Best Value Hackintosh under $100?

Hey gang. Looking for a decently priced system maybe like a refurbished business system like the dell optiplex, or any system really. Or maybe a laptop if it's cheaper that way (although my guess is a desktop is probably be better value).

I am wanting to install Mac OS on this thing so hopefully what you send through is compatable but it's okay if not, your help is still much appreciated :).

Looking to spend under $100 but would stretch as far as $150 though if worth it.

Thanks everyone!

    I think you're missing a zero there.

    • Maybe for a normal mac? I'm looking for cheap and cheerful here.

OptiHack? You'll need to find yourself a Dell Optiplex, 7020 or 9020 series.

Is there anything you really need to do in MacOS that a VM can't achieve on hardware that you already own?

    • Honestly … never thought of it. Was gonna use for garageband mostly, and probably a bit of imovie too. Can I still save garageband files if I am using a VM?

I was mainly looking for a separate system to have downstairs in my music room that I can record into and edit in there. I don't fancy taking my gaming pc down there every time I want to record so I thought something like a cheap optiplex with mac OS could be useful.

So do you want it to run OSX or not? :S

Anyhow, add another $100 and you'll get a real iMac, might be another option if you want something to work out of the box - but it won't be fast.

    • Lol I was contradicting myself there. I meant more like if someone wasnt sure about its compatability but knew of decently priced systems around.

What is this mac u speak of? Link would be appreciated just to have a browse. Thx :).

Gumtree, eBay, Cash Converters, etc all have cheap imacs but they are old.

  • You could rebuild a G3 with your budget by sourcing parts from e-waste centres, just watch out for those shipping costs.

  • EDIT: Woops.. I misread $100 for $1000.. nevermind me ;)
