Was looking for the Costco deal on here and searched on their website to see if they had it online. They don’t, but it appears that Amazon are price matching and have free delivery.
Much easier if you aren’t a Costco member or are >5km away from a Costco in Melbourne.

Cheaper again with the 6% on Kitchen from Cashrewards/Shopback.

The multi cooker gets good reviews overall and comes with two pots for flexibility.

Mod edit: Prices in Title should NOT include any referral discounts or cashback (commission refunds) - include that in the deal description instead. See Guideline

This one doesn't come with the stainless steel pot either. Most reviews state stainless steel is way better.

  • Is it just me or if you use these to cook porridge the stuff is just going to come out of the air vent as the pressure is released? How to avoid this?

    • +1

      Don't overfill the pot.

When we cook porridge we leave it to stand for around 20 minutes after it's turned off to let the steam release on it's own, otherwise you have a bit of mess. We cook ours using a trivit and 2 cups of water at the bottom and we put the porridge, water and milk in a pyrex jug, pressure cooked for 25 minutes. One cook traditional oats, 1 1/2 cup light milk and 1 1/2 cups of water.

I find this so weird. I bought the Crock Pot version of this and the only thing it releases from the vent is steam, not sure why this wouldn't be the same?

Also, porridge in the cooker only takes 5 mins, 20 sounds excessive

        • +1

We tested different times and that was the consistency that we like. If you release it too early the porridge makes a mess, if you leave it to release naturally no mess at all and the porridge is still hot.

let it releases the pressure naturally without forcing the pressure out. So you just wait after it finishes cooking.

Same @ Myer with free del https://www.myer.com.au/p/philips-all-in-one-coker-silver-hd…

Given that It was much cheaper earlier, hard to justify https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/515559

    • Expired and the equivalent 5.7 L pot is $269 atm.

Not the insta pot. But I have posted the Philips on 10th Aug

  • Best pressure cooker I have ever used, died after 5 years.

  • Just be aware that the gasket (which comprises of a a set of round rubbery silicone ring that wraps around the lid and a smaller ring that goes near the floater valve assembly) will eventually wear out. It's a good idea to buy a spare set from eBay or Aliexpress (doesn't cost much, only $6~14 total) to keep around the house.

The gaskets on mine failed around the 3 year mark, and that's with fairly light use.

I think this one from Amazon only comes with one bowl, the Costco one comes with the extra stainless steel bowl

    • Yep the Costco one comes with 2 bowls

Never had a Multi Cooker and was thinking of getting one, would this be the one to get ? or am i better off with the Breville ? or Instant Pot.

Sorry about silly questions but i dont know which features to even compare

    • I need these answers too, its important to know. Cheap as this Philips is, are we better off with something more?

  • I bought one from Myer last week (my first multi cooker), delivered after 2 days (Melbourne). It's actually 1300W not 1000W (I think the previous model was 1000W but the 2019 model is 1300W).

I've made two risottos and some other stuff and I am loving the pan so far. The risottos were delicious!

I bought the second pot from Amazon, and I strongly believe that it should just be part of the set as it is if you buy from Costco.

Some notes from having one of there for a couple of months, in case anyone is still considering this model:
    - Philips indicated that you should not wash the silicone ring or inner lid in the dishwasher (or the outer lid, but that makes sense),
    - In my experience the ring takes on odours and unless you wash soak in vinegar and baking soda and then wash with the same for 20+ minutes (or ignore Philips advice on putting it in dishwasher which causes it to expand slightly) it releases those odours in the next cook,
    - The outer lid isn't well designed IMHO in that it will get a lot of condensation build up during use and is only washable by wiping it with a soapy wash cloth,
    - The rice cooking function is way off (unless you like rice coming out like congee), with the 14 minute cook time not able to be changed.

I do have bit of buyers remorse, and think I should have gone with the Fast Slo Pro or an Instant Pot (the latter I believe is fully dishwasher safe for ring and inner lid, but feel free to correct me). That all said, I have used it to cook almost every meal since I purchased it and it is a mostly great product, just not without flaws.

I needed to buy the stainless steel pot, which it doesn't come with as standard from Amazon, but shipping on it was quick.

    • Can't you use the manual option instead of the preset rice option for rice? i.e. to set the time yourself

      • The rice setting is under the pressure cooker menu and unlike some of the other options, you cant change the time. I don't think there is a way to change pressure and temp for the other pressure cooker options that do allow you to change the time. That said, I might be making an assumption that the pressure cooker options have different pressures and temperatures.

If you are having success cooking rice with another setting, please let me know. At the moment, I just set a separate timer and press cancel part way through - though I still haven't got the ratio and time down as well as I had for the rice cooker this was replacing.

        • I do not have this model, but I have previously owned a Sunbeam pressure cooker and have used the Breville fast slow pro a few times. It is my understanding that every pressure cooker will have a manual mode where you set the time yourself. The preset modes like rice, beans, soup etc are just presets (and are the manufacturer's suggestions) and you can easily recreate these modes with manual mode.

Ok I have looked at the manual for this model and there is indeed a manual mode. So you would press manual mode and then increase the cooking time by pressing cooking time. It doesn't even look like you can change the temp or pressure (I've just gleaned the manual, I could be wrong).

My sunbeam was never that detailed either, I could only set "high" and "low" pressure. But I only ever used high and manual mode or the rice setting (which worked).

The Breville one however, has all sorts of settings including pressure, you could set it to whatever you wanted (i.e the number of psi).
