Yeah, i'm not telling my wife about this one.

I visit Ozbargain just for comments like these!

$466 for a hair dryer ? What a crazy world we live in.

    • It's not a hairdryer, this is

      • +1

Post mentions "Hairdryer comes to $466.65 with 15% off."

        • -7

It's more of a styling tool. You'd be using it for ages if you tried to dry your long hair with it …

Also just 'cause OP said it doesn't necessarily mean they're correct.

        • +1

          OP was referring to this.

    • If you were a woman who had a good paying job where your appearance was a factor, then maybe sure. Or even a man with long hair. Why not spend $700 on a hair dryer, if $700 to you represents less a proportion of your disposable income than $50 does to the average person. You have to keep looking good to keep earning that money.

For $700 though couldn't you buy one of those big helmet hair dryer things salons use.

      • Why not just buy a salon and employee a part-time hair stylist at this rate.

  • Great price op. Have you owned one before? Thoughts on its value and its effectiveness?

    • -3

      Value= waaaaay overpriced
Effectiveness= same as one that costs $30

      • +1

Effectiveness= same as one that costs $30

You sure about that? People are raving. Have you used one before? Interested in your honest opinion.

        • I have everything dyson and even the hair-dryer is worth it but this airwrap definitely isn't even if they sold it for 300. It hardly holds a curl and takes much longer to style your hair. Better off with a GHD or look into the new GHD curler where it is wireless but skip this

    • +1

I tried one, and it definitely makes you want it cos it's a hair dryer and styler combo. That said for that price you could get a hair dryer, a curler, and a straightener….

The people I know who own the Dyson hair dryer say their hair quality has improved using the Dyson over normal hair dryers.
The people I know who own the Dyson airwrap say it is excellent, but it… hasn't changed their life, and for that eyewatering price it… should change your life.

      • -2

for that eyewatering price it… should change your life.

In what way would you expect a product of this type and price range to change your life? Is it going to make you rich? famous or popular? more attractive?

        • No, but it should make you wonder how you ever lived without it

      • Compared to a normal hairdryer. But about compared to a non dyson hairdryer that is as powerful? Is it better than a $200 hair dryer with the same power rating.

    • +4

Since you're not getting any replies from people who own one, I'll just say my wife absolutely loves it and it's probably one of the most useful things I've ever bought for her. Hard to specify why it is so good, but basically she can get from shower to ready to go out much faster and she thinks her hair looks better than if she dried and styled it any other way. Only thing is she feels it doesn't straighten well, so she still uses a straightener if that's the look she's going for. It comes with a dryer attachment, although I'm not sure how that compares to the dedicated dyson hair dryer.

  • Thanks OP! My wife has been wanting their straightener for a while and this brings it down to a still eye watering $594 (from $699). Just in time for our anniversary.

    • +1

If she wants a straightener, then I recommend a GHD hair straightener (mine is almost 10 years old and not a fault to be found). Dyson is way overpriced. Wayyyy overpriced.

      • +19

She has a GHD already. It's about 7 years old, and I bought it for her then as well! She has the Dyson Airwrap and absolutely loves it for reasons I only understand as it makes her hair look really good. Unfortunately it doesn't really give her the same effect as the straightener. Why does she need one when she already has a good one? Coming up to 10 years happily married I learned long ago not to ask those questions, lest she ask if my computer really needed a $200 RAM upgrade (it didn't…).

        • +8

^This guy wifes, am i right?

        • +3

You've learned some solid lessons in 10 years dear OzBargainer. Well done.

    • Looks like they’ve removed the discount for the straightener

    • But it said sale excludes the corrale

      • +1

My order went through, have the receipt for one Dyson Corrale Nickel/Fuschia with a discount of $104.85 and total price of $594.15 including delivery. Also got a $20 gift voucher on top from one of their codes. I suspect they adjusted it after I ordered one, but it definitely didn't say excludes corrale when OP first posted.

  • These go any lower than 15% off ever?

    • +1

Sometimes ebay has a 20% off sale. But it is few and far between.

    • 25% off from time to time if you know someone who works in Australia Post. Last one was in April, the one prior was in November.

