Excellent VPN. Using it for Amazon Prime USA, Japan and India. Works flawless.

    • +1

What platform? I'm hit and miss with US.

Nice to see love for India - great Prime region (I am also a fan of Canada)

      • +1

I am using it on VodaTV

        • Weird - I'm on vodaTV. Time to give it another go

        • I have VodaTV as well and recently got NordVPN.. But Prime USA, India does not work for me on VodaTV (I get error 'Something went wrong' when I play any video when connected to VPN).. Are you connecting to any specfic servers?

          • @Trek: For India, I am not connecting to any specific server rather let Nord App (installed on VodaTV) choose the fastest server in India based on my location. My Amazon Prime Video app is sideloaded as it wasn't available from official Play store on VodaTV. My router DNS is set to Google DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and don't know whether that makes a difference or not. Watched Amazon Prime India last night and it worked like a charm. Maybe for a test, sign out of Amazon Prime Video app on your VodaTV, log into Indian server, then sign into Amazon Prime Video App and it might work.

@John K: Thanks, it didn't worked though.. But all good now, I just updated my sideloaded app to latest version and Prime USA, India, UK etc all started working perfectly fine with NordVPN :)

              • @Trek: Glad that the new version of sideloaded app worked, my one must be the newest version as well :) Enjoy

Here is the Netflix page before anyone asks if it works

    https://support.nordvpn.com/General-info/SmartPlay/104740753…

As an Android TV user (VodaTV) it's been great to see the continual addition of regions that work on that platform. Was US / UK and CA only last year.

  • Isn't the three year plan more attractive?

  • Though Miso has posted the link to Nord stating it works in the US, can anyone confirm if it does and how good it is? Also how is this with the BBC iplayer in the UK.

    • Works well. I'm on the HD plan and get up to 1080 pretty quickly.

I prefer Canada as a region though. Watching The Grinder atm. good show.

  • Using NordVPN, can I set Netflix on my phone to US content and cast to my Chromecast? Or will the Chromecast block it?

    • +1

      Chromecast reverts back to Australia.

      • Thanks!

  • I heard of people not being able to use Nord on NVIDIA Shield as they did not support this platform a while back. Is it working now? Anyone know what platforms they support? I am with surfshark at the moment and the compatibility has impressed me immensely, it even supports my Raspberry Pi.

Have the Shield TV 2019 (non pro) and can confirm Nord works fine

      • good to know, thanks mate!

  • I'm thinking about getting this as my wife wants to watch Netflix Japan on her laptop. If I want to watch Netflix at the same time on my tablet will it be Netflix Japan also?

    • +1

nope - turn on vpn on device, get that country's content on that device only.

  • How can one watch us netflix using this. Just turn vpn on and login into netflix app on tv or mobile?

  • My cyberghost vpn is going to expire. This or Surfshark ??

    • +1

I use surfshark and honestly i cannot complain for the $10/3 year price tag i paid. Cant fully test speeds because i am still on ADSL but i have heard surfshark isn't as fast as some others so maybe Nord would be faster? not sure.

      • +1

Thanks @88dozz…. Plus surfshark is unlimited devices and nord has 6 device limits. Regarding speed both should be better than Cyberghost I guess. thats what I read every where. will wait for new surfshak deal the. Thanks

        • Thats true surfshark is unlimited, i forgot that part. No complaints from me to be honest, would resubscribe.

    • Check out this review comparisons from Techlore on YouTube, being watching many vids on security/privacy atm, on many sites.
The Hated One on YouTube also has good info on being safe/avoiding trackers etc.

      VPN comparison; https://github.com/techlore-official/VPN-reviews/blob/master…
Or (Techlore) top 5 VPN's on YouTube; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEzbKNBVyZM

      He also reviewed NordVPN; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2YDwS0r6n0
      And Surfshark; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsCJMncycT8

Surfshark had a better score than NordVPN. Cyberghost had very low score.
NordVPN has good speeds which most people state & agree with.

      This might you decide.

I went with Surfshark in the recent deal, no issues, but I don't use any Netflix/streaming services.

I would like to play around with Windscribe sometime, has good amount of features.

  • I had surfshark and I am on 100 MBS plan. In my experience Nord provides you better speed. If I get a similar cash back scheme with surfshark, I would opt Nord.

    • +1

      Thanks … its 90% cashback, so worth a deal.89 USD = 124 AUD apprx. After 90% cash back it comes ~ 13 aud for(i.e 10%) for 2 years..

      • Hahaha thanks for putting in together ..I wanted to do it but I think lockdown made me lazy! For what it comes down to, I think it is a bargain price for a proven VPN.

      • I've tried using cashrewards using the chrome extension and through the cashrewards website but looks like the extension switches off when I go through the checkout. Do you think it'll still work? I have no idea what's going on.

  • I was with NordVPN for two years and I quit two months ago. Will I be considered a new customer and therefore eligible for 90%cashback?

    • +1

May be register a new email, that can be a solution to be on safer side.

  • NordVPN or EXPRESS VPN? Which one is better in terms of speed. I am on NBN 50.

    • +2

      Maybe check out Whirlpool; https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/search?q=NordVPN
NordVPN uses NordLynx, based on WireGuard, so better average speeds they claimed, seems many sites/reviews also agree with this.
So NordVPN should be the better choice, YMMV.
I think only a few other VPN's offer WireGuard atm, still seems in early stages protocol wise.

      • Thanks. Will check.

  • I've been using PIA for close on 10 years now. Got a recurring 2 year $56 USD deal which I'm happy with.

Speeds are usually pretty good. On 100Mbs plan and get around 85-90 Mbs on PIA, and when not running it would get up to 93Mbs.

PIA is also supporting wireguard. Wasn't the best a while back, but seems stbale these days.

I don't VPN netflix etc so can't say if it's any good for getting aroudn geoblocking.

  • I am on Getflix and I can input the DNS in my TV to their server and access US Netflix from the TV's app. Will this work the same way? Or is it just laptop /desktop only?

  • Cashrewards lists a code for 64% off the the 2 year deal = TOPDEAL

i would assume this is also valid for 90% cash back as its listed on CR website.

    • I would've thought so but it looks like it doesn't for me. My extension on chrome says cashrewards isn't active when I go to checkout.

  • Signed up using this deal. Cashback got tracked. Expected cashback $105. Paid $126.
