Could have mentioned it was an Acer.

Yep that is the "what more" I would have said…

Acer are fine, good long warranty, I shift quite a few and I've yet to have an Acer LCD fail. The LED model is better however and only ~$20 more. These are normally $130 at MSY, so by the time you add postage this isn't a bargain.

      What's wrong with Acer?

  • MSY has had an LG 23" Full HD (W2343T-PF) on sale for the past couple of months for $125. LG also offer 3 Year Perfect Pixel Warranty. so price is nothing special for 23"

Ok price for local pickup. But shipping is the killer for this deal.

  • saw most latest monitors were LED these day. are LED better than LCD?

Not really, it's just the backlighting that's different. While it doesn't make for any image quality differences it does make the screen a lot thinner and more energy efficient.

If you want a quality screen with good colour reproduction, you'd buy an IPS screen. E.g This

    • The 'LED' in 'LED monitors' only refers to the way these monitors are backlit. LED monitors still use LCD technology to display images, but are backlit by LED as opposed to CCFL used in traditional LCD monitors.

With that bit of background info out of the way, LED-backlit monitors don't necessarily offer better picture quality over traditional CCFL-backlit LCD monitors, although they are more power efficient.

      Edit: Beaten!

    • LED is just the backlighting, this monitor still has an LCD TN panel.

What you really want, is a LCD IPS (panel) LED (backlighting) screen. It's a a billion times better than these crappy TN panels.

I got my dell 23" IPS LED on special for about $240 delivered, you can probably get the same deal of you wait a little, it's worth the extra coin.

    • thanks all!

    "…3 year pick up…"..
heh, takes 3 years to pick it up. heh.

  • If the Acer experience at my office is anything to go by, I'd take a wide berth on these! Their LCDs failure rate was around 35-40% over 3yrs due to cheap capacitors in power supplies.

  • on their website site they can do price beat, in fact i found it on the static ice
    23.6" Acer V243HQ LCD monitor $119

    • good find maybe you should post that as a new deal?

  • I just bought this model at MSY in Melbourne. Just a word of warning, the colors are a bit weird, you need to adjust them through your OS since there aren't many controls though the settings in the actual monitor.
