Which one do you prefer do drive/look at/be seen in?

    Either or which. Doesn’t matter.

50,000km less is a no brainer. Dash cams are relatively low cost too and highly recommended.

Make sure to factor in costs for ppsr report, car inspection and insurances.

  • City or highway mileage?

  • I used to own a 2003 Honda Jazz, drove 130,000kms in 4 years, and have zero faults with it. It got written off when someone drove into the back of it - presumably drunk.

    • See, you should have left the rubber bumper around it like all the other dodgem cars have.

  • Honda Jazz hands down.
have driven in a few and they are far more roomier than they appear.
Both are as reliable as each other, CVT gearbox takes a bit of getting used to but is practically bombproof with the smaller engine

Also was never a fan of the asthmatic engines in the Yaris

  • I've had a few Yaris/Echos over the years. Good cars, nothing amazing but worry-free. They are my baseline car, anything I ever buy will be compared against a cheap, old, reliable $5k Yaris.

I'd get the Jazz though. They should be similarly reliable, and the big KM difference makes it the better choice.

Dashcam and stereo are inexpensive upgrades you can add yourself.

  • I have a 2010 Jazz. So far has proven very reliable.

  • Merged from Late 90s to Early 2000s Toyota Camry, Good Idea?

    Hello everyone,

Im looking to buy a first car and was wondering if early 2000s to late 90s toyota camry would be a good idea. The kms would be below 150K.

      • thats on the table too haha just weighing my options. i quite like how the old camrys look

Buying a 20-30 year old car is rarely a good idea

      • truely?

        • Yes. Even if it’s a Camry, that’s an old ass car. Compression would be questionable, seals would have rotted, belts/chains will have lost tension, service history doesn’t even matter at that age, and 150,000km is super suspect for a car that old.

          • @[Deactivated]: theres one thats spoosedly done 98K lol

@vapeCRISPY: 5000km a year is extremely unlikely. It’s probably been wound back or has a new engine or both.

            • @vapeCRISPY: Sure, 98K since it had the instrument cluster replaced…

  • Thanks for this post I am now considering the Honda Jazz 2010 as an option for my first car.

    Looks really good.
