  • get in quick. they probably forgot to price jack.. futu already jacked it up to $1025

    • +1

Different use cases. This one is nicer for gaming (higher refresh rate, G-Sync and Freesync, faster response time) while the U2720Q is better suited to office work (inbuilt USB hub + USB-C charging, higher resolution but limited to 60Hz refresh rate).

    • There are far better priced 4K IPS monitors if that's what you're seeking.

Namely, the AOC U2790VQ. Catch has a listing, and there's student discounts and gift card discounts coming that will take it from $430 down to $330ish.

      • Ah okay, primary purpose is gaming so I'll take a look at the AOC one then, thank you!

        • I'd recommend higher refresh rates over 4k resolution for gaming. Helps with eye strain too.

There's a slew of monitors that can compete with the LG on their way, and some that are already here. The standout candidate is the Samsung G5 if you're not super concerned with colour consistency/viewing angle or the curve.

If you're doing a lot of image/video work though, I would stick with IPS unless you already have one.

There'll also be a lot of price pressure on the LG from miniLED HDR panels, 360 Hz panels and 1440p 240Hz panels, not to mention the 48" CX (and presumably BX) OLED TV from LG.

No way it holds this price point much longer.

Who else is still patiently waiting 60 more days for their Dell to arrive?

    • Cancelled my order already. Probably should have waited

      • I look forward to waiting two more months, get it, set it up and find one juicy screwed pixel in the middle of the screen.

        • what the……. so did you return the screen or waiting until the replacement arrive?

          • @HD9990: I mean I’m waiting for it to arrive, but knowing my luck it will have problems.

  • +2

Would have smashed this if I weren't waiting for the Dell S2721DGF

  • What would you guys recommend in a 27" monitor for gaming?

It's been ages since I have looked at monitors. Would appreciate any recommendations or specs I want to look out for.

    Budget wise.. 500ish

    Cheers 😊

If you are on a tight budget, this Viewsonic one @ Wireless1 comes down to $445.50 with DAD10 coupon code and is both a 2k res/QHD and 144hz display, which in my opinion is ideally what you want when it comes to PC gaming.

My brother-in-law bought two of these recently and he thinks they're great.

      • Looks like a good deal and recommendation. Many thanks for that 😊👍

If I'm understanding correctly.. I'm looking for the following specs

        • 1ms
        • 144Hz
        • 2K res (minumum)
        • IPS (ideally)
        • +2

Yeah a monitor with all that is exactly the thing to look for. Typically if you're on a budget you'd have to compromise and go for one thats 2k but only 60hz, or one thats 144hz but only 1080p, but with the ViewSonic you're getting best of both worlds at a price that's waaaay cheaper than the bigger brands.

I think the ViewSonics usually fall behind in terms of the on-screen display, quality of build materials and the type of stand (usually not very adjustable), but those are pretty easy to look past when the quality of the actual display doesn't seem all that different.

          • @matictac: Brilliant.. thank you for confirming :)

    • What about the 34" Xiaomi curved coming up in the sales

      • +1

Darker transitions will have poor response times, leading to very noticeable smearing in dim and high contrast scenes.

Next gen VA panels are much better, but there's only two models right now, and they're not cheap at present.

Don't get the Xiaomi for gaming.

      • Too big for my needs

    • +1 for the ViewSonic VX2758-2KP-MHD

      1440p 144Hz IPS panel 1ms.

      Great review all around https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukKev6cPZhY
Pretty much the best value gaming monitor at that spec by some margin (other than the price error Dell deal)

      • Will check it out.. thank for the feedback and recommendation :)

  • No longer worth it at this price.

  • Price got jacked up as I was about to check out

    • +1

Same i was about to checkout and price jacked

      • Feels bad.

        • +1

Man everything is so jacked nothing is worth buying at all. Headphones I wanted was jacked, now this monitor is jacked. eBay seriously need to block sellers from jacking during sale.

          • @Letrico: Lock the prices as soon as these promos start

            • @Magicmannn: eBay work with the sellers prior to these deals going live, so… won't make a difference honestly.

              • @Slut: And watch as people get the good prices get their orders cancelled ;(

  • they just pricejacked to $1025

  • happy birthday not buyers
