When you read that as 50 pairs of speakers for $35K and still think it's a rip off…

    • Just one great pair of speakers, I can see how you could read that as 50 pairs though.

      • +4

Just one great pair of speakers

Is this a joke post? Because we're not in the mood for jokes in VIC right now…

        • Wrong, people buy expensive stuff that they thing is worth it for them, and for some people these speakers/sounds system might be it.. especially for sound engineers/Dj/or any music artists really.. ive got a mate who is a sound engineer and bought him self a sound dampening material worth 50-70thousand dollars.. overkill for his apartment? Yes but who are we to judge what someone wants in their life. Some people spend money on things that dont make sense for others.. that define us as humans

          • @Abang Tukang Bakso: That would be true if B&O made audiophile stuff. But they don't. They make gear that people buy so they can tell their friends they bought B&O gear.

            • @[Deactivated]: People also buy iphones, what is your point?
Its as simple as if its not worth the price people wont buy it. These companies arent stupid, they know the type of people theyre marketing to. And you just happen to not be one of them

              • -1

@Abang Tukang Bakso: I think my point is pretty bloody clear? Your point about iPhones, however, is not clear at all.

  • +3

the first thing I want to do during this time is spend $34,000 on a ex display speaker. I spend $34,000 on a speaker and it isn't brand new? You could buy a brand new car for that much!

    • +2

They alread burn it in ;)

  • Price in title please.

    • +14

      Price in title please.

Title is not BIG enough to fit in the price

  • No cashback? No deal!

  • Just reminded me that I need to get my BeoCenter 7000 fixed….. Do you guys do repairs..?

    • +2

The Bang & Olufsen service centre in Malvern does repairs. You can visit them at https://goo.gl/maps/AedXphByRB5JhFMw8 or we're happy to get it there on your behalf if you would like to bring it to us!

Didn't B&O just admit failure and close all their shops?

These are the people who favoured form over function - some weird- ass CD player years ago which stacked CDs in a long vertical stand.

Absurdly expensive TVs beaten by any Chinese made TV with a Korean brand on the front?

We can now achieve better sound on Spotify using just about any "hi-fi" from the bargain bin at good guys.

See ya later B&W, Loewe, Grundig, Bose, etc

    • +5

The B&O stores in Australia closed when the Australian wholesaler Kennedy Group stopped carrying B&O. The new supplier in Australia has since opened new stores and now has 3 stores across Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.

No-one is stopping you shopping in the bargain bin at good guys if that's where you like to shop, but some people prefer the experience they get from B&W, Loewe, Grundig, Bose etc.

      • Form over function.

  • This or audioengine a5+?

  • +3

This or a brand new Toyota Corolla and a years worth of petrol?

    • This or a brand new Volkswagen polo GTI on sale from a dealer with $3500 left over for fuel?

    • +11

I don't think the person who is considering purchasing the Beolab 50 speakers is tossing up between those and a Toyota Corolla

      • -2

Toyota Corolla is a bad comparison, A Polo GTI and leftover $3500 would be better and more fun

        • +6

Not sure, the last customer who purchased them parked a McLaren P1 out the front.

          • @disrupt3r: If you have $4 mil to buy a P1 GTR, $35k would be spare change

          • @disrupt3r: Of course, the person who buys a $34000 speaker would not consider a polo GTI, But to the normal person they would rather spend their money a little more sensibly. But I think you put this post (ad) in the wrong place, Very little to no Ozbargainers have mclarens Lamborginis, let alone $34000. We are just normal people on a normal budget and are looking for cheap items.

            • -1

@jayboi: And 34k to someone with a mclaren P1 is cents.

            • +2

              @jayboi:

no Ozbargainers have mclarens Lamborginis, let alone $34000

Please don't insult me, did you even see my avatar 🤣🤣😂😂

            • +7

@jayboi: OK, but I disagree. You are assuming everyone who uses OzBargain only wants cheap. However I've met many customers who found our store via OzBargain over the years and they were looking for a bargain, not just cheap.
I'm certain there is a small percentage of OzBargain members here who do like the products we offer, and would appreciate the savings we are offering. Sure, its not to everyone's taste, but doesn't mean no-one should be able to enjoy it if they are in a position to own it.

          • +5

@disrupt3r: Well that's absolute bullshit, because a Mclaren P1 isn't street legal in Australia. It's a left hand drive only car.

            • @[Deactivated]: thought it was a P1, might have been a 720S. Not a car expert sorry!

              • @disrupt3r: and just like the 720S, the value of these speakers will go down the drain ;)

              • -1

@disrupt3r: Yet you knew what a P1 was.Right. I feel that the pretension of owning the most expensive modern Mclaren goes hand in hand with owning B&O gear. It's all about appearance. Like those crappy TVs B&O used to sell, which were rebadged Philips plasmas, in a square box, for 10 times the price.

          • @disrupt3r: How did they fit the speakers in the P1?

            • @WoodenSpoon: We offer a home delivery and install service

            • @WoodenSpoon: They didn't. There was no P1.

damn i almost choked on my truffle caviar when i saw these prices

    BeoLab 50 for $34,888!! what a bargain bought 8

    • 8 pairs?

      • Caviars.

  • Hi Op
You wouldn't happen to have an Bose SA-5 ex-display or special deal for new?

    • Yes, we have a couple SA-5's Available

  • Genuinely interested, can you tell me where the BeoLab's are manufactured (the 18, 20 & 50)?

