    • Hm.

      • it is Chinese, very "stupid" patriotic statement (no offence), basically saying: you can hate Huawei, nor using Huawei products/services, but when you stop by a Huawei store please kneel down on your knees with a head bow (the one that knocks/touches the ground like worshipping), that's an expression of your patriotism for being a Chinese.

        • +7

No mentally normal Chinese will do that. It's just a stupid eye-catching slogan created and spread by some extremists or intentional persons. I feel uncomfortable about it, especially on OzB.

    • -8

      請問這是習維尼說的嗎

    • -5

      nobody can see this ironic?

      • Can you translate "any bargains"?

    • +1

Hahahaha wtf this is so random.

    • I completely disagree.

    • -8

This is ironic mates. I didnt mean that actully. You know there are lots of frenetic fans of Huawei in China. They think Huawei products are absolutely the best ones, you cannot say disadvantages of Huawei. So people who don’t like this phenomenon using this ironic slogan to show their unpleasant. Come on -23 now!

  • +6

    Great phone!

    • +2

Agree…I bought this in January…Love it. Great camera

  • Will they have the Aurora color?

  • +1

Nvm just checked it is Australia version.
Good price and might pull the trigger.

    • +7

      might pull the trigger

Don't do it, arctan you have so much to live for…

  • Is this still a good price for the phone? This or s20? Really considering but a bit concern of huawei future updates.

    • There are reasons why the P30 Pro is holding its price when it's main competitors prices have dropped - just a supurb phone (mine is ~2 years old and is still perfect, can't say that for my S8+ that went slow after 12 months and couldn't use it in the Samsung VR anymore :( )

  • Wish it had more than 60 hz

    • +6

extreme must? knowing most of your household items are basically Made In China? - a person using garbage would be … a garbage themselve

      • -2

knowing most of your household items are basically Made In China?

Guess what? You can avoid buying a Huawei phone and live just fine
You can't avoid 99% of other essentials like AC, which contains electronics and plastics made in China, medical equipment made in China, drug manufacturing made in China.

a person using garbage would be … a garbage themselve

Speak for yourself. You calling most of Australia garbage when they have no other alternative is the most entitled shit i've ever seen.

        • +7

it only applies to those who think they are privileged enough to call all Chinese stuff garbage, so, it is not toward ALL Aussies

        • +1

There are alternatives. No one wants to pay for them though.

        • +9

no one bullies you here, you just bark out rubbish and offensive comments based on racism and discrimination like hate speeches. no one enforces you to buy anything from CCP if you don't like them, but ain't everything is garbage as most Aussies wether they are white or black or whatever colour are still using products and services that Made in China.

        • +3

Bring us some solid evidence supporting your comment.

        • +13

Kindly keep your political opinions to yourself. Fyi there has been no evidence of Huawei equipment used by the CCP for spying. It is still conjecture. Ironically I don't see you condemming the US CIA and NSA for installing backdoors on cisco equipment or conducting illegal secret mass surveillance. Oh let's not forget the numerous counts of political interference the US has been conducting for decades.

So Get off your high horse. Corruption is everywhere more or less.

          • -3

@H-SnypeR: Kindly keep your political opinions to yourself.

And then share your political opinions hmmmm. Typical CCP logic.

            • +1

@VestMogen: LELLLLLLLL, you literally quoted him "Kindly keep your political opinions to yourself."
then went on asking him to share his political opinions.
then applied your logic to CCP, you are gold.

        • a regime that interfers with our political system by bribing politicians

If this were true, I'd blame the politicians taking the bribes for being unfaithful to their nation in favour of a cash grab, not the chinese for offering it.

  • +4

Great phone ever, love my Huawei P30 PRO.

    • Is it running latest andriod version? And how's security updates? I personally never had Huawei phone.

      • +5

        Running Android 10.
Security updates are fine, currently on the August release so reasonably timely they are.

        • I concur, regular updates are received, the camera and it's features continue to impress me

    • Mate 20 p user disagrees with you 😂

    • Hmmm… sure it is great phone ever

  • Would you guys trust Sydney Mobiles? They have good reviews but something is telling that they're bad idk.

    • Are they part of mobilciti?

    • Pretty sure I bought my p30 pro from these mob. Got them delivered next business day.
      Very impressed.

