  • Anyone know why I should choose the Gooloo instead of the Stanley below? Thanks
    ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Stanley-J312AU-Jumpit-300-Amp-Battery-Jump-Starter-/303528886145?_trksid=p2349526.m4383.l4275.c10#viTabs_0

Aesthetically the Stanley looks a lot more heavy duty and better made.

    • +3

      USB-PD, for one.

I have one of these and it's great. Has saved me a few times.

      • Bought one recently, but never had to use it up to now. Nice to hear your feedback.

      • Second this. Used mine this morning.

    • +2

Is the Stanley J312AU an SLA battery where Gooloo is lithium battery?
Gooloo is portable and can be used as a power bank. Also smaller in size with reverse connection protection.

      • Thanks for your help guys!

    • The Gooloo apart from having a shocking name also doubles as a powerbank which is helpful. But most importantly its small and has lithium batteries.

    • +3

I have been using a Gooloo for about 7-8 months now. I am not commenting or comparing with the Stanley brand. I have been using Stanley tools all my life, but even Stanley manufacture most of their tools in China now and their quality may or may not count for anything anymore.

Pros and Cons of the GooLoo 2000A:

      Pros
      It is:-
      1. Well made. Quality feel and nicely packaged.
      2. Reliable. Works each time, every time.
      3. USB-C connection. Your can charge new smart phones (cable supplied), or older phones with a USB-C to micro-USB (cable NOT supplied). Recently had a 28 hour black out and this unit kept all our phones charged.
      4. Once this unit is charged, the charge is held for a long time.

      Cons
      1. Supplied user guide has small print, but once you have worked though it once, it is very easy to use.
      2. There is a VERY small boost button on the side of the charge plug which is difficult to see at first, but once your work out where it is and what it does, you'll never forget it.
      3. Provides a jump start for your vehicle's battery only. This is NOT a charging unit and will not charge your vehicle's battery.
      4. Doesn't make a cup of tea or coffee, however it could power a USB powered coffee-maker (not supplied) ;)

NOTE: This is a good product and you would not be disappointed. Despite incorrect posts elsewhere, this WILL jump start large petrol/diesel engines up to 7.0 litre capacity.
This model, 2000A, is the "sweet-spot" in the GooLoo lineup. It appears to drop to this price point about once a month and my recommendation is to buy it when it does. At this price it represents good value IMHO.
It also makes a excellent gift for family members to keep in your car for emergencies or in the home during long electrical blackouts. You DON'T need to be technically or mechanically literate to use it. Just follow the simple instructions.

      • +1

You DON'T need to be technically or mechanically literate to use it.

        Agreed.

If you connect the red/black alligator clips,
the wrong way onto the car battery connectors,
the device will show a red light.

So, it's actually quite easy and it's a very worthy investment.

Just ensure that's kept in a cool & dry place, in the car
( so that it does not heat up, in the warm/hot sun )

    • +2

It's for emergency in case your battery dies for whatever reason, or to help others out from a tricky situation?

    • +1

For me, I work from home and we have two cars. My partner's car and mine. By the time I go to drive mine it is usually flat, so something like this to give it a jolt is a lot easier than jump-starting with another car. I guess ease of use mixed with laziness?

      • +2

"You won’t fully recharge your battery by going for a drive, idling the engine, or going for a short stop-start trip. In fact, ‘surface’ charging or continuous undercharging will lower the capacity of the battery over time and shorten its life. You could also void the battery warranty by not recharging it correctly.

The only way to reliably restore a flat battery’s charge is to use an appropriate multi-stage battery charger. The charger voltage needs to be high enough to mix the battery acid evenly in the electrolyte to prevent ‘stratification’."

        https://www.racq.com.au/cars-and-driving/products-and-servic…

    • +3

In the two years I've had mine, I've used it twice. It's still reporting 75% charge. Keeping it charged isn't hard; the self-discharge is minimal.

Meanwhile all it takes is leaving a door open one night (in the garage) for the door light to drain the car battery. And then having this is much nicer than waiting for the wall charger to slowly bring it back.

    • +1

Congratulations @shaybisc you get first prize for the most unhelpful comment of the day.

  • +2

One week too late for me haha!

LPT. All this WFH - need to remember to start up the car every once in a while!

    • +1

Same! I had to call roadside assistance to jump start my car so I can drive to super cheap auto to buy a new battery lmao

Luckily they were having a sale and I got the battery for ~40% cheaper than what RSA quoted me.

