Ionmax 610 Dehumidifier - $239 + Delivery ($18.99 Regional NSW) @ Matt Blatt / Kogan

80

We've been battling mould. Waking up to a bedroom with water pooling on the ground and stuck to the windows. This one is Choice recommended and so far seems to do the trick.. even with delivery, appears to be cheaper than elsewhere.

The site layout looks very similar to Kogan/Dick Smith.

Update: Appears Matt Blatt were acquired by Kogan in May 2020

I have a desiccant dehumidifier (similar to this one). It was a game changer for condensation.

I did a bit of research before buying mine. Make sure you get the type that suits you (desiccant versus compressor) and make sure that it's good for the room sizes you need. Also, be conscious of the running costs and consider what's more worthwhile, as some people might be better off with conventional aircons.

    • I thought I would have a trouble with a compressor during winter. I decided on it due to cost and since I run my heating in my room, it should be warmer. It is definitely a game changer. I can breath easier during the mornings. The only time my window condenses a bit is when it hits below 0.

Edit - this is what I got - https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/product/dimplex-gdde25e-… . Tank gets full after 3 days of running 8 hours every night.

    • +1 to this comment…after researching the power consumption I crunched the figures and calculated it would cost $2.88/day to run (assuming the dehumidifier is running at full power for 24h/day at 25c/kWh), which is not insignificant (nearly $90/month).

For me personally, it's cheaper to run a 40W pedestal fan over the clothes rack to speed up the clothes drying times.

This could be a pricing error as they also have it on the site at $365 (with free delivery).

I have the next model up - the 612 (which they also have for two prices).

These size ones wont do a large area. Mine is rated at 7 litre per day and I'm doing an area about 4x7 metres. It could do slightly larger. Very good in winter to reduce humidity (obviously). The Ausclimate ones are also good.

Just hope you don't need Kogan's customer support as they have no idea of basic Australian consumer law.

    • Mine got delivered for the price I put in the title.

I was tempted by the 612.. Choice rates it more highly. But I only have a small house and a need for single rooms at a time. But the jump in price is too severe.

  • Thanks for posting I hope they follow through as this is a decent price including delivery for this type of dehumidifier

  • Bummer I ordered last week from Amazon for $299 and now they won't cancel my order

  • When adding to the cart it becomes 349. Deal over, it was an error.

    • Bait and switch! Sorry.

If you Google 'Ionmax 610', the Google search results show a Google Shopping link for $239.

      • Not anymore it doesn't.

    • It was also showing as $239 2 or 3 weeks ago so I doubt it was an error, more likely amazon style price adjustments based on popularity.
