  • Is there a decent 8/8.4 inch tablet? Ideally 1080p or better.

    • not sure, search banggood and the coupon may work for that as well

    • I recommend the Mi Pad 4. Performance wise, it similar to the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. I'm running the Bliss 12.10 custom rom.

I bought my 4GB RAM/64GB ROM version from eBay early December 2019 for just under $300 delivered.

I mostly use it for reading comics and playing a few point and click adventure games.

Don't be tempted by the low price of tablet with no name brand chipset. It's worth paying a little more for a trusted brand with snapdragon chipset to get long term custom rom support.

      • Disagree, I bought a Cube tablet and a Mipad 3 at the same time.
The Cube was $100 and still going. The Mipad 3 died years ago and cost x3 of the cheapy.

  • Sounds like a good spec'd tablet vs the 8gb storage rubbish I normally see.

  • +1

Seems like a good tablet for the price.

Edit: OP has same review link already

    • +1

Yeah my kid broke the screen of an old Galaxy S2 so needed a cheapie but a goodie as a replacement.

      • How far out is the delivery estimate?

        • +1

Got an estimated delivery of 13th September

  • +3

Techtablets review is positive. Seems good for eBooks, web browsing and youtube.

Might be cheaper paying through the app

    • In app I see its $171.52

    • Do you get cash back purchasing with the app?

      • Won't be able to use cashback anyway. It has a unlisted coupon

  • Is the delivery time better compare to aliexpress? I bought few stuffs from Aliexpress in April and got those delivered last week.

    • Haven't ordered anything from these places since COVID so not sure.

    • +2

I've order stuff from both. The Banggood order arrived in the time range specified. The Aliexpress order got split even though it was the same seller - one arrived early and the other half arrived late.

    • AliExpress has been killing me lately. Same thing, items from April are tricking in now.

Not sure I'll want this in 2 months

  • +4

If you use the app and select aud it would end up being less than $169

    Just ordered one

    • So pretty close to doing it normally + cash rewards.

      • Cash rewards won't work. It will be denied because it used a non listed coupon

  • +1

$40 extra for Pro gets you 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage.

    • +3

Normally it's good but in this case it's 25% extra and the CPU might not do multitasking well after all.

Perhaps spending $10 bucks on a 64g sd would be a wiser choice.

  • Just ordered - lets hope it will be good!

  • Shipped, but looks like a Fastway tracking number :( Guess I wont see it this month then…

  • +2

    Covid vaccine or this?

    • +1

      this lol

  • Is the price in the title including GST ?

    • +1

Looks like there's a bug. The price will never match the title because its based on USD which keep changing to what the AUD price will be. But seems as tho if you go through the app, the gst is included in the price of 160ish, if you add the coupon the price jump to 190ish with a 30ish discount but if your going through the browser the price doesn't include the gst component and is added at checkout. I paid 180 yesterday, rn its 179 via browsers and 160 via app with coupon

      • Thanks for the reply, just used the app and got it for $171.

  • +3

For anyone interested, I ordered mine from the ALLDOCUBE Factory Store on aliexpress for $143USD including a free case + AU charger. They offer free shipping via DHL so fingers crossed this comes in the next few weeks. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001207973799.html?spm=a2g0sā€¦

    • Around 160aud from bg is alot better

      • Best I could get from Banggood was $170 and with mine it was $190 after Cashback with Cashrewards. You also get a free case which I would have had to buy for $10 so about $10 difference to get DHL shipping which I think is worth it.

    • +1

Already purchased from Banggood…Otherwise, definitely, this would have been better choice.

    • Is there any case with keyboard?

    • Just received my tablet today from aliexpress. Shipping from DHL was super fast. The tablet so far works quite well.

  • Anybody got the order or a trackable tracking number yet?

    • My order got shipped 2 days after placing it, tracking just shows it left the warehouse

      • Yeh same and when I check it on fastway it shows the number doesn't exist. I suspect that they don't have stock and are treating it as a drop ship. Get the label done but not ship it out yet

      • +1

Same. Looks like kommy wins this round :)

    • I got on live chat today to ask about it. CSR couldn't work it out, said they would forward it on and have them email me later which they did.

"We are sorry to tell you that your order is delayed some time due to a decline of international flights, the tracking information cannot be updated recently. We apologize for the inconvenience and will deliver your parcel as soon as possible."

I ordered a case for it from them as well, but my order got split as wasn't stock. The case got a tracking number about a week later, another BN number but same tracking status.

    • +1

And it's landed in Sydney today, that was quick. Aramex will do the delivery.

      • Yeh tracking now showing up on Aramex, says landed last night.
Aramex = Fastway though, so unless they've had any changes other than the name, that means another 2 to 3 weeks (to get to WA anyway, and that was pre-COVID) :(

        • I ordered August 8th and the latest update was "August 10, Package has been sterilized and shipped out." - I think it's going to be a long wait…

          • @Brokenpipes: I ordered on the 9th and it's arrived in Sydney today. Waiting for fastway shivers to deliver it

  • +1

    Tablet arrived today, would recommend.

