    Sigh so dodgy.

Dec/Jan is also their wet season, around 500mm rain… not sure why they'd want to charge you extra for that ????

      • +1

christmas bud… $2 a day extra so the islanders can serve you breakfast on christmas day.

I just commited an ozbargain sin… Giving JV a positive vote

I'd "+ve" your comment, but I've already used up my quote of +ve's for today…

        • +2

Ahh, the fabled, self-imposed jv positive votes quota has been used up I see! My second ode to you lol:

          Hates titles without costings,
          Details left from postings,
          Rep's Inflated savings
          and 1st poster's pleadings.

Ignoring is futile or soon red you'll see.
Edit quickfast or it's neg from jv

That's the busiest time of the year for them. Most travel during Christmas, especially the rich Tahitians living at Papeete.

Most other time it is quite empty.

"Communal Tax of 150 CFP (SGD $2.30; approx. AU$1.90) per night per person is not included in price"

    dealbreaker for me…

    • Communal Tax - so it's backpacker bunk beds?

What I hate about these deals is that it's "subject to availability"
So you have to buy the voucher, then see if the dates you want are free. Otherwise it's "Non-refundable and non-exchangeable"

This 150 CFP is charged for all hotels at French Polynesia, mandated by the government. Not a problem there.

Just give you some reference here, a 1.5L bottle of water purchased at supermarkets at French Polynesia is about 300 CFP.

i plus voted you guys…. but then saw the conversion rate afterwards.

    150 CFP = $1.90 AU. x6 nights x2 people = $22.80.

I think if you're already spending $2275 PLUS flights, the $22.80 isnt going to break the bank :).
And in regards to the peak surcharge…. thats fair enough too. Look at the dates- CHRISTMAS/NEW YEARS WEEK.

This deal doesnt actually look too bad. Flights would kill it for me though.

    • Do Bora Boran's celebrate Christmas though or just Easter ????

      • +1

I have no issue with the additional $22.80, my issue is the fact that it wasnt disclosed in the price. Its deceptive and misleading and a generally douchy thing to do. Thats why airlines are forced to include all taxes in their advertised prices.

Many hotels around the world have added charges such as luxury tax, service tax blah blah blah, and often it is not included in the price quote. This is no different. Maybe it should be at the top of the T&Cs, but it's there - albeit not in flashing bold font. Having said that, as a buyer of anything from these coupon sites you would be out of you mind to buy without thoroughly reading the T&Cs, especially for such high ticket items.

Nice price for a very nice place. Still well out of my budget, hopefully one day :)

  • Awesome pricing for a fabulous hotel deal!

Spreets rep, I have already emailed the hotel, but if you have answers to any of the following please post back.

    • Will my stay and spend count towards HHonours?
    • Can we upgrade (using cash or HH points) to an over water room?
    • Will Diamond HHonours be recognised for purposes of room upgrade?

    Edit:
Re point 2, read up on flyertalk. Upgrading via points is daylight robbery. Cash upgrade might be good if available.
Re point 3, seems hit and miss :(

    • Hiya, please email your enquiries to [email protected] as they are the agent and they will be able to get back to you on your specific enquiries and not the resort itself.

  • ASSUMING that this deal is actually honoured and easily bookable then it is an absolutely fantastic deal. It is a massive bargain given EVERYTHING is so expensive at French Polynesia!

But then again I keep hearing about coupons/vouchers not honoured in the news, so it is a question

  • You do realise that a lagoon view suite at the H is onshore? A budget room at a lower tier resort? Why bother? You go to Bora Bora to stay in an overwater bungalow at the St Re, Four Seasons or Intercon Thalasso, not to scrimp and save. For the same money as this 'deal' and flights, you could have a real island holiday in the Cook Islands.

It's like flying to NY and then staying at the Holiday Inn in Newark to save money.

    False economy FTL.

  • Looks great but does anyone know how you search for flight prices there?

Best I've found so far is

    http://www.travel.com.au/international-airfares/cheap-flight…

but you have absolutely no idea when the cheaper flights are. I kept typing in random dates and couldn't find anything less than $1900 return.

    • Try dates around Feb-Mar which is quiet season and far enough off. First I tried gave $1484, but that's with QF.
