For those without an Epic coupon, the Ultimate Edition on Steam (includes DLCs) might be a better purchase for an extra $10 .

On steam that edition costs A$ 47.96 promotion of -20% off A$ 59.95. Offer ends 9 September

$40.77 on GMG for the Ultimate Edition is the better deal, I'd say (if you haven't used the voucher yet).

  • Is it any good?

    • +2

Yep, great game IMO. Visuals are extremely good, not buggy at all (for me at least), atmosphere is amazing and the gameplay is pretty fun.

The storytelling can be a bit hit or miss for some people and a lot of the lore (which is really good) relies on you picking things up in the environment and reading them, which might not be for everyone.

      • Thanks for the buyer's guide. Still on the fence, if I will have any time to play…

I bought the Steam Ultimate Edition through Humble with my Monthly Discount and started playing it straight away, haven't been able to stop. I'm 17 hours in and just finished the main story and onto the side quests, highly recommend it.

@Kybakz: I think I won't spoil it for me. Get the new gpus and play it at a decent frame rate. :)

      • cheers man, just watched a gameplay vid after reading your post seems it fits my vibe!

        • I would have said it's one of my favourite games now and I'm keen to see the next DLC. The story and characters are definitely well done with an eerie yet interesting atmosphere. I got the first expansion and loved it.

I found it dull and uninspired but it has a good rating overall from people.

I haven't used the voucher yet but Epic is my free store, not giving tencent money.

tried it and just couldn't get into it. How did this won GOTY from IGN?

    • I haven't played it yet but apparently it's just a type of game with lots of lore in it, so you need to read a lot in order to fully appreciate it. I did play Alan wake a long time ago and it was the same (also made by the same studio). I was just reading an article last night that this game doesn't really explain everything to you, it doesn't have 'secrets' (which implied they will be discovered and then will be fully intend and understood) but rather 'mysteries' (which are always very closed to be solved, but at the same time remain out of your grasp). Those things might be interesting for some people, but i will have to play it (looking forward to it) to give you a more honest opinion.

Edit: here is the article. Only read the first part, right before they warn you about spoilers https://www.kotaku.com.au/2020/09/mysteries-are-the-heart-of…

    • ditto this. was about to comment the same thing - just couldn't get into it.

Is this game even worth buying? I only know people buying this to show off Ray Tracing on PC.

I wonder if my GT1030 will cut it….

  • I'd buy this at this price if the DLC wasn't so expensive