      • Fortunately for me, we weren't in a rush to use the car, so it just sat the driveway until the jump starter came in the mail (got one with less Amps and $20 more than this deal)

Roadside assistance + sign up can be expensive!

    • +1

I bought one of these a couple of weeks before my battery decided to die whilst we were away from home. Literally paid for itself right there.

  • Well.. Bought one.. Let's see how this goes.. 3L diesel.. Let's see if this thing is powerful enough

    • +3

u got to press the boost button dont forget

      • +2

You don't have to use boost unless the green light doesn't come on when the cables are connected. It's meant to be used when the battery is very flat.

    • Let me know how you go. I have the smaller version, 800A, but says it can start up to 5.5L diesel. It let me down both times I needed it. I have a 3L diesel. Very disappointing.

      • +1

I was in the same boat as you. The smaller one couldn't start 3.0L Diesel. Even the boost function didn't help. Had to attach two jump starters to get the engine running from a flat battery (all this WFH). Bought this one today, so will report back when, not so hopefully, the battery goes flat next time.

  • Solid unit, grabbed on last sale for same price, worth every penny and highly recommend.

  • +1

    Bought one. Thanks OP.

  • +2

I've used mine easily 6 times now.

I have a little car which is really just a shed on wheels. Battery is flat, and occasionally I need to move the car out, and back in again. Instead of getting another car to do a head to head CPR this little battery starts it up immediately. So convenient. And so far on my first charge still, with max lights showing still for capacity indication.

  • +1

grabbing one because my interstate car will need a jumpstart by the time i return after covid

  • Does anyone know why it’s sold by Gooloo Direct on the product page and by Shen zhen gu lu dian zi shang wu you xian gong si in the checkout? I asked an Amazon rep last week who said they’d look into it but haven’t heard back.

    • +2

Shen zhen gu lu dian zi shang wu you xian gong si

Proper name vs. english friendly name by the looks of it.

  • Is this safe to use for European car that has a lot of technology or electronic stuffs? Or Can the jump start able to damage the electrical inside the car?

    • +1

      It's safe.

  • +1

Grabbed one of these about 3 months ago. My partner had to use it for the first time about a week ago. She said it was super easy to use and she managed to get the car started without any issues by herself. Worth the price of investment already. Would highly recommend these to everybody.

Just make sure you check the charge levels every few months.

  • I have this exact model and I use it all the time to start our 1.3 litre engine. It does so easily.

  • Bought one two months ago fits under spare tyre nicely.

  • Thanks OP.
Ordered 1 for car and another for the boat. Let's see how these go ;)

  • I bought a Noco GB40 2 years ago and it's still going strong. USA made, this model is advertised that it can jumpstart up to V6 vehicles, but can confirm it works on V8s also. Cost me $155 from eBay so I'm guessing it's gone up a bit in price but definitely worth keeping in your boot. It has saved me many times. Unsure how reliable these Chinese jumpstarters are but at this price it's worth a try I guess.

    • This has many good reviews and comments on here. Petrol engine up to 10 Lt, many V8's fit in there.

  • Bought this 3 months ago. was DOA. Still waiting for replacement. Contacted them and got response twice so far.. Waiting, Waiting Waiting

    • +1

Wait if you buy from Amazon, you wait for response from Amazon or GooLoo? Does Amazon wipe their hands clean if these issues occur? Holy crap and this is in the warranty period too…

      • +1

Gooloo is responding, Just seems they are responding but not following up.
1st time asked for a refund and they agreed and nothing
2nd time asked for replacement and they agreed and nothing.

Ill give them till end of week to have a fix

        • I agree with fuzor, you should contact Amazon if its FBA. They will give you a return code for the product to be sent back. Once they received and checked, a refund will be issued (normally 1 to 2 weeks)

  • Thanks for post OP. Have the similar model with lower Amps and very happy with it and being tempted a few times to get this.

Slept on it and this morning still on sale, so gave into temptation and ordered one lol.

  • Got the 1500A from an ozdeal in 2018. Used it a few times recently on 3.8L VX Commodore with a battery on the way out. Not sure if we'll replace the battery or the car.

In the meantime, mother-in-law saw how easy it was to use so ordered this 2000A for her.

As mentioned above, great for powerbank as well, 18000mAh?

  • Code doesn't work for me.
