Probably not big enough to run the new 3090 coming out

    • +25

If you can afford RTX3090, you can afford a quality PSU.

So far, the speculation is 350W TDP for RTX3090 alone.

      • If you can afford RTX3090, you can afford a quality PSU.

He could be in a bind, like only having enough for that but not enough for quality PSU? So gotta forego something….and he chose that instead…

Maybe terrorists captured his grandpa and will only release him if he purchases a god tier GPU and a cheap power supply. Happened to me.

  • 5 Years Limited Manufacturer Warranty. Good, but I would go for 10y.

    • +1

That's minimum I would say for warranty. 5 years
Some PSUs are 10-12 years warranty

    • +4

Actually 7 years. A lot of EVGA PSUs have extra 2 years of warranty upon registration.

      • I have a gold 650W EVGA that's been 2 years in the running but suddenly just packed up. Unfortunately I lost the receipt and I can't remember where I bought it from. I contacted EVGA directly and was asked to return the faulty unit back to their service center in Taiwan. The only issue is, cheapest rate I could find for sending a 3.5KG PSU to Taiwan is more than $80. I'm thinking it's a bit of gamble with many overseas shipments will take months to arrive if it ever at all. Has anyone got any experience claiming warranty directly to EVGA?

        • +4

Let them know how expensive shipping is. I've heard a few times that evga will tell you to destroy the unit instead of returning it and then they'll ship replacement unit.

Not sure why, but its a Tier C on the Linus Tech Tips PSU Tier List

    • +1

Tier C • Recommended for cheap mid/low-end systems

Different psu's get different categories of ratings. It's still a recommended psu.

      • +1

It's also a different PSU to the one on the list. The ones on that list are US sold and only come in 650/750/850 etc, not 600W, so this might have different internals. Only negative of the original ones I could see in the spreadsheet/review is that it didn't use LLC as the primary topology. The actual review of those units from Johnny Guru was very positive.

    • Basically, the main issue is the voltage ripple. Even though Johnny Guru gave an overall positive review for the 650 version, the review did mention the voltage ripple being inferior. Tom's hardware is more picky on voltage ripple.

Another reason that it is tier C is because the good EVGA PSUs are mostly made by SuperFlower. This one isn't. So, it is not the top notch EVGA you know, but it does have EVGA sticker. To be honest, I still have a SuperFlower PSU, but I don't use it anymore because it has a coil whine issue when GPU is used (it's a pity because the design is pretty good). So, you cannot rely on brand and even top PSU makers can make inferior products.

If you are building a mid/low-end system and want semi-modular PSU, at this price point, it is worth considering. Mainly because at this price, you really cannot expect a top notch PSU unfortunately.

    • why would this matter? (curious)

      • +2

The oem is the one who manufactures it for the brand (evga), and some oems will tend to produce better performing products than others

    • I have an FSP branded 300W Gold PSU in my PC right now, works fine for a 200W system.

  • Using Evga 650 G+ my self, solid psu

  • This enough to run 8gb graphics, 32gb ram, 2 mechanical disks, 1 nvme2, 3600cpu not over clocked?

    • Should be ok unless you have a vega 64…

surprised this hasn't been negged yet, much more limited stocks than those eBay deals

  • How much shipping to Melb metro?

  • Great price. Wish there was an SFX alternative.

  • ok-ish price, the gigabyte g750h that techfast were putting in as their uprgade psu was a better deal, those were selling as low as $115 from time to time

  • Anyone have an idea on how loud this PSU is? thinking of getting a new PSU for my old i5-2500 I'm turning into NAS.

  • +1

EVGAs make awesome, robust PSUs. Been using my 750w SuperNova G2 80+ Gold for 8yrs now. it's dead silent, bought a set of cabelmod white sleeved psu cables recently to fit my pc theme.

    • That's their seasonic OEM range I believe. This series was a cheaper lower quality OEM but still decent (all EVGA , cool master, Corsair & others are rebrands of OEMs).

  • +1

Good price, sucks building a PC in covid paid $200 delivered for a gold 750w Corsair

  • Out of curiosity, has anyone in Metro Melb ordered off ShoppingExpress recently and how long did it take to get to you? Was it Auspost or courier? Planning on buying a ShieldTV Pro from an earlier deal and I don’t want to be waiting weeks.

    • I ordered from them around mid July and they delivered within 1 week through auspost. Melbourne metro and my product was in stock.
