Lenovo E14 ($869) E15 ($859) AMD 4500U with 8G RAM and 256GB SSD (Student Deals) @ Lenovo Student Store

140

I missed last week's deal and kept tracking the Lenovo website during the week, and here another deal came up. It is not as good as last week's deal, but it is still pretty good in my opinion.

Link to Lenovo Student Store

Normal price for E14 AMD version is $1699 (save $830) and E15 AMD version is $1799 (save $940), the draw back is it takes around 8 weeks to ship

you can customise the base deal by adding 8GB RAM for $95 (total 16GB), 16GB RAM for $190 (Total:24GB).

SSD can be max 1.5TB

not sure the expiry of the deal, so only put one day in the post, but may run for the weekend.

From the user review, the computing power is good, however the LCD screen seems not that good. for me I probably will only use it as a home server, so an ethernet port is a must and don't care too much about the screen. Thinkpad X AMD version is also on sale, for people prefer the thin and light. but no ethernet port

Not to mention, the intel version are also on sale

If there's any working coupon, please let me know, tried UNIDAYS and WelcomeNew10, both don't work

  • How much are they normally?

The link doesn't show any discounts.

So they're about half price then?

        • +1

Yes, that's why I said this is a good deal. although I am still waiting if someone can provide a working coupon to bring the price a further 10% down.

  • +1

This is still the same price as previous education deal and has been in place for awhile.

On phone and too lazy to lookup and validate

    • those were expired. or at least you cannot get the deal on the website directly.

        • Well it is on and off

at least during the last couple of days, this pricing is not a available. since I missed last weekend's deal, I check lenovo's website multiple times each day. and seems Lenovo routinely reduce the price during weekend.

@Branchus: This student deal has been running the whole time and hasn't changed since that previous deal was posted

  • 8 weeks shipping good lord.

I don't think I've ever decided I needed a laptop and not had a change of mind 8 weeks later in some regard, not to mention tech changes that quickly.

  • Showing $950.95 to me—what am I doing wrong? (yes, I did login through the student store)

Also, how does one reach the student store via cashrewards?

  • ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 or Ideapad Slim 5 14?

    • I asked the same question last time and the general reply was: ThinkPad > Ideapad.

      • Where? I couldn't find it. Under a different profile?

I'm leaning towards the Ideapad bc of the better screen (300 > 250 nits), seemingly bigger trackpad (don't have the measurements, but the Thinkpad's looks tiny), and sheer looks (the ThinkPad chassis is the same I had from work over 20 years ago!). Perhaps the ThinkPad is more robust and the keyboard keys have more travel, but… who cares?? The laptop will be obsolete in 5 years anyway.

  • Looks like unidays code is still working

    • why I cannot make it work? do i need to log in through unidays?

      • Yes, I am also trying
        Delivery time is a Killer

        • How you get the unidays code working?

          • @Branchus: can you get cashrewards with this

  • Unidays code still works. You'll need a unidays account though.
Final price of $782.10 for the E15 with fingerprint sensor (no customisations).
Chose this one because it said 10-15 days to ship - we'll see if it happens.

    • It says 8 weeks for me

    • Unidays code works for me. If you choose the E15 with fingerprint sensor, delivery is 10-15 days as hsc21 mentioned.

      • Is it E14 or E15. Every E15 model is more than 8 weeks. There is 1 E14 Model at $791.10 that says 6-9 days. Can you please confirm

        • Just checked, it's still showing E15 Gen 2 model 20T80008AU 10-15 business days.
May be check if you're looking at the right model?

          • @hsc21: That's strange, this model is not available when i look up all Thinkpad models on same screen.

I am able to customize E15 Gen 2 with 16gb Ram and 512gb SSD for $903.60 but it is more than 8 weeks despatch

            • @sakg: Not sure why it's not working for you. Also, that's a stock model. So as soon as you modify (e.g. want 16GB ram) it'll be 8 weeks+.

  • Looking to get this for my son for uni work. Anyone used it? Any luck getting it sooner than 8 weeks shipping?

    • Just got the Ideapad ready for shipment there. Better screen, wifi and storage too

    • I purchased one on this deal 26/7/20:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/553352
The initial shipping eta was end of September, which changed to the end of August a few days later. I got an email yesterday from Lenovo saying that it had shipped with a delivery eta of 18/8. DHL texted me today advising that they had picked it up, with further updates to follow. I will probably get it on time or before given that DHL use their own planes.

  • Got an update. Estimated shipping is 17 August with delivery on 19 August. Seems fairly optimistic to me unless they have a warehouse in Sydney.

Received shipment notification from DHL today. Looks like it's coming from Sydney.

    • mine is shipment on 14/09 and delivery 23/09

      I customised the build.

      • Hopefully they can deliver sooner. Mine actually arrived today. Ordered 8th arrived 13th.

For those who are worried about delivery times…my experience with recent order…and my order was a custom build adding RAM/Camera/WiFi/FP
I ordered on 27 July with an ETA of 6-8 weeks, so I was prepared to wait for 2 months to be delivereid by end of Sept.
But once I placed the order, after few days, the estimated delivery date changed to sometime end of Oct and I was not happy about that.
But again after few days, it's updated again with ETA shipping date as: 07-Aug and delivery of 18-Aug and I was happy again.
Today I got the notification that parcel is with driver for delivery today from DHL, so most likely will get it today.
So from 27-July to 13-Aug so around 17 days, not bad I guess.
You you never know unless you place the order how long you may have to wait…

    • Same experience, placed the order on July 26 (delivery dates jumped around few times), and hopefully, will be receiving it today.

  • Just had to post up a quick review - VERY happy with this laptop and it's only been about 3hours of use.. Came from a 2015 MacbookPro and didn't think I would be as impressed as I am. great value for sub 1k :)

    • Isn't the screen a tad too dim (at 250 nits)?

I too transitioned (back) from a MacBook (Air 2013, in my case), but to an Ideapad S5 14". The hardware is fine—the screen is a little brighter and it feels solid enougg—but I'm still struggling to accept Windows back. I've already swapped Alt and Ctrl keys (with PowerToys) and put the task bar on top, but where are the Option-key symbols?? How come no one has thought of a little script to import them all into the keyboard manager??

      • agreed - ctrl+c, ctrl+v doesn't feel great

Not fussed with the dim screen but I'm sure I would be if I brought it outside. I plan to use it mostly with a dock + linked to multiple screens + apple keyboard. usb-c seems to be the ultimate connector

        • In that case, wouldn't a desktop give you more grunt for the same gunk?
