[ACT] Free Entry to Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve (8 August to The End of 2020)

830

Canberrans can get their nature fix for free from Saturday (8 August), with the ACT Government waiving entry fees to Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve until the end of 2020.

Minister for the Environment and Heritage Mick Gentleman said the ACT Government had put a hold on all entry fees into the reserve to encourage visitors to return to the park.

“There’s never been a better time to visit Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve,” he said.

“Parts of the park were closed earlier in the year following the Orroral Valley Bushfire and we’ve upgraded the visitor centre in response to COVID-19.

“The reserve is a great day-trip option right on our doorstep as we continue to urge Canberrans to reconsider their need to travel unless it is for essential reasons.”

        😢

  • It costs transport plus $1650 fine. Cannot afford.

  • Been a couple of times when visiting Canberra. Without a doubt they have the best slide in the ACT, which is saying a lot because there is no shortage of parks in the ACT it seems.

  • Beauty. Might drive up from Melbourne just for this!

    • Account for 2weeks iso

      • If you come thru the burnt out mountains on dirt roads you might make it undetected but as of a few hours ago a State of Emergency has been declared and police will supposedly be checking roads into the Territory. Odd there's no mention of rail travellers.

        Travellers from Victoria
Under a Public Health Direction, anyone (other than ACT residents) travelling into the ACT from Victoria will be denied entry to the ACT unless they are granted an exemption by ACT Health.

You should apply for an exemption as early as possible, and at least 72 hours before your intended travel date, wherever possible.

If you are travelling by plane, you will be met at the airport and required to provide evidence that you are an ACT resident and have notified ACT Health of your return to the ACT.

ACT residents will be able to return home from Victoria, but they will be required to enter quarantine until 14 days after leaving Victoria, and must notify ACT Health of their intention to return.

      • Plus $1652 fine if caught

        • Leaving Vic or entering the ACT?

          Ah I see: https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/food/restaurants-bars/melb…

Can't wait for the magistrate to lecture him on the age-old principle that ignorance of the law is no excuse. He must be one of just a few who didn't bother to read the stage 4 rules. More likely he just thought they only apply to others.

@[Deactivated]: But his breach was on 17 July under stage 3, when you could travel for food. Stage 4 only came in on 2 August.

            • @bargain_knight: My bad, sorry. The principle remains. He obviously broke stay at home rules which applied at that time. No excuse for ignorance in the current Vic situation. Imagine the chaos if everyone flouted the rules because of their "cravings" for food, grog, social contact, fresh air, exercise…..

        Yes, at least 3.

    • They're pretty shy but they're there!

  • It’s been free for at least the last 6 weeks apparently ACT gov decided to stop charging a while ago.

  • Charging to see nature, reminds me of that song about replacing trees with carparks
