Old school jump starter. Too big and heavy. Better getting a lithium battery jump starter.

    • Thanks, good to know lithium is a better way to go. Though, the closest one with lithium I found is this @ $220. With the price tag of $220, I rather pay a quarter of the price for the same use, which only use during emergency, not like I am carrying it around daily. Maybe other ones you would recommend that is similar price to the one I post? Thanks

      • May not suitable for all vehicles.

There are plenty under $100. They will also start a 5.0L diesel. Do a search on ozbargain.

        Here's one https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/544828
Starts 7.0L diesel. Expired though they come up all the time.

"not like I am carrying it around daily."

Well, you may need to do this if you want to jump start your own vehicle if it breaks down.

    • Thanks. Debating which one to get, basically getting one just for emergency. One for $48, one for $119.

      • You'll be wasting $48 guaranteed.

  • How old is the SLA battery inside? Not something you can stash away for when you might need it. Will need to maintain/ charge it every 3 weeks. If not, it will be landfill next year.

To be honest it's a redundant product. If you own a motorbike / jetski / ups and can make use of the battery inside it might be worth it.

Lithium is a better option for this reason.

    • True. It is exactly the reason why, since I only own one vehicle. I guess lithium sounds like a better way.

      • Lithium is the way to go.

        Fits in the glove box.

I had a jumper starter, the SLA battery is old now, I was debating to change the SLA or get the lithium one, I think the money was better spend on the Lithium one.
Mine charges up via a USB power source.

It holds its charge for a long time too, so you only have to keep it charge probably every 4-6 months if not used.

But not sure how long the Lithium battery lasts though.

I did use it to crank a 2.0L 4cyl, it cranked 10-20 times, which should be enough if your car only has a bad battery.

  • Would this jump start a V8 wake boat (tige)?

    • No it seems only for anything V6 or smaller.

    • It probably will (just) when it's brand new. After a year or so, nup. It's just an SLA battery inside.

Think jump starting your boat from a jetski/ motorbike. Might do it, but pushing it.

These SLA/AGM batteries are a waste of time and money for anything car related. Get a gooloo a2000 for jump-start or full size car battery. Even for quad bikes I fitted a proper car battery so you could jump start vehicles and also had some capacity when the quad wouldn't start… IMHO etc…

OP go for the gooloo on Amazon
    It's the new eneloop

    • Awesome. Well noted.
