  • Monitor discounted because the screen is bent

    • If it wasn’t, it’d be judged defective.

      • I didn't realise you could call something defective just because it is not discounted

        • “bent”

Ah that joke never gets old, it just lacks any form of humour.

    • lol its safer than mentioning the CCP. I guess. :P

      • No, no. It forever endures, just like the CCP.

Let’s Encrypt certificate commenced 23 June. Let’s Encrypt is great for users, but I’d never trust an enterprise using it - 90 day validity is noncommittal.

Not being an ass here, but it sounds like you may be out of the loop on this one. Shorter validity periods are superior from a security standpoint and are perfectly commonplace these days, also automation has all but completely resolved the hassle (and effectively the cost).

e.g. you can see that the cert on https://www.google.com is only valid for just under 3 months, and in fact Google, Apple, and Mozilla are all moving to a maximum validity period of 398 days starting September 1st. After this date, their browsers and devices will start throwing errors for certs with a longer period.

Gearbite has been the defacto preferred ozbargain retailer for Xiaomi gadgets for about 3 years now. To the best of my knowledge they've always been communicative on pre and post sales and have provided good after sales service during that time.

I bought a robovacuum from them a couple years back. No complaints although I haven't required any after sales support.

  • Any swivel stand to recommend for this monitor?

    • Books work great!

      • Workstation coming short in depth, needed a little more distance for viewing.

  • I received my Xiaomi Mi Curved today, can anyone confirm if the Monitor does have speakers and can output audio? b'cos I can't hear any audio when connected to laptop, though I can see some 'Mi Monitor' in the audio settings. Think there could be some issue with my laptop, so tied with Chromecast also but still no sound. Also I can notice the Audio options in the settings where I can select the audio input and volume level tried that too, no luck.

Contacted Gearbite, but Gearbite responses is "not sure if the monitor contains any speakers and there is no mention of audio in the descriptions".

In YouTube I can see reference of volume: https://youtu.be/tmKNcY8q8zM?t=852

Can anyone confirm if the monitor contains speaker and can output sound.

    • I see no mention of speakers in the specs. It can output sound in the sense it can take the incoming audio from the HDMI and output it to a headphone/speaker on a 3.5mm jack.
