Hows this tracking with last year's prices on the C9?

This seems absurd when the C9 was $1700 and this is barely an upgrade.

What price was the C9 this time last year?

    • +1

C9 55" is around $2100 on average same time of year last year.

    • +4

Few hundred $ cheaper, found this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/468930

    • +8

Difference between this year and last year= COVID19… You might have heard about it.

      • +2

Dunno why UNO has been down voted. All tech and appliances are up dramatically of what they should be at the moment due to supply and demand issues. Just a fact. PC hardware, for example is about 30% higher on average than it should be.

        • +2

Yeap. This is one of the hardest year to get anything cheap. Stuff that I have been monitoring price didn't went down a single bit from January until now.

Maybe when next year tech releases, this year's stuff will be bargain price to sell the amount of leftover stocks.

        • +1

          Weaker AUD hasn't helped either

          • @MiscOzB: I'm monitoring the US dollar. Their economy is a bit of a house of cards at the moment.

          • @MiscOzB: AUD back above 70c
Above what it was most of 2019

            • +1

@JMxoxo: RRP was set during weaker AUD, so the price ceiling is higher. Covid still hurting supply chains, and LG's Chinese OLED factory suffered several delays. CX pricing isn't going to normalise overnight just because AUD is holding. It'll take a while, and by then CXI/11 will be around the corner and may be more competitively priced, especially as their factory is finally online.

Barely an upgrade? I dunno about that. If you're a gamer, the CX supports GSync which is going to be magical when the next generation consoles come out.

      • +3

        So barely an upgrade.

      • Totally agree. With Gsync, big advantage. Will consider this next yr for PC gaming.

      • +3

C9 supports G-sync. Also, Nvidia compatibility is irrelevant for next-gen consoles

      • +2

Very strange coment to make …. the C9 has Gsync support https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/g-sync-compatible-…
The actual delta is that the CX
(+) has black frame insertion at 120Hz , which the C9 doesnt
        but
(-) can't decode DTS audio anymore through HDMI (ARC / eARC)
(-) and CX no longer has the full bandwith 48Gbps HDMI 2.1 ports the C9 had

So i'd say thats a slight upgrade for some people, slight downgrade for others, but in any case a very mild change.

        • Hi Gmetal, wow, I had no idea about the DTS passthrough on the CX series!

You seem to know your stuff, so quick question, please, if you don't mind:

Planning to buy a PS5 - in "real life scenario", would I be missing out on features/performance when using a C9 vs a CX with the console?

          Thanks in advance!

  • +1

    have this
    love it
of course paid more than this, but im fine with that

    • Have you watched 4K content on it? How is it?

      • Watched Greyhound with this … cinematic with the Dolby Atmos effect. Price well worth it, but you need the contents to go with it.

        • 4K content is much easier to get a hold of now than it was a few years ago.

It looks phenomenal. I had to sell my C965 last year when moving interstate and I miss it every day.

This is the best TV available at the moment. I wanted to buy but don't want to spend money at the moment.

  • +3

    Need 65!

    • +1

You don't need a bigger one. You just want one!

      • +1

That's what I've been trying to explain to my wife! /selfburn

  • -6

Terrible deal - Why do people want the 2020 version so much? I got the 65" C9 for the same price a few months back..

    • +7

Because there's no stock of that anymore

  • +1

how much is 65 inch? just wondering

  • Weird that the 2019 models support full HDMI 2.1 specifications but these ones don't. They still support 4k 120hz 10bit though so it doesn't seem to matter.

    • Don't you need HDMI 2.1 to get 4k 120hz?

      • +2

It has HDMI 2.1, but they only support up to 40 Gbps (which is plenty for 99.999%) of content anyway.

This is by far the most peculiar comment I have ever read on this website.

  • +1

Would this be a good time to buy? The consoles are coming out in a few months which I'm concerned might inflate the prices again due to people upgrading.

    • +2

We live in uncertain times, I'd say your guess is as good as mine. But still be mindful of the upcoming black Friday sales.

      • Thanks, I'll hold out. Would be great to get this for around $2200.

  • -1

    Will be $1700-$1800 by November

    • I think this is wishful thinking with COVID-19 and demand with next-gen consoles.

      • People won’t have a job to afford those next gen consoles, let alone the tvs

  • CX worth it for the extra money compared to the BX? Leaning towards a BX when it's on sale.

    • +2

C series has better processing and a wider stand. If it's like previous B vs C LG OLEDs, side-by-side, you'll definitely notice the difference, but in the real world when you only watch one TV, you probably won't care. They're both great TVs.

    • I read the BX has really bad noise in dark scenes. CX just seems worth the bit extra.

      • Oh really? Haven't seen much of that. Interesting

  • -1

read most of these comments. still cannot get my head around why anyone would jump in now for a tv that is about $1k more than a very similar tv (C9) from last year. yeah, there are "reasons", but isn't bargain hunting about timing also?

    • Where to buy a C9 now though? :(

    • +2

hmmm, probably because we can't go back in time to make the same purchase. If I had a time machine I would've bought a bunch of houses in the 1980s when houses were pretty cheap. You buy the deal that is in front of you. If you can offer a better deal, now, then please post it.

    • I’m in need of a new tv and the LG oleds have been my go to lately. I shall be patient though because these prices are a touch high. 👀
