe one day I'll try it

        • Ok I tried it on my phone and it brought up links to YouTube clips.
How would that work with no phone?

If I don't speak quickly enough it will play non ghost-writer tiesto music on YouTube music

I find my Google products to be reasonably good - but as much as you train it to your voice, you train yourself to understand it's limitations and to the specific phrases that you know will work. For example, I know I will get the most thorough weather description by asking "Will it rain?" - odd, but you get used to it.

      • Hmm, kinda seems worthless then

        • Not at all - second nature after a while. I went a bit nuts with some of the mental deals around with Spotify Premium freebies etc and have five or six Home Minis.

I also have a few wifi lights, which are very handy - feels strange to use a light switch now.

My Nest Mini is my main speaker while I am working, as I don't need the music very loud. I have a group set up so that if I am home alone I will play music on all the speakers simultaneously as a poor mans Sonos.

Also use it to maintain my shopping list, which I find very useful to shout at it when I remember something.

All useful, if not life defining things - but ones that I would rather have than not.

          • @pdtmathieson: Yeah the lights really stuff is cool. As someone who has wanted dimmers his whole life, I look forward to that
And being able to yell about kumquats and finally not be ruled insane is a fantastic bonus

  • lots of people complaint in echo show 8 as it can't set bigger clock (full screen clock) like show 5/or Google Nest Hub
