Got free return flights to HK before the riots with Cathay Pacific. Full service airline was a treat.

Never said it wasn't a bargain. But glad I & others here got it for $1 in a Deal. That was a great bargain!

As others are finding out, booking a new flight to get back in time before border closes - can be very expensive!
It may not be a good time to travel if you can't afford to pay for 14 days hotel quarantine.
Hotel costs + extra cleaning+ proper security + meals..
I heard $1000 per night in some places, and most travel insurance won't cover pandemics… $55 flight + $14k fees…worth it.. probably not.
No love for Melbourne?
Flights are kinda closed from/to Vic for the most part…unless people want to quarantine
In normal times, there is too much love for Melbourne.
So many overseas flights are cheaper from there, despite the extra distance than from Sydney or Brisbane to Asian destinations.
Melbourne is simply the best.
In my many travels, I've found places where the locals have to keep convincing each other of how good their place is…
And rubbish other places & people to make themselves look better…
It's like a very insecure spoilt teenager. You don't want to hang around them! Otherwise you become as bitter & twisted as them.
I never return! Luckily those places are usually easily avoided.
When people don't even realise how good their place is or quietly appreciate it… & then you find it IS great - It's a real joy to visit or live there!! There is honesty & genuineness, rather than pretence. They are surprised I want to stay longer.
In all things, it's Best not to believe your own hype!
