Is TobyDeals trust worthy? I have not bought anything from them before. But wanted to buy something from them. Thanks

I have purchased from them before, and they seemed okay, shipping was just under 2 weeks tho.
      Plus it's not AU stock.

Purchased Samsung Buds+ recently. Received item in ~1 week.

      .

      • Thank you :) I don't mind waiting.

Note: Not AU stock, likely grey market and will likely take a long time to arrive. You'll have difficulties getting customer support if anything goes wrong. Your call if it's worth the saving.

Also, Regular Price: AU$979.99 is incorrect and intentionally misleading as per usual.

Apple customer service in my experience doesn’t change if product is sold genuinely

      • Depends. One year global warranty should be fine if they are indeed brand new and not registered before/blacklisted for whatever reason.

Adding Applecare+ can be hit or miss, may or may not work on non-local stock.

Either case, you generally won't get replacements for non-local stock products but repairs only.

Also no ACL coverage beyond one-year warranty.

        • $679 kogan vs $543.

$136 buys a lot of mouthwash.

          • @tonyjzx: It's a false economy if something goes wrong with it after a year. Feel free to take the risk, don't advise it for a pricey item though.

@Hybroid: If you get a tax invoice, you'll be fine with Apple.

  • @hybroid it’s Apple warranty worldwide. Apple covers 12 months and if it’s fake would not activate with iPhone n sync. It’s $614 cheapest in Costco.

    • +4

@ranjja, I think it is better to get from Costco for $50 extra, local AU stock with AU charger which will save you $30 and Has 2 Year Au warranty

      • Also, if you don’t like it you can take it back for a refund.

    • That's correct, But if you buy in Australia, you'll get an extra 12 months Consumer Affairs warranty too.

Not directing at OP, But this is a bad deal, it is a grey Import with little to no warranty, Tobydeals are a sketchy company altogether

To be fair I and plenty of people I know have bought from them and had no issues.

  • Tempting… BUT BUT BUT….

I will put in the usual comment that people need a phone, with the latest IOS, to set these up.

One positive if it’s overseas stock* you “might” be able to activate the ECG, there’s hoops I believe

    *from an ECG region

    • How does that work? I’m interested in the ecg feature. Not sure if it’s worth just waiting until the next series since it has the oxygen sensor. Never know. Might allow ecg in aus as well

    • You can’t! I’ve US version with ECG app

    • I was about to comment to ask the same thing. I wish there were Australian grey marketers shipping the US Apple Watches. If anyone knows of someone who does, please share.

      • ECG uses your location when you activate so you’ll have to activate the watch on you iTunes account in an ECG supported region too.

        • With VPNs I’m hoping that’s not too hard to get around — will have to do more research as if it uses actual gps hard to stop then

    • If you can jailbreak your iPhone you can activate the ECG feature relatively easy. I did it just the other day. On my AU watch.

  • Officeworx price beat?

    • Haven't tried, as most in my local area are out of stock.

Apple watch 6 literally around the corner same with new iphones, have no idea why anyone would buy this at the current moment especially as new apple watch meant to be cheaper offering price wise compared with watch 5 when it releases.

    • I mean if you can find them at a significantly cheaper price it is worth it, but anyone paying full retail for it is crazy.

    • +1

Exactly! Very bad time to get an iPhone 11 or series 5 even if they’re on sale. Because once the new one comes out in oct (confirmed to be delayed) there will be a wave of price drop.

  • Series 6 will be out in two months

    • 12 September

      • confirmed delay this year i believe

    • In December..

TobyDeals is kind of horrible. If something goes wrong, their customer services takes ages to reply (1 reply takes like 3 weeks) so resolution of any problem will take a long time (they make you upload proof, or video and then review it for 2-3 weeks).
Plus you can't take this to Apple to get it looked at (checked with Apple Australia)

"… wonder why Australians are paying higher premiums for imported technology & still getting locked out of flagship features."
Problem not prioritised by Apple after 1 year. Is that fair treatment? https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2019/09/why-apple-watch-series-5-…