Build quality is really nice, looks/feels premium. Software is okay, some minor annoyances but fixable (no auto-brightness, gesture navigation only works with default launcher but can be fixed with ADB, some settings are weirdly hidden and only accessible via search box).

Otherwise, screen is good, performance is decent (although was a bit stuttery in Chrome, but was smooth in Samsung Browser and Kiwi so make of that what you will). Mainly intending to use as a media/reading device and its excellent for that.

    For $170 it's a steal imo

    • You mention media as in Netflix, prime, Disney+? I doubt this will have widevine so would be SD

      • +1

yep widevine L3 so SD only

I don't use streaming services so wasn't a factor for me, but should have mentioned.

      • Got mine a couple of days ago, forgot to check about widevine as I use it a lot for streaming content … and tbh, after watching a few movies on Netflix it looks fine to me.

I'm not expecting cinema-like quality but I'm not getting that excessive blurred, stepped edge look of scaled low-res that I thought might get.

So for me I'd still count it as an upgrade to my FireHD 8.

Then again, I'm kind of wishing I'd known about the Alldocube X Neo before getting this one šŸ˜‚

  • Arrived today. Was stuck in syden for about a week

    • Did you get any updates on fastway tracking?

Mine still says processed at sortation facility Sydney, since two weeks ago.

Aramex is telling me it's an automated scan and they don't even have the parcel in their network yet…

      • Mine was at sortation for 5days, then picked up and another 2 days to be delivered. Tracking would be hours behind

    • Mine is still stuck at the Sydney sort station since the 18th August. Delivery to Perth

      • Yeah same, processed at Syd Sortation facility 24th August, waiting to get it in Perth

      • Happy to say just got mine delivered now (to Perth) Mine was same, sortation on 18th. Wasn't any further tracking updates apart from now showing as delivered.
Now waiting for the case that got shipped separately (like brokenpipes, sortation on the 24th for that one)

  • I got mine today. Every thing seems to work fine except for the vibrate option. Is anyone else having problems with the tablet not vibrating when you press keys on the keyboard etc?

Other than that it's an excellent tablet for the price. Would buy again

    • +1

Is this tablet supposed to have vibration? Most tablets I've had in the past don't though the cheap ones would sometimes still have the settings for it (although the last cheapo one I got, an Onda, did actually have a vibration motor which surprised me)

    • +1

No vibration, the setting is just on by default because although it's a tablet it can also be used as a phone, so it has some of those features enabled even if it doesn't have the hardware, (like phones have it enabled by default).

    • Thanks. Good to know mine is not faulty. Unfortunately though after a few days of use I'm getting around 3-3.5 hours on a full battery with max brightness. Normal non intensive use. Still very happy with it for the price. Such a good screen.

      • I've had mine for over a week, I don't run it at full brightness, (normally about 70-80%), but I usually watch two movies a night on it, (via WiFi), and the battery drops to ~60%, (using BT earphones). The next day I'm usually reading Reddit, Mastodon, Telegram, or the web for 3 hours or so.

        Currently: Screen on: 6hrs 1min, Battery: 43%

Do you have a lot of apps running in the background?

What ROM version is it on, (there was an update available that I installed when I got it)?
        Firmware

Considering the price, this is a very good tablet, (although there are now same hardware based tablets that cost less, I think Teclast just brought one out).

Just a mention, followed the instructions for the firmware update and my IMEI numbers changed … something I thought shouldn't have happened but who knows.

  • Anyone still waiting on theirs? Mine's still been stuck at the Sydney sortation facility since the 18th August

    • That sucks, especially being the OP. I thought yours would have gone out around the same time as me with both of us in Perth. I also received my case for it 2 days after (was sent 5 days after the tablet)

As far as I can tell, those scans are pretty much worthless. When I emailed them, this was the reply:

"The scans you see are an automated scan from Parcel Freight Logistics warehouse (distribution center your sender has chosen)- our customer. The parcel is yet to be physically scanned into our Aramex/Fastway Network. We do not have this parcel as of yet and we will monitor your enquiry and advise you once your parcel has entered the Aramex/Fastway network."

BTW, didn't hear anything further from them, next thing I know they were knocking on my door with it (couple of days after their reply). After it was delivered tracking updated with an Onboard for delivery and Delivered (onboard datestamped 30 seconds prior to delivery so that was helpful)

Might want to enquire about it. They have WhatsApp chat support as well, not sure if it's live or not though but may get a better response.

      • Yeah they replied a few hours later via WhatsApp:

HI, unfortunately we have not received this consignment into our network, the scans showing on tracking system are not physical scans on the parcel.
This is an automated scan generated from the Supplier as being received and is being sorted to be passed on to us.
However, at this stage we have not received this parcel and will not be able to provide you an ETA as yet.
Please refer to our website for further updates on scans.
If you still have any further questions please refer back to Sender to make further arrangements.

        • And got delivered today on a Sunday, weird never had weekend deliveries

          • @FeZZa21: Yeh had a few Aramex deliveries recently, mostly on weekends. Surprised haven't seen Auspost delivering on weekends too like they do during Christmas rush, given they reckon they are so overloaded with parcels from COVID.

Good to hear yours didn't go astray anyway.
