Got for both kids. Great value.

    • +9

      Can I be your kid?

    • Can you use the android family controls on this though?

      • Yup

      • Yes. Have it set up for both. Turn it off at the click of a button

  • Ordered, thank you. Is there a smaller / cheaper version people recommend? Mainly for kids (Youtube kids). They don't need 12.7".

    • +1

Check the other Android tablet on here Chuwi AuPad - pretty decent for $200(or w/e it works out to be). Slightly smaller at 10.9.

Oh also see Alldocube - can find these on Amazon AU as well

    • Aldi have one this Wednesday 20th. $199
      https://www.aldi.com.au/product/000000000000680729

      • But it's 4/128 , and most other specs are much lower. 30% cheaper, but much lower spec.

  • I am getting $183

  • ATL in USD?

Still waiting for the one I ordered on 1 Aug to leave China. Excitedly waiting but expect several weeks delivery for those ordering.

    • +1

Same here, ordered on the 1st August, shipped on 9th and has been sitting awaiting a flight since 13th.

    • +2

Arrived today just to give the whole picture :)

  • How does this compare to the xiaomi pad pro 7 ultra? I'm seeing one for 160aud on Ali.

    Would that be a scam?

    • Think the processor in this is supposed to be about twice as good as the one in the Xiaomi

    • Those cheap "xiaomi" ones are not legit, they are a scam, ordered 2 figured it was probably too good to be true but took a punt. The screen was garbage which was a giveaway but they actually hack the os to show you advertised system specs falsely. There are apps you can install from play store that looks at real hardware and show you it's a scam.

Got my money back and when I showed them the screenshots of the app they didn't even argue, preying on those without any tech savvy must be profitable enough to eat the shipping on the ones that know/bother to check

  • Price shows Usd$183 before promo code for me ?

Also am I right in saying I can't add extra items to the cart do get a bigger discount…ie discount only applies to one item?

    Thanks

    • Are you sure you didn't pick with case option? That shows $183.62 before checkout

      • Shows 188 with case for me

      • Looks like the vendor is playing with the price. Changenged a few times while I was looking at it. Purchased the 8/256 version for USD$210 (now available for $215 ).

read somewhere that the 256 version has faster memory.

        In summary
        USD:
        Tablet $210
        Shipping $3
        Coupon -$35
        Tax $21
        Total USD 200

        charged AUD$310

paid in USD on the app with MasterCard no fees

        Hope this helps

  • Can the kids play minecraft on these?

    • yes

  • Ordered one

    Thanks @quill

  • Any with Global ROM for different system language support?

    • +1

Global ROM isn’t any good. Deleting the native apps and installing playstore is easy and leaves very little Chinese in the device as it natively supports English

      • And that will all work with google services? Do you have to install google services manually?

        • +1

          yes
          no

you just download Google app store from their appstore

enable Google Basic Services from the device settings

very easy, look for youtube video

        • +9

I was able to remove the Chineseness:

          • Connect to Wi-Fi.
          • Update system Twice. Settings > About Tablet > System Update
          • Turn on Google Services. Settings > Apps > Google Basic Services (at the bottom of the screen) > Activate 'Google Basic Services'
          • Download Google Play Store from their App Store, use a USB C stick, or use their Internet Browser and download from a website (what I did, I think Softsonic).
          • Once installed, login to Google Services.
          • Start with Gboard to replace its keyboard.
          • Get all the Google services you want, I got a bunch.
          • Get a new UI, I use Smart Launcher 6.
          • Set new UI to be the default.
          • Disable or uninstall all the Chinese apps you can or want.
          • I couldn't uninstall or disable their UI and app store, so I set all the permissions to deny, and battery usage to restricted so it wouldn't consume resources.

System is now Westernized and snappy, Smart Connect is fantastic to share files with a PC or use the tablet as a second screen.

          • +1

@FabMan: How did you get rid of Chinese in package installer? When I install something then it says risks and that part is in Chinese

            • @mikk1000: You have to install the other parts first so you can enable English and the Google services, you cannot disable the Chinese components first otherwise nothing will run on the tablet. You cannot uninstall a few parts of the Chinese software, you have to disable them, you can also clear cache and data as well.

              There are YouTube videos.