  • +6

Was the best buy end of last year $921 + 60 cashback from shop back.
    Still enjoying it. Loves

    • Seem now is the good time to resell =))

  • +9

Boy, this phone has held its value like a Swiss bank.

    • -6

i'd say more like a chinese tank

  • so want to get this as well but not ebay plus member. is it worth seeing what Pixel 5 has to offer?

    • Im going to be waiting it out for the Pixel 5 to see how much it costs and whether its value for money. If not, I'll end up buying one of last years phones with a SD855 or 855+ which should go down further in price by then. We're literally talking 4 weeks away from the Pixel 5 announcement anyway so if you can hold out for that long, why not?

      • Good point. Damn this deal is so tempting. Reading the rumours on pixel 5, sounds exciting. Just hope pricing is good too.

  • Waiting for a deal on the Pixel 4XL (fingers crossed)

    • Google has discontinued the Pixel 4 and 4XL, so if there's any stock left in any shops, thats it. See if you can find one and ask them to give you a solid price on one. I wouldnt be holding my breathe on a deal for those devices at the moment.

    • +7

      No

    • +5

do you know almost all phones and parts of those phones are … made in China? even the Samsung phones now mainly made in Vietnam are using lot of parts made in China. I love all Aussie Made products and services too, but it is not possible.

    • Seeing the number of negative votes you've got, I think that George Orwell was probably right after all.

      • …For the great bulk of mankind, they would choose happiness over freedom…

      • “Man serves the interests of no creature except himself.”

    • +2

I don't give a damn about that relationship. If China makes a good product, I'll buy it. Every business product is made is China. I guess you stopped buying from all Australian retailers.

    • Wow, surprised with the amount of neg I got. I understand a lot of phone parts are made in China, but when I said I would stop buying Chinese phone I really meant the Chinese brands (Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo…). I loved their quality, affordability… but I'd do Samsung or Apple instead. Look what they did to our tourism and education industry when advising their citizen/students to stop coming to Australia, look at what they did to our Australian beef, wine, agricultural industry, just because Scotmo asked for an investigation.

That's my choice, I understand people have different views different opinions, I never asked anyone to do like I do.

  • +1

Considering they is no news of new Android security updates for these devices and a plethora of apps blocked from Huawei devices, aren't you guys worried about that?

    • +8

      Not for a P30 pro

      • Any idea on how long the P30 Pro is getting supported for regardless of the whole US vs. Huawei thing happening?

I'm trying to find a good dual sim phone to replace the A71 I've given to my dad.
Leaning towards the Oneplus Nord ($600-ish) or this one.

    • +4

I only worried about the influence of Fanatics in OZbargain

  • No more Huawei phone esp you can’t find a place to repair a damaged screen

    • -1

I've never damaged the screen on any of my phones. People should be more careful. I'm sure this comment will hurt some feelings.

    • Probably don't buy because direct-replacement warranty might be an issue in the future. Company might give you alternative brand or refurb and not a brand new one.

      Huawei to stop manufacturing

  • -3

Just can't wait to use the new almighty, non-spying and clean Harmony OS and ditch the evil, spying Google OS from the bullying Americans.

    It looks very promising…

    https://consumer.huawei.com/en/press/media-coverage/2019/hua…

    • +2

Uh… Chinese and non-spying are not two words that associate together sorry lmfao

    • It looks very promising in 2019 and they now say it won't be available before 2021…lol

    • +1

lol HarmonyOS was dead even before it took off - the lead developer confirmed he wasn't aware how challenging it was.
This is why the CCP is trying to make phones with IOS and ditch Android

  • ..the choice for mankind lay between freedom and happiness, and that, for the great bulk of mankind, happiness was better.

This is a bargain too good to miss.
Who cares about other stuffs like freedom or intellectual property?

    • Not me.

      • +1

We are truly living in a George Orwellian world.

        • +2

you just found out about his name and using him in every comment haha, the hells a george orwellian world

  • Dang I just bought the mate 20 pro for $600. Should I return that and buy this?

  • +1

This phone is dead, even Huawei confirmed

    • +2

Great, throw it in the bin with all the other Chinese communist party spyware phones

    • -1

Is Huawei going to produce this phone after the order is placed?

  • +6

Wow, there are some crazy people here coming back every hour to post more anti-china comments haha. I'm just here looking for bargains.

