    Haven't seen sarnie used in a long time….real proper English.
    Local kebab shop makes shaved marinated pork kebabs with bacon an chilli n garlic sauce….bloody magnificent.

      As everything gets shortened in Aussie slang, I always thought Sarnie had come from this side of the pond, be interesting to find when it was first used though.

        Back in the good old days of grand England it was very common slang along with chip butty.
        When friends came over ….pre covid always had plate of sarnies.
