Hi All, First post so be nice….

I was doing the look around for a PS3 version of Battlefield 3 and came across this Amazon site.

They currently have a promotion of an instant $20 off a preorder (Plus some dog tags that I do not care about).

Given that it is 59.95
Delivery (Non Express) 15.98 (24.98 for express)
Automatic Discount (20.00)

Total is 55.93 or 64.93 express

I took non express delivery as I have exams that I need to study for so happy to wait.

Price History at C CamelCamelCamel.

  • I presume this would be the US version. Wouldn't that be a problem here in terms of online multiplayer and DLC etc?

    • +1

Every PS3 game is region free as far as I know.

      • +1

Yes every game is region free but DLC can often be region locked.

        • -1

umm, I think the US use NTSC format games - we use PAL. Therefore, not compatible?

Also, I didn't think Amazon shipped games to Aus…

        • Plus save files.

        • Plus selling/trading it in would be an issue too I would think.

        • Again, all PS3 games are region free. Whether from the US, Europe, Asia, all will work on your PS3 console. They aren't region locked. The DLC however is.

    • +1

Yeah you would have to make a US PSN account (illegally lie about where you live when signing up)
to get the DLC included working.
Then when new DLC comes out you'll have to buy it from the US store.

You'll be able to use your EU/AU PSN account with it just fine other than that.

      • This.

The DLC is often region coded.

But not sure it is actually illegal to make a US account.

    • The DLC will most likely not work.
There is a chance that it will (i hope it does for whoever buys) but the PS3's DLC is region locked (despite it not being stated on the game nor on the DLC itself).

  • does this include the free shirt?

  • xbox version also available same price

  • +1

Anyone tried to purchase? I've tried previously and Amazon has refused to post to au.

  • +1

Seems like it can post to Aus, I had some other things in my cart that wouldn't which got flagged, but the game didn't. Might be different since it's a preorder though.

    • +1

its often unique to the seller of the item and the type. games and consoles will be sold to Aus, but alot of other stuff wont. Amazon UK will not however sell games and consoles to Aus. Its pretty crappy because of the inconsistency.

  • +1

Good find, didn't know Amazon started shipping games oversea.

  • +1

    Slightly cheaper at dvd.co.uk - $54.80 delivered (£1.39 shipping minus £6.83 VAT):

Also that will work with DLC's…. so I give a neg to this post. Expensive and incompatible with DLC's (possibility)

    • +1

      engrish ?

as many have stated above, you can make a US/EU account, then get the DLC off the respective PSN of that region and then once it's on your system you can use your normal account to play.

      don't neg on a "possibility" !

      • I don't think our credit cards work with US psn. Might have to buy a US psn card.

        • Wait so what happens to all the people who preordered the EU version from TheHut and Zavvi? I thought we were part of the 'EU' region.

        • No, we are part of the PAL Region (So games bought in the UK/EU will work on Australian consoles), but not of the same country region (DLC, Matchmaking services might be different). If Battlefield 3 is going to try an online pass like the new EA Sports game do, your doomed on playing multiplayer unless you create a UK/EU account.

        • Those were some pretty innocuous statements. I wonder who is negging us.

  • +1

this is not a good deal due to it being US version

UK version on ozgameshop is a better option, or any other joint in the UK is better, yes it is region locked, so you will be playing with whiney americans, HOW FUN!..

    • -1

Plus you have to get a US PSN account and jump through other hoops, why not get it from Zavvi for the same price, no fiddling with DLC's and theres PayPal

And I still get negged to death.

  • The North American Xbox 360 version of the game will work on PAL consoles – according to this:
    http://vgplus.blogspot.com/2011/10/battlefield-3-xbox360-reg…
(but no idea if that applies to the DLC or multiplayer matchmaking)

    • My $65 copy from Amazon arrived today. I can confirm that it works fine for multiplayer (the enclosed Online Pass can be successfully redeemed). Can't be sure about Karkand until it's released, but hey… I've already paid less than any local price.

  • You won't be able to download Back to Karkand.

  • For that price surely the Big W deal for $68 is better than this Amazon one. It's $3 more than getting this express, and you'll get it quicker and have no DLC or trade in issues. Well, that's what I'd get anyway. I'm a PC gamer - preordered for $45 from The Hut, but bummed now that it's out and I'm waiting 10-15 days…

    • Big W is the standard edition = no Karkand.

    • 10-15 days you'd be lucky! I waited exactly 4 weeks for Resistance 3 to arrive from them!

Get it on PC. Much better and cheaper.
