  • I'm very tempted to get 2 of these and have a dual screen setting….

The U2412M is better value when it's on sale IMO as it can do 1920x1200 compared to the 1920x1080 for this screen. Still, this is a good price for a good 23" e-IPS panel.

    • -5

      U2412M is still e-IPS dude…

      • +7

        Did he say it wasn't?

      • +13

Dude this might sound incredible; but some people use computer for working; and they prefer 16:10.

        • +3

I have one of each :) work on one side, play on the other

        • -6

          yeah ppl do do work

but most of us aren't rich and prefer one monitor that can do multiple things

          work and play..

16:9 is still the best All in one..

      • +4

So i can either have black bars or the equivalent size of wall instead, i would choose the black bars.

Anyway the tossers in the movie industry don't use 16:9 anyway, and there is a lot more non wide screen TV (if your counting older shows) so its either 4:3 or 1.37:1 (or some slight variation) for older TV and movies.

I see no valid reason for 16:9 monitors to exist unless the ONLY thing you ever want to do with them is watch HD TV.

Perhaps 16:10 screens should just reproduce what is behind the screen and then the 16:9 people would like them.

        • with 16:9 the visable area is less than 16:10 which means manufacturers use less material in same size, thats y and its ture.

    • You don't pay by the pixel ;)

16:10 is better for some, others prefer 16:9. You cant say that one is universally better than the other.

      • +2

I use 2x identical 24" 16:10 dells and i never want to go back to 16:9.

People who cry about the black bars dont know what they're talking about.

    • when was the last time the U2412M was on sale ?

  • Approx $200 ($202-203) after moneybackco :)

    • So is there also a $10 yearly fee for MBC?

      • +1

yes. but it's deducted from your money earned through them. (i.e. you do not really have to pay it upfront and it does not really cost you anything to join)

      • If you are already earning cash back from MBC, then its not a problem. If you are using it for the first time and will not do it again, then yes you should pass. I have already get around 100 dollars cash back from them and paid the membership fees.

You can buy piza from dominos, from dick smith, dell and many other famous outlets and earn cashback. Small earnings also becomes some cash after a while.

One thing also to note is that it takes 2-3 months for money to come to ur account.

Having recently bought 2 U2412M's I'm not in the need for a monitor.. What I will say is that I believe the U2412M's use grade B panels. Each monitor I bought has a dead green subpixel.. It's annoying and frustrating.

While the Dell premium panel guarantee covers you for any bright number of pixels, they allow up to 6 dead subpixels before considering the monitor defective..

Dell IPS monitors are generally very good and have an amazing stand but be warned (from personal experience)…

How do LGs new budget IPS displays compare?

  • Question ( silly or not ): How would you rate this monitor against the others branch, such as LG, Samsung ect … ?
Do they all "die" after a certain years ( pass warranty time ) ?

    • i am using an old 17 ACER LCD monitor that was bought many years ago. It is still working well but looking for a bigger replacement (feel guilty saying that). My mate bought a Samsung 23 over a year ago. It died a couple of months ago, just outside warranty period. So we came to the conclusion that Samsung was no good, although u d like to think a TV producer should produce good computer monitors too. Any way, he bought a new Acer and lived happily ever after for the last couple of month (fingers crossed). Not sure about Dell or Philip that recently had a lot of sale on, but a lot of work places use Dell and HP computers and monitors, so guess it should be of reasonably good quality.

      • A lot of monitors have 3-yrs warranty. this Dell one have even replacement warranty
"The U2312HM monitor comes with 3 years of Advanced Exchange Service2, a Limited Hardware Warranty and Premium Panel Guarantee. "

        • $215 for 3yrs, i think it's well spend $ then.

        • thanks! have told matey to check it out!

      • thank you for you reply.
        I do agree that old computer device last longer ( i have a 4yrs+ samsung 19" ).
Yes newly made (2-3yrs ago) computer devices more likely to broken after warranty day.
I think Dell & Hp have deals with business(sale in big numbers), it's "no one" money so, ppl cant really pick n choose, moreover, company can put those PC into their tax return. And they change PC after 3-4yrs.

All those reasons are why im asking if this Dell is good for personal use.

        • good luck with it if u get one. Dell is a reputable brand after all. i m still wait and see. maybe get one before xmas! so many things to buy!!!

I hate you Ozbargain! You make me spend money I shouldn't…….

  • I can only see the price as $319?

How do I get the $215?

    • I can't see $319 anywhere…Its also now $214.99 which is even stranger.
Just Click on the above link? :/

      • Yeah I did before, came up with page not found so I went to the page manually.

Link works for me now, thanks :)

  • One thing to note is that these have an 8ms response time. Might be a turn-off for some hardcore gamers out there though I'm not sure if that will translate to a big deal day to day.