    • Mr Hugo, can I be your friend?!!!

    • Pretty sure its all Denmark or Czech republic, but ill confirm for you.

    • Yep all three are Designed in Denmark, Made in Czech

      • Cool, thanks, I got someone to check on their 50's. Was also told that I wouldn't like the sound signature. The design would have matched the room pretty well.

BTW: Is there a full warranty?, if so what is it. You always worry about the electronics craping out.

        • Yes, full manufacture warranty which is 3 years.
The speakers have active room compensation and acoustic beam width control. Best way to decide if you like them is to have a listen. Give us a call at the showroom and we can schedule a demonstration.

          • @disrupt3r: I'm located in Sydney. I'll listen to a friends 50's and go from there. It's more for the look in a room. I've got a perfectly good setup for music. I don't expect them to be better or even the same as that, just don't want the sound too coloured.

            • @mrhugo: Sure, let us know if you are still interested or need any further information. No problem to ship to Sydney.

          • @disrupt3r:

full manufacture warranty which is 3 years.

Only 3 years??? I’d expect a lifetime warranty if I am spending $34000 on a speaker

  • Beolab 50 or a university degree?

    • Fixed deposit and free udemy tutorials.

      • SLR

  • Should connect all these speakers together and tell all the Karen's to wear masks.

  • Rich kids who buy these speakers for clout will still only stream Spotify on them.
You'll need a very expensive setup to get the most out of these speakers.

Even then, 50K retail is just ludicrous for the pricing, definitely paying for branding here.

    Aquavision Waterproof Outdoor 65" 4K TV(aquavision.tv) RRP - $25,999 - Display sale in-store - $7,799

I need a few of these to install in my newly acquired underwater property in Atlantis

    • Haha, would work there. Or, ideally for a backyard entertaining area.

    • OHai Aquaman

  • Pfft. So much hate just because they're expensive. Although, personally, I'd go B&W 802 in this bracket.

    • The 802s are a great competitor in this range, especially if you like control over your power amp and inputs. The BL50s, 20s, 18s, 17s etc are all fully active with the amp built in which is appealing to a lot of customers.

      • Yeah I'm a traditionalist in that regard! (plus, banks of power amps are…satisfying)

  • Lucky I didn't put the BeoLab 90's in the post.

    • OMG Is the 90 on sale as well?

      • Unfortunately we don't have the 90's in-store now, but we should have some in the coming months if you're interested

    • Well, go on…

  • Need special lifting equipment - 61kg for the BeoLab 50.

    • Includes lifting hook with sale of the BL50s

Bargain is a bargain at what ever price bracket. If tesla dropped the roadster down to 200k from 300k + rrp it would be a bargain. Just because only a few if any ozbargainers can afford it doesnt mean its not a bargain. We should be inclusive and not seggragate particularly in these crazy times.
Not in my price range but thanks for posting OP

    • Well said, thanks for your comment!

    • +1

A bargain is a bargain unless the product is a rip off. If a pair of Gucci loafers went from $25,000 to $15,000, they are still a rip off, no matter which way you spin it. If a Ferrari F8 went from $500k to $400k, then that's a bargain, because you're actually getting something worth what you're paying.

      • +1

        That's my issue. I wouldn't consider B&O near Event/Focal/Monitor audio/Dynaudio top end.

        • +1

I miss my focal setup. :)

  • SO SAD B&O are closing all the retail stores :-(

    • Previous distributor(also owned the stores) went under due to some mismanagement and poor choices. Stores that shut are back and some multi brand partners and going strong. awesome products coming up soon too

  • +2

Do you accept a kidney as mode of payment?

  • -1

Thanks OP I'll take all 50 pairs.

  • +2

Hmmm… how to convince the ATO I needed $34,000 speakers for Zoom calls. thinks

    • Tell them you zoom with James Earl Jones

    • You get upto $100k (or is it $150k) instand asset write off.

  • can youse use the Bose Pro Loudspeaker F1 812 + F1 Sub for home theatre or its only good for love music and big halls

    • I guess its possible, but i wouldn't recommend it. More for large venues, DJs etc.

      • haha.. more of a paradigm lover here, have heard the BW 802's ones and that blow me away. would love to hear the BO 50 one day.

  • …do you take kidneys?

  • +2

Most of the people commenting on this post and putting a negative feedback have a pretty small minded “i could have a brand new car for that price” type of attitude.. definitely not a real ozbargainers and its sad to see

    • -1

      Real ozbargainers are jerks unfortunately.

  • +2

Thanks for the post. Obviously quite a range of different users here looking for different things. Someone posted a deal on tampons in the last 24 hours and rather than discussing the pros and cons of those products, I thought I'd leave that to the experts. There are 2 key positives for me with B&O speakers, they review very well (the usual negative comment is the price) and just as importantly for anyone living with a wife, they score very highly on the "wife acceptance factor". Offering the range of speakers at a discounted price puts them within reach for more people (perhaps not the Beolab 50s for me).
Most of what I would consider higher end Hi-Fi I have purchased recently, I have spotted on this forum and, I hope the barrage of heckling doesn't stop others from posting good deals for all budgets. I'd go for the Polo GTI over the Toyota Corolla too.

    • +1

Most of the heckling runs along the lines of "I can't afford it so it must be shit".

      • +1

absolutely. half the android users cant afford an iphone so its easy to hate

  • A dominant purchase for dominant people.
