Any Equivalent Budget Coffee Machines to KMARTs $89 Anko Espresso Machine?

Hi All

I picked up a KMART $89 Anko coffee machine as a gift for Christmas and loved it. Noticed recently this product is sold out online and being locked down in Victoria, I can't visit any stores.

I'm looking for a decent coffee machine similar to KMARTs at that price point upto $120. Does anyone have any recommendations? I don't mind if its a chinese imported product.

Looking for a machine that takes ground coffee - had too many issues with pod coffee machines in the past.

Thanks
E

    Hi,
The current deal from Woolworths Rewards/L'or is interesting…

  • I had the De’Longhi EC155 15 BAR Pump Espresso and Cappuccino Maker as a budget friendly grinder coffee machine was pretty good until I got gifted a Breville The Barista Express (best coffee machine that I’ve owned)

    • this is what I was looking for, thank you

Edit: Out of stock as well. :(

  • Gumtree if you're patient, aeropress if you're not.

  • being locked down in Victoria, I can't visit any stores.

Kmart close to Coles usually. Go to Coles then zip across to Kmart. Just have your receipt ready in intercepted by the authorities.

  • I know coffee gets a lot of people excited, but honestly a french press or an aeropress make good coffee. Not quite as good as a good espresso machine coffee, but far more consistent than a bad machines/bad operator. They do taste different (french press stronger, aeropress smoother), but if you want something cheap then give them a go

  • Spent the last few years in Asia and discovered coffee in teabags in Malaysia, and pour over coffee in Japan. Both quite good. Didn't miss my espresso machine at all. Even now I've left it in storage and use a stovetop moka pot.

The problem is that in Aus we've had the expensive hardware needed for espresso (great) and the cheap convenience of instant (reboiled garbage) and nothing in between. This makes us think that coffee requires expensive machines. Pods have become popular by continuing that same story, but pretending to have found a loophole in hardware design that still makes decent coffee.

But the truth is that hot water straight into a cup of ground coffee would be 80% there. You can probably get a pourover thing from Daiso for a few bucks, or a Hario V60 for like $10 plus a few filters. Or step up to a Moka pot for $30 and you'd be doing great.
These aren't as good as a high pressure shot of espresso, but are closer to pods and make a good cup, especially if you like a long black.

Barring all that, keep an eye on Aldi. Used to have a $70 espresso machine that was better than the $300 Breville that replaced it.

  • The Kmart coffee machine is now available for online order.

Saw one at Target the other day but noticed there was a lack of reviews outside of Target's own website. Seems pretty decent but a couple of people complained of "too many bubbles in the milk when using the frother" - could be user error? Anyway, its only $99 and looks as thin as the Delonghi Dedica. The portafilter feels very light but the basket felt like steel rather than aluminium, machine also didnt move when locking it in. Anyone tried this one?

  • +1 stovetop moka but im the only person at home that drinks cofffee - they now have a mini 2 cup one so I'm thinking of getting that for myself for xmas, with the two little espresso cups to match.

I also am partial to the robert timms 'tea bag' style coffee. Usually buy 3-5 boxes when they go half price at coles.

  • frother is hit and miss with kmart