    • Yes, in last year's Click Frenzy; the hairdryers were discounted from $549 to $349 - a difference of $200 (approx. 36-37%).

  • +3

Wife says its convient. saves alot of time she uses almost daily.

make sure you learn how to use it. Alot of youtube reviews.

Great purchase I would say its moved "time to get ready" time in almost half.

    • +2

Can second this, it's pretty much what my wife says, and she thinks her hair looks better using the dyson. I obviously nod my head in agreement.

    • +5

if the wifey can shave her "getting ready" time in half I'd happily pay $700 for that investment

Price match at the goodguys for extra 10% off and 100 giftcard

    • Worth a go, not sure if Adorebeauty is listed in their 'approved retailers' for pricematch cos goodguys is tricky that way.

      • Called the nearest GG that had it in stock and it didn't work since AdoreBeauty isn't on their approved retailers. I'm sure if I went in person and talked to a manager I'd have a better shot.. but would likely still walk away with a no.

    • you mean price beat? I don't think TGG does that….care to explain more?

  • +1

Add code: BONUS for an extra freebie (choice of three items).

  • +3

For anyone looking to buy the Dyson Supersonic - I just bought for my wife via Good Guys. Slightly better deal than this (and arguably the direct from Dyson deal for $494 unless you value the two bonus gifts they throw in). Works out to be about $482.10 (incl delivery) if you stack the AUGUST10 code and $20 Latitude Credit. GG also has a $50 eGift Card for purchasing specifically the supersonic which brings it down to effectively $432.10 and then throw on 3% cashback. Not the cheapest its been but not bad saving.

    • Thanks, Jason2615. That’s what I’m looking for!! 😁

    • Wow that is peak ozbargaining if I've ever seen it.

    • this guy ozbargains

    • I was looking at the airwrap. With 10% off, would end up at $719 plus $100 store credit if you click and collect.

      • How do you get 10% off at good guys ?

  • Dam, long barrel one is sold out

    • You can buy the long barrels separately as well from dyson for $50.

      • They're $49 each so if you want both 30mm and 40mm long barrels you need to shell out $98.

  • +3

In case anyone wants a honest opinion: its great if you have long/ super thick hair/ wash your hair very often and need to speed dry it? else not really worth the money imo.

    • +1

      Thanks dawg

    • Serious question: wouldn't a barrel brush and a hair dryer do the same job? (I have thick hair that usually takes the hairdresser about 30min to blowdry).

      • +1

Well it takes a professional 30 mins BC 1) professional 2) easier to style/dry hair when you're doing it on someone else.

It does the same job but unless you're really good with the barrel and hairdryer I don't think it will be as quick.

The Dyson is super quick and makes it easy to style your hair ( I literally used my fingers and this hairdryer in Japan BC I didn't have a brush and it still styled my hair very well).

Trade off is that it's really really expensive so it's really your call. If you spend a lot of hours drying your hair maybe do a cost Benefit analysis.

        • Thanks for the reply :) I've just started using a barrel brush + hairdryer and it kills my arms.

          P.S. I always thought 30min was a long time! :P

          • @ssx: Yeah I would consider this purchase in your case. I have thin and short hair so I managed to dry and style my hair in 10 mins (the final look was equivalent to what I would get if I used a straightener).

  • damnn I just bought one 2 days ago from Dyson for 10% off @ $719.10

    • how did you get 10% off?

      • I went on Dyson website and waited for chat to pop up. Then asked them for a discount as I had purchased one of their products previously, and they gave me 10% off.
Also, you can get 10% off being a new sign up member with Sephora.

    This airwrap is life changing!!

  • +1

Anyone tried this on their beard?

  • Hi,

How do you bring the Airwrap down to $634 ? I understand the cashrewards, but the $20 voucher is after buying the product. So isn’t it $654 plus the $20 voucher ?

    Thanks

  • Wonder if the Dyson hairdryer will ever go cordless?

  • Anyone's been dispatched yet? Still waiting.

  • Anyone able to get the $20 welcome voucher OP referred to?

    • You get it when you buy something so in reality, its $654(after cashback) + $20 discount
