Did you know one-in-two child car seats aren’t fitted properly?

This increases the risk of injury to children by almost three times – so it’s important to make sure car seats are professionally checked.

That’s why we’re offering free seat fittings and safety checks in Brisbane and Logan in partnership with Kidsafe Queensland. The qualified staff at Kidsafe can fit and check your child's car seat, plus provide a comprehensive overview of how the seat works to ensure that you are using it correctly.

  • This is so nice.. Is there any place providing same service in NSW? (Free or paid)

      • -1

That's only available for City of Sydney residents.
Each council will be different in what/if they offer anything.

        • there is a link there to search other councils for free checks mate

            @Poor Ass: Cool.

Though if I wasn't a City resident, I wouldn't be searching the Sydney council website for my local services… maybe that's just me

    • Check with your local council, as some will offer free child seat fitting services/vouchers.

I would highly recommend watching them install it if possible so you can learn how to do it yourself.
The seats will loosen over time and will need to be refit, and knowing how to do it yourself will be worth it.

    • The babybunting shops I visited all have this service, of course it is not free. Worthy talking to them?

  • $40 installation service

    • where? this ?

one-in-two child car seats aren’t fitted properly

Means 50% of the population can’t/won’t read and follow instructions? It’s not exactly rocket science…

    • To be fair, some people buy car seats with crappy designs

Is that from Australia? Does seem pretty crappy… I've only ever seen seats that secure via the base.

        • secure via the base

As in ISOFIX, or seat belt through the base?

          • @Chandler: The latter. Been a little while since I researched car seats, but Isofix still isn't so common in Aus right?

        • Yes Australian. I don't know what seat it was or how old, only that it was a Mother's Choice

    • It’s not exactly rocket science…

Have installed/re-installed our seats multiple times (both ISOFIX and seat belt installs); not hard.

Having said that, they are Britax and Maxi-Cosi seats, so not the cheap-cheap ones that (probably) don't have as much effort put into the design.
