Joining Zoos Victoria gets you free access to Taronga anyway, doesn't it?

"Reciprocal free access to interstate zoos; Taronga Zoo, Perth Zoo, Adelaide Zoo, Western Plains Zoo, Monarto Zoo."

You can join any of the Zoo friends in any state. We're in NSW but joined the Perth one which costs $70 per adult in a family, or $80 for individuals.

They don't charge a joining fee at Perth either.

        • They do charge a hefty fee for children though ($46 each), so the Victoria option would be better for those with little ones.

        • Does your perth membership get you discounted parking @ Taronga? (The Sydney membership says $6 parking, whereas normal parking is $16)

          Thanks for the tip!

        • Sorry I'm not sure about the carpark though… I always go on a Sunday when it's family funday ($2.50 for transport :D). My little one is 1 yo so I'll keep the Victora zoo option in mind when she becomes a child.

  • I am glad to hear the cheapest option to get the annual zoo pass. But, how about the photo? I believed that new member's photograph needs to be taken at the joining zoo to issue the new membership card. So is it possible to take a picture @ Tanronga zoo to get perth's zoo membership? Thank you for your reply in advance.

    • I signed up in person, when I went to Perth on holidays. But there is an option for sending in your form to Perth by post… wonder if they let you send a photo with it? Please don't quote me on this - I was going to investigate the latter option in more depth then I ended up going to Perth on holidays anyway.

      • I just read the application form and there was nothing mentioned about the attachment of photo. I may call the zoo tomorrow. Thanks for the comment, Kati.

        • Cool - let us know how it turns out because I have been curious to see how a postal application would work considering there is a photo on the membership card. Esp. because the form says you can give a Perth zoo membership as a gift etc…. so what if you gave it as a gift to someone who wasn't nearby the zoo?

I've got a good news for zoo lovers. I've got the reply from the perth zoo. They said you just need to fill up and email the application form which can be downloaded in perth zoo website. When you email it, you also need to include a clear photo (face without sunglasses). Then they will cut and paste the photo onto the card and will be sent to you. But, you need to aware that the membership will run for a year from the date of actual purchase.

So we can save $40 dolllars for the zoo membership card. Isn't it great?

    • Fantastic! Good to hear :)
