What is the regular price? If you are limited to this price range and store, isn't the 18V Ozito a better value? https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-drill-driver-kit_p…

    • DeWalt over Ozito. They aren't really in the same league

      • +1

        True, but 12V vs 18V and 2ah vs 3ah

        • Once you've tried 18V and brushless you'll never go back!

@gadget: 12v do have a place in the market though…

My biggest regret was buying a Dewalt 18v brushless drill + driver combo with a couple of 4ah batteries, as soon as I turned my back the bastards bred and a 18v brushless paddle switch 125mm angle grinder appeared, then it happened again and a 18v brushless chainsaw appeared, they just wont stop breeding !

(the angle grinder is a weapon, I use it a lot, it's great with a 60 tooth blade for cutting wood and aluminium, the chainsaw is a bit of a toy but it's adequate for what I bought it for)

        • True, but light vs heavy, compact vs bulky, brushless vs brushes, quality vs subpar, longevity vs runtime, power vs underperformer

If you know tools DeWalt wins this

    • This is an even cheaper option. Doesn’t necessarily make it better value though.

    • One would agree if it was brushless. 18v vs 12v

    • +1

A lot of people going for a 12V Dewalt would be after the small physical size… (also the quality and the fact that replacement batteries will be around forever basically, it's not a throw-away tool)

    • +1

If you're after power.. don't bother with 12v… unless you get the milwaukee… but that's like 3x this price

      12v generally isn't powerful enough

If you already got 18v … and want something smaller.. this is a great deal

  • This is insanely cheap for coming from dewalt. Also a nice test of water kit if you just want to have a drill and not bunch of tools you don’t want.

    • +1

Better to test the water with a battery system with decent range of other skins, just in case the water is nice.

      • yes, if this was 18V, it's a deal for sure!

        • It’s still a great deal, but with a smaller target audience.

Old post for the same deal, quite a bit of chat there about it:

  • Yeah this has been available for a long time, but I recently got it.
    Highly recommended.
It's great to use and the run time is very impressive for the batteries tiny size.

FWIW I have been using the AEG 12V drill and impact driver combo kit for the better part of 10 years. Best $199 I ever spent, and I think it still sells for the same price. I'm not saying I'm a chippy - just a few household jobs here and there - including building a large cubby and impact driving every timber screw in it.

  • How would one of these compare with the Ryobi 18v for jobs like working on the car etc.
I'm fresh in the market for some tools, have just been "borrowing" dads.
I'm also keen on getting a line trimmer, dewalt at Sydney Tools listed here looks quite reasonable: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/557288

    • If you're looking at an 18v Dewalt line trimmer it's probably better to go for an 18v Dewalt drill, share batteries and such… or look for a kit with an impact driver, I tend to use my driver more than my drill… but skins come up at good prices from time to time so it's not an issue to pick up new skins over time..

  • Helped with a new kitchen install recently, Cabinet maker probably had more Milwaukee tools than your local Sydney tools shop but the two most used tools were undoubtedly his 12v drill and driver.
