Too early for a beer and I don't see any sexist or derogatory comments here. I'm sorry if you feel that way as these people are usually very nice.

My advice is do a walk around and note all the things you think need doing.

Then pay a trusted mechanic to do a report with some price estimates. Go from there.

The Statesman is a nice old boat that will hold value now that Holden has gone bye-bye but the V8 would be better still.
I had a VR executive and a Berlina. Both good cars for what they cost but the brakes and suspension were incredibly under-done.

  • You'd start by knowing the end goal. Show car, burnout car, sleeper car, etc etc.

  • Jump on a car forum.

Like all good Commodore projects… Take it to the nearest freeway and burn it.

      Single-peggers the whole way there?

    • You clearly don’t live in Vic, you take it to Melts or Dandy to rip some hektik skids and then it gets impounded. The ironic part is that it hardly breaks traction and the single spinners aren’t dangerous but still has everyone clutching their pearls whilst you have to tell all your friends it’s a sleeper and you don’t want to blow a diff.

  • Make a list.

How long are you going to keep it and what is your budget. Spend to get the thing roadworthy and safe (Fix dodgy suspension/steering etc). Any rust that needs attention? Who is going to do the work?

Watch Wheeler Dealers for a bit of inspiration and ideas.

  • "where would you normally start if it was Yours please?"

This Boostcruising? trade for fish tank and xbox controller.
