LOGITECH Harmony 900 $199

130

Only just discovered Ebays new group-buy store today. Looks like ebay stores can post there own group buy deals as this one is hosted by the logitech Store.

KEY FEATURES:

Wireless RF technology eliminates the need to aim your remote at your home-entertainment system, and you can even control devices you can’t see (from up to 30 metres away).

IR blaster system makes it easy to extend your reach and turn RF signals into IR commands your devices can understand. Just place the simple-to-install IR blaster and mini blasters near the equipment you want to control.

Full-colour touchscreen provides easy, one-touch access to activities and your favourite channels.

Rechargeable battery with base station means you won’t be looking for batteries when you want to be watching TV and the base gives you a place to put your remote when not in use – so you won’t be digging between the sofa cushions to find it.

  • Great find - I've been wanting this remote for quite a while but always baulked at the utterly ridiculous RRP ($599..)
I couldn't really care about the RF functions, but to have those damn coloured buttons that my old Harmony One doesn't have will be fantastic..

The 600, 650 and 700 all have the 4 coloured buttons too, and are around $40 - $50.

If you don't need RF, then take a look at those ; )

      • Cheers Kirt - I should have mentioned that the touch screen was also a must have! :)

        • Ah ok ; )

    • Be aware that one thing the One has over the 900 is the 900 doesn't do macros, so if that's something you'll have to do that manually with RF.

  • The RF would be great for me since I have a hard time geting line of sight on my devices with my harmony one.

  • Good price but im waiting for someone to release a universal remote that runs Android. That way when the wife hogs the TV I can stream something else off the remote :)

  • Taking away the convenience of having just 1 remote, hows the practicality of these? Are they easier to use than your normal remotes?

It really depends on your setup. The Harmony remotes (at least the more expensive ones) use "Activities" (e.g."Watch DVD") rather than having to switch between devices (there is a devices option - it's geared towards using Activities though). I wasn't expecting that when I first got a Harmony remote and it complete threw me - Now that I've been using one for years, I'm used to it and prefer it.
Be warned that Harmony remotes are a complete pain in the arse to setup. It's worth it once you get it setup and working the way you want it, but be prepared to spend a good few hours getting it to that stage. Since the config is via a PC application, it is at least reasonably easy to transfer it to a new device rather than having to start from scratch if you get a new remote..

I can't comment on this model particularly and I'm not an expert on these but I have the Harmony remote 300i…the el-cheapo model that only has IR and comes with no screen. I was able to program it within minutes through the myharmony website. It now controls my 2 year old LCD Panasonic TV, an old Astone media player and my 2003 Sony DVD player! Not sure if there is an improvement with the RF models but my only complaint is the slight lag when pushing a button multiple times, such as volume. With the exception of 1 button ("watch TV") you do have to click on the device button first which tells it what you're trying to control and that takes a bit of getting used to.

I got mine for $15 delivered through the Logitech Shop but I've seen my local Aldi stores that still have these and are being cleared out for the same price. Best $15 i've spent in a while and I'm happy I'm able to use my old DVD player again. I was ready to throw it out as the control got damaged years ago and I could never navigate through the menus without it. The Harmony 300i have been posted here before:

  • Can anyone tell me if I can remove the battery from this remote and what typre of battery it used? normal AA? Can I just change the battery instead of charge it in the base?

    • Uses a Lithium Ion battery.

I prefer "voice commanding" my TV via my gf. 199 saved.

    • One would think gf costs way more than $199.

  • Just waiting for Logitechshop to beat it.

    • The seller is logitech_australia, who I think is logitechshop anyway. I've been asking for this to be $199 for a while, so I guess I better buy it now.

    • Yes when you look at the bottom of the page the seller is actually logitech

  • $90 more for the 900 over the One.

  • If you do not need RF then buy the Harmony One and save some money

  • FYI this is FluidTek IT

You sent a payment of $199.00 AUD to Logitechshop [Fluidtek It Pty Ltd] ([email protected])

      Yes, not a secret.

  • alialoosh, google 'samsung galaxy tab 7 plus peel' . For some people the extra feature may soften the $400 price when it becomes available shortly.

  • Can this remote replace foxtel iqhd/iq2 remote and control foxtel??