    • -1

Huawei posts should be banned, they are pulling out of Australia..
They said they can't even afford to sponser the Raiders anymore.

      • But some people may sell their moms just for a small bargain…

    • +7

Ozbargain is flooded by the political comments against China. Interestingly,
      * I haven’t found one single negative comment about the phone itself.
      * I found many positive feedbacks from users.

Is it a good phone to buy? Probably yes if looking at the phone itself. But many say no because it COULD be used as CCP spyware.
Any hard proof that a Huawei mobile phone was used by CCP for spying? Or their 5G infrastructure? Probably not. If there is any, I’m sure it will be on headlines and utilised by politicians against Huawei products and technology.

To those who post unrelated comments about the product, we need a clean forum with genuine posts and reviews of products. Not a forum to spread hates and conspiracy theories!

      • The p30 is a great phone, no regrets. Not sure about the spying, but one thing you shouldn't ignore, is that the ccp loves control over people and will go great lengths to achieve it. Laws in China are not like the western.

        • +1

No worries, the CIA and associates are controlling the CCP.

      • +2

        Strongly agree.

      • +4

Cause none of them have ever been to China, nor knowing anything about China other than the word 'CCP'
You'll only get a 'political right' answer for that kind of question.

As for the phone itself, my wife's been using it for more than a year now, camera smashed my iPhone Xs in every aspect especially in the dark.
No complains on apps or google services, Huawei app gallery is well populated now. She can still install Google services, she's very much not a tech person and she did it all by herself.
I would occasionally use her phone for video calls or taking photos of our baby girl when she's sleeping. like I said, it really shines in dark room like this.
The phone works better with Huawei devices, especially Matebooks, the tap and share feature is very handy, it does wireless screen projection on your laptop, you can literally drag and drop files from one to another.
Everything is still very smooth after a year load of apps installed and battery lasts almost 2 days for her.

As for the so-called 'spying', I would just uninstall Google services if I'm worried, plus we ditched Facebook ages ago. So we are good.

        • Yes, why use Facebook, WhatsApp or Google when you can use WeChat, Weibo and Baidu (I trust the CCP will NEVER spy). But, for reason I don't know, when I use WeChat to tell my friend I spent $89.64 at Coles, the number 89.64 just disappear. And I whenever I talked about Winnie the Pooh on WeChat, it disppeared too. How funny.

        • P30 pro was released before the saga began, so GMS can be installed without any problem. It's the p40 pro etc that are blocked.

      • -2

I haven’t found one single negative comment about the phone itself.

What? is the fact that Huawei is no longer licensed to produce Android phones not enough to suggest you would end up with a very expensive camera? ROFL

        • +3

          This is not fact based.
The ban does not prevent Huawei to produce Android Phones, with only Google services being banned.
The ban has no impact on P30 series, including P30 Pro.
          Reference: https://www.pocket-lint.com/phones/news/huawei/148102-what-d…

I do understand the concern of losing future updates, but there's been no evidence yet.
What I read from all the posts was, there is no single comment on the bad experience they had with the phone itself. Sure, after filtering all the unrelated comments.

          • @Freeskater: It's not just losing updates, Huawei is likely looking at Move To IOS app when GooglePlay becomes inaccessible.

            https://www.macworld.co.uk/news/iphone/huawei-move-ios-37938…

As such, $800 is much to ask for a phone brand that's sinking, forget the 'bad experience' of the device itself, the future is bleak.

            • +3

@frostman: Are you talking about the brand or the P30 Pro phone itself?
I don't think there is any evidence suggesting P30 series will be affected by any of the US ban. This has been confirmed by many users, Huawei and Google as well.

The brand is a seperate question.
It's been difficult time for Huawei under multiple attacks from many countries, most of which were lobbied and forced by the US, afraid Huawei is taking a leadership role in 5G.
Personally I don't think the brand is sinking given its 1st or 2nd smart phone world market share, not to mention its heavy investment in researching and developing new technologies, and its ability to deliver services much cheaper than its rivals.

Again, buying a phone does not mean investing in the company, and needs to be considered seperately.

        • What? is the fact that…

Dude, which world did you come from to present such a twisted fact?

  • +2

Great phone, paid less when it's released last year.

    • I can't believe it's still so expensive

  • Does it have the standard Huawei 2 years warranty? Thanks

    • Yes

  • Appears to be price jacked now $971
