1660 Super: $329 https://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/galax-geforce-gtx-166…

16 gb Aegis: https://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/g.skill-aegis-16gb-2x…
16 gb ripjaws: https://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/g.skill-ripjaws-v-16g…
also some good deals on SSDs like Bx500 $134 https://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/crucial-bx500-1tb-540…

too bad i only ordered ripjaws 3 days ago for $103 from them. and ended up getting a second hand 1050 as could not justify the price premium on graphics cards at the moment.

good prices. I see things getting cheaper though

1660 super has been over 349 everywhere so i say a good price. for $89 16 gb ram is pretty good too. given Facebook gumtrees still sell 16gb ram with 2400 speeds around $70 to $80

      • +1

Yeah but you have to factor in shipping for the RAM.

  • Wow $329 for the 1660S! The Aegis is at a very nice price, though for $10 extra you can get the 3600CL18 kit which is definitely worth it when you factor the gains into total build cost rather than RAM cost.

  • is it better to have 4x8gb sticks or 2x 16gb sticks for 32gb mem setup?

    • Im running 4x8gb sticks of these https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/555452 on my 3700X B450 Mortar Titanium

Running 2x8gb the sticks run slower in the benchmarks vs 4x8gb

Even though MSI use ddr4 daisy chain topology

2x sticks are more likely to work on more motherboards then 4x sticks

    • 2 sticks is recommended usually.

      Pros:

      2 sticks:

      • Upgrade path.

      • More stable.

      4 sticks:

      • Dual rank for a bit more performance.

      • All 4 slots filled up, lovely.

      • Higher bandwidth. (barely a difference itrw)

I still need to wait for another 2-3 weeks to get my Ryzen 5 from Amazon US to build a new rig. Shall I buy this 1660S now or just wait for another 2-3 weeks the price might come down?

    • I'm hanging off

    • +1

Just get it now. It took SE 2 weeks to shop my 1660S after ordering

      • Dispatch from warehouse in 24 hours. That's what they say from their website.

        • Yeh like @Marx said it'll take about 2 weeks to come in I ordered some G.skills V ram on the 18th in a previous deal and it reached my place on the 29th.

        • greatest lie every told

        • Actually, I just got the email from Auspost, about 24 hours after buying.

    • I’m on the same boat. Holding off just in case the price drops further.

People are still trying to flog their used 1660 supers for more than this price on FB marketplace.. can't imagine much more of a price drop in 2 weeks but you never know

      • 1660 super $329 or rtx2060 super for $499?

        • Link for rtx2060S? Cheapest I could find is $740-ish.

          • @kampret: Was as low as $490 + Delivery but was most likely a price error. I received it though.

        • RTX 2060S is closer to $550-600 though

          • @tempco: I could be wrong but 329 sounds like 1650 super territory so not sure much much lower than that it would go.

        • Please post the deal, $499 sounds good

  • 1660 Super for 329 or 5600 XT for 399?

    • +1

Do you have a link to the 5600xt?

Edit: I think I found it, I haven't heard good things from the ASRock Challenger cards (but from memory they were referring to the 57000xt so YMMV)

      • Yeah ASRock refused to send their 5600 XT Challenger D to Hardware Unboxed, definitely avoid.

        • Pretty sure hardware unboxed personally buys most of the cards out of pocket when doing mass comparisons

          • @scottySK: IIRC they weren't able to get it locally.

    • 20% extra money for 15% extra performance. Worth it if you can afford the money imo

  • How about this one?
    https://www.umart.com.au/Asus-Dual-GeForce-GTX-1660-Super-EV…
    Any difference with Galax?

    • Might run slightly cooler, not worth the extra $70 imo.

  • Prices will get better and better thanks to the US feds QE.

  • Can't find the 1660S on pcpartpicker…. Anyone know why?

  • This or XFX RX 5600 XT Thicc II PRO $405.99? In regards to which is usually more popular/sells easier for when new GPUS come out?

  • Damn, just paid $118 last week for a pair of G.Skill Ripjaws V 3200 2x8GB. Do I really need 32GB for mostly surfing and some RPG gaming with my RX580 card?

  • +1

ah bugger it, tired of waiting, this will do, thanks OP.

  • +2

    Thanks OP.

Pulled the pin on the 1660 Super and used some ShopBack- PayPal cash I had earned to bring the price down to $300 delivered to Perth. Hopefully this Shopping Express experience will be good one. I've previously avoided their deals for anything expensive.

  • BX500 is now $129!
