Best seller because recently it was $304

    • Just received mine from the previous deal. Its a WD120EMFZ which appears to be a 14tb Red drive locked to 12tb. Stays cool and very quiet. Took a while to dispatch, but was shipped via DHL and arrived in about a week.

    • Yep, mentioned the price rise there. Via US price is down to $332.47, but this is still obviously cheaper.

  • Ordered 1 on Monday, still waiting for it to be dispatched. Be prepared to wait.

That’s standard. Once it’s dispatched, shipping is quick

Friendly tip: If you have a spare low capacity SSD and/or ram that you never really use, you can use it to speed up the drive and have a very large drive at basically SSD speeds. I'm using Primocache with my ex-boot drive 240gb Crucial SSD and 8GB of Ram with a WD 12TB from this deal and been pretty great. Primocache costs money past the 30 day trial, but there are free solutions like AMDs StoreMI, Intel's Rapid Storage Technology (?) and Windows Storage Spaces but I either didn't have the hardware or couldn't get them to work but YMMV.

If somebody else is after a ramdisk I can recommend Softperfect's Ramdisk.
Have been using their ramdisk for few years and it's still being updated regularly.

I think the company is local Brisbane based ? if you interested to support local.
Can't comment on the read/write speed as I haven't done any benchmark

    • interesting idea…with Primocache - can I do without the RAM (just a spare smaller SSD)??

      • yep

cool thanks, will check this out :)

  • What's the pro and cons of air and helium and is it true wd will be temporarily using air going forward due to cost or supply issues ?

    • Why don’t they just go to Costco and use nitrogen?

Ordered one on Aug 16, arrived today (Aug 27) from UK, via DHL.

    Impressive.

  • What HDD test should be done these days before the you start storing your Linux ISOs?, I just started a WD utility app test says it's going to take 98hrs to complete :s

    • Run a error scan surface test on the hard disk to search for any bad sectors using HD Tune pro before you store your Linux ISO's lol ;).

    • WD Datalife Diagnostic Tool? The full scan should take 20 hours. Something wrong if it is taking 5x's that.

  • Ordered from previous deal on the 18th, arrived today.
Was hoping it would come with an Aus adaptor, unfortunately just UK and EU.

    • Same, is there any way to get the AU plug from WD? Its listed in the piece of paper that comes with it….

      • Contact WD support, you'll need to register the device

  • Price down to $302.33, so slightly cheaper than the original $304 deal.. US price down to, but only to $326.95.

For those wanting an AU adapter, as per previous deals, register the drive, then put in a support request for an AU adapter and you should have one mailed out for free.

    • Didn't last long. Now $332.41, making US the cheaper option.