              • +1

@FabMan: Yes I understand, I have everything else sorted, its just part of package installer is in Chinese. I'll add screenshot later.

          • +1

@FabMan: Hey mate, did you manage to get Google Assistant working?

  • +1

Can this be used as a 2nd monitor using a usb c to c cable?

    • +1

Without checking, I'd say unlikely. This is a tablet with OS, it could connect to an external monitor but not be used as one. Different technologies/formats.

    • +1

I think it has the right type of USB to be able to do this, but not sure if it’s supported except thru apps

    • +1

u will have to use smart connect app that comes with the tablet, and download it from Windows app store, check some youtube video for this tablet, there are other apps as well that can do this. since it is software based wired or wireless, the mouse on the screen feels like wwwwwaaaaaavvvvvvvyyyyyyyy a little hard to control, but good resolution makes it worth as a second monitor mainly for reference

    • +2

Yes, via software. I use Smart Connect, works well for me. Wi-Fi can be delayed, I find USB snappy, but I don't play games on it, so the delay for games might be a problem. I use the second screen for YouTube, ChatGPT, websites, or manuals, while I do terrible programming on the main screen.

    • You could use it a bit like a traditional monitor if you plug a usb c capture device and connect an output via HDMI. You'd need an app like noir lite on android

  • Does anyone know how to change the Swip Up Global Search to English?

    • +1

in home settings I just changed the desktop style to show drawer style instead - just shows apps in English and you can search for apps as well - very simple
no internet popular searches / recommended apps

  • If you use CashRewards, you might be able to get $25 (limit) cashback.
But you need to use coupon code "SHOP40" instead of "AUWS40" (coupons Not listed in CashRewards will invalid the cashback).

  • Got one of these a couple of months ago. Can’t believe how much tablet you get for $250ish. I was looking at spending 5x the amount on an iPad but 90% satisfied with this

  • Fantastic tablet! Bought one a month or so ago and couldn't be happier. Super fast and responsive. No negatives in my opinion.

  • Anyone in sydney need a free case and screen protector for this? Shoot me a PM!

    • I'll take it if you still have it spare

    • Im interested if available, thnx

      • Sorry guys, taken now!

  • China rom does not work with duolingo currently and many apps are buggy due to forced chinese language on it.

    • Flash it with Global ROM instead?

      • Didn't want to risk bricking the unit so refunded it for a $400 samsung s9 which works brilliantly.

        • that's fair enough. flashing is not for everyone and the risk of bricking is non-zero. $400 isn't too bad for much smoother hassle-free experience.

          • @jc123: Yeap and security update etc to protect your accounts.

        • I was also in the midst of deciding weather to stick to S9 or the Lenovo. So I got both. S9 for $350 and Lenovo for $260. But then decided to sell off the S9 for $600. Used the $250 to offset the cost of the Lenovo. So all in all almost a free tablet.

I’m still using the CN Rom but I haven’t faced any issues really except for the Gemini app which currently has a bug on the Android 15 OS.

          • @TomGum: It's for my kids and games like roblox are buggy and duolingo cannot load past the loading screen so i had to let it go. I wish i got another s9 got $350. Amazing price for a great oled tablet.

          • @TomGum: how on earth did you guys manage to get a galaxy S9 for $350 ??
i guess thru one of those trade-in offers ?

    • +1

did you not change default language to English in the settings? and location?

you can also force English language on apps that you have downloaded from Google playstore in the language settings of they support but don't have to do this individually if you change the default language to English

I have downloaded 7x eng apps from Google playstore, no issues with any of them

but of course, it won't work for the Chinese apps that don't support eng

      • Yeap did all that.

  • Just ordered mine and said there were six left before I ordered mine.
That of course may be BS, but you may want to order soon.

  • anyone faced an issue when VPN doesn't stay on, even though I did set it to run constantly in std VPN settings

  • Does this have usb c video output?

    • USB-C® (USB 5Gbps / USB 3.2 Gen 1), with charging / DP-Out / Audio

      • Thank you. I couldn't find this info on the AliExpress app.

  • +4

For those like me that isn't going to bother putting global rom on, I highly recommend an app called Netguard. It basically lets you set up a local firewall on the device (been using on my phones for years). You can put it in lockdown mode and then select which apps you want to allow network access, this way if there is any random Chinese crap collecting data it should block it.
