Female gamer here and thought I'd try these from my normal choice. Over all headset is great. But dam no way to adjust it for size. find it slips down and rests on my ears, after a while this get very uncomfortable so constantly adjusting them. And very aware I am wearing them. But lesson learnt will stick with what I know fits :(. Will think on either a return as unsuitable for me, but will also think on a way to adjust them to fit better, perhaps pad them up a bit :) Sadly cannot recommend to wee headed folks!

This problem can be fixed with an elastic band pulling together the two head resting bits at the top. Works with my AD700x, I assume it should work for these.

      • this is a common fix but doesn't always work for everyone. I know someone who shares the same expereince as that reviewer and had to sell it.

Well my name's not Karen like that other reviewer, but I do own one of these and would rate them higher than what she gave. I have an average sized head and find these do feel like they are slipping down my head a bit but only after a couple of hours of intense gaming do I notice it. Probably time to take a quick break anyway, no? In any case I also used the rubber band tweak and haven't really had any issues ever since. Overall a decent gaming headset with excellent sound quality, good soundstage and clarity, particularly the mic. The price here represents good value I reckon, but as always YMMV.

Great headset, sound wise. Although I wish the cable was detachable. The TRRS connection is a bit short, and the long extension/splitter is a bit flimsy and you might need to put a rubber band over the wings to fit on your head (for me after 12 months of use it still doesn't feel secure, but they don't fall off even when nodding my head to keep time playing Rocksmith and they are not fatiguing to wear for a long period of time.)

It's been cheaper but still a bargain at this price.

Fulfillment from Amazon UK seems to be pretty slow ATM. I placed an order on Tuesday that still hasn't shipped (although I'm not convinced it wasn't a pricing error).

  • i own a pair, love them during video hook ups during covid, the openback makes them feel less restricted than my closed back ones ……

  • thanks op - re-joined prime and ordered - been waiting for this…..

  • once you go open back, you can't go back. Thanks, bought one to upgrade from the baby brother model. These rarely ever go on sale (and also hard to find)

  • How do you find the modmic OP? I was leaning that way but reviews are either great or trash.

    • +2

My honest opinion is the modmic is overrated and overpriced for what it is. Knowing what I know now I would probably not buy it again.

I got the modmic 4.0 and here are my complaints:

      • Mic volume was not audible (mic boost to 20+ was audible but introduced too much noise) with my MSI motherboard mic input jack, so instead I bought a USB amp/dac (Sound Blaster x3) which has a dedicated mic and headphone input, its better now but honestly still not that loud and I still have to use boost for it to be heard.

      • The mic does not have any flex at all, so you cant bend the mic to a suitable angle to your mouth (even a cheap $5 mic I bought from ebay could do this).

      • The cable is extremely long, and I had to coil it up to get it to fit the length of my HD6xx

      • The adhesive which sticks on the headphone does not appear to be removal, so means if I ever want to get rid of the modmic I am stuck with the little adhesive bit permanently on my hd6xx.

      • For the price they charge you they give very little clips (clip used to hold the modmic cable and headphone cable together), I ended up paying like $20 to buy a bunch more clips

Honestly I found the built in mic from my Corsair HS70 was superior to the modmic, but that uses usb not 3.5mm mic jack.

Too bad, if you in the market for a mic that integrates "neatly" with HD6xx or similar headphone, there doesnt seem to be any other options besides modmic.

I always dreamed about someone creating a "mic" cable for the HD6xx (since its got detachable cables) that has mic built onto the cable and at the end splits out to a mic and audio input jacks. Once that happens, I'll jump on it and ditch the modmic for good.

      • Thanks mate, really appreciate the detailed response. I pretty much had it in my cart ready to checkout after bingeing a dozen YT reviews vs the v-moda boompro, which really don't represent real world use. I only hesitated after realising I'd need to get a y-split cable, which then got me looking at a few more reviews on amazon. I guess it's still too niche, as most people would just get a gaming headset + mic, rather than a separate mic for their normal headphones.

        • In my experience, Y split cable works fine and isn't too wonky at all for a desktop set up. I can't remember but v-moda boom pro probably comes with one - even my generic copy of v-moda boom pro that I got from eBay came with one shrug

Got you fam. No idea about the whether that is a good price for it or not, but I think this is what you are looking for exactly.

I have something similar to this, instead which is a generic copy of it: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Boom-Microphone-Volume-Cable-for… (check carefully the 2.5mm vs 3.5mm versions). I think I bought it for ~$10 at the time. The quality is average imo but it's certainly useful

        • I wish the V-MODA was compatible with HD6xx, unfortunately can only get modmic for this.

          • @bruc3: ah I'm an idiot. I forgot what HD6xx actually looks like.

        • Thanks bro! Boompro is kinda too expensive in Oz tho, how do you rate your generic eBay ones, decent for the price?
