Ordered mine on the 28th of August. Looking at the tracking number, it arrived in Sydney today 3rd of September. Hopefully it will be delivered tomorrow in time for the weekend.
    Quite quick

    • Most likely on Monday.

      • Just got delivered to my house this morning (Friday 4th of Sep)
        Yay.
        It comes with international adaptor

  • i ordered one, i hope it comes without issue and delay.
    Fingers crossed.

  • Dammit. Brought the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 a few weeks back. This deal is so much sweeter. Great find OP

Was also shipped and arrive in 6 days. Sent with free shipping (they used DPEX). Very quick

    • +1

i selected to use their free shipping.
somehow i think the priority shipping will have about the same delivery speed. not worth the 25$.
i spent 6$ on the insurance though =\

      • I don't see the point of insurance if you use paypal. Pretty much covered by paypal if it doesn't arrive or arrives damaged

  • I've ordered on Aug 29 in the evening. Paid Priority shipping. They say its still in processing, its now 3rd Sept no movement. FAQ says 72 hours to ship is that normal for Tobydeals??

    • try emailing them and let us know what happens

      • Reply to the email, No stock will be getting stock on the 8th September. That was the update.

  • +1

Damn it.. Just bought this phone for the wife a couple of weeks ago before discount.
The phone is huge. My daily driver is a Samsung note 8 and it feels quite diminutive in comparison. Very smooth interface, bright screen and decent cameras. The sound is lack luster, not quite loud as flagship Samsung's from recent years. Massive 15 watt 'turbo' charging brick and AU power adapter included. No issues with Toby's deals, delivery was about 8 days to regional Victoria so can't complain about that.
For the price, this thing is a steal.

  • Worth upgrading from the lg v30? Still going good but battery and lack of software upgrade for v30 atm.

  • Ah rats, I just pulled the trigger on this last week through Banggood: https://www.banggood.com/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-9-Pro-Global-Vers…

The only thing that worries me is that they list the phone as lacking Band 28. The listing says:
    4G: FDD-LTE B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B20
    TDD-LTE B38/B40

However both the official site https://www.mi.com/global/redmi-note-9-pro/specs/ and GSMArena list the phone as having band 28. I can't find the variant of the global version lacking band 28. How many different variants of the "Global Version" of this phone are there? I see an Indian version on GSMArena, but it has less RAM (4 vs 6GB) and a lower res main camera.

    • +1

The banggood specification is incorrect, you can generally trust the spec sheet on mi.com.

    • +1

      Global version does have Band28
These sites don't bother updating their spec sheets

  • Does anyone know how this phone's camera is in comparison with Samsung S8, and if this phone has wireless charging?

    • no wireless charging.

Thank You OP very good deal!

Specs and price look pretty on point! It's only the weight, at 209 grams, that's not so great. My current phone (xiaomi Mi 9T) is 191 grams, and I wouldn't want any heavier for a device I'm carrying around in a pocket all day; comparison: https://m.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=9738&idPhone2=1…
That is most likely mostly because of the bigger battery, at 5020 mAh. Can't believe I'm saying this, but after years and years of phones having batteries that were too small to last all day, maybe this battery is too large? (lasts longer than one day, yet adds extra weight). 4000 mah, with a modern chipset and version of Android, seems to last all day no problems, at least for my usage, so I wonder if that's the sweet spot for battery capacity versus weight.

    • I'm old enough to remember when we only charged our mobiles every 3 or 4 days.
Regardless of the changes to usage, screen size, functionality etc., more is always better.

And is the18grams difference in weight between this and your current phone really such a deal breaker?

If your pocket can handle your current phone plus two X $1 coins then it'll be rugged enough for this phone, (without the coins) :)

  • brought one of these couple of weeks ago and had to return it. annoying wifi issue with no fix. was a bummer, its a brick with a massive battery and decent camera and so cheap, really disappointing to have to return it.

    • Where did you bring the brick to?

      • wdym?

    • What was the Wifi issue?

      • loses connectivity a few minutes after the screen is locked. when unlock and woken up again, the wifi status shows as connected, but there is no data traffic on the connection and you have to turn wifi off then on again. gets annoying after a while…

    • Apparently they fixed that WiFi issue in latest miui ROM.
With Xiaomi handsets I normally use custom roms

      • what custom rom do you recommend for Xiaomi handsets? might have to buy another one if they have a fix for this issue.

Not all teams support all devices but Pixel Experience Plus/Ion/RR/Corvus and Havoc are my top picks

          • +1

@dingdong3000: I'll add a couple of my picks to the list.

Lineage: for a cleaner, leaner, Android experience.

Xiaomi.eu: for a debloated miui experience, small tweaks and wide userbase.

Xiaomi.eu is a good choice if wanting to retain miui features like dual apps, (a biggie for Pogo players).

  • Curious how this will stack up against the incoming pocophone x3

  • Tecobuy is also selling the same for $324 less $8 for new customer. Promo code TOBY10 or CART3 is no longer working for Tobydeals. Is it better to buy it from Tecobuy or Tobydeals? Thanks for the advise.

    • Tecobuy charge shipping fees on top of $324. Check that too. Apart from that they are all pretty much the same

    • +1

They are actually both the same store, Tecobuy will charge $15 shipping IIRC.

    • The promo codes still apply to the white and green colours. Right now, they are the cheapest at $323 delivered (using TOBY10).

      • Thanks everyone for your advise.

  • I am about to pull the pin on purchasing the mobile. Tobydeals have free shipping but also have the insured shipping option which is another $7. Did you avail of this option?

    • I wouldn't bother with insured shipping. Any issues raise a Paypal dispute but expect a month delivery when dispatched.

      • Yes, I forgot about Paypal. Thanks!

  • I ordered on 4/9/20.

I just received this mail today, did anyone get anything similar?

    Dear Customer,

    Thank you for your message.

I am very sorry to inform you that there has been a delay in the processing of your order.
We would like to offer our sincere apologies for this.

We are working hard to ensure we can ship out your order as soon as possible.
Our expectations are that we can achieve this within the next few working days.
We hope this delay won't affect any plans you might have made.

Please do let us know if you require further support.

They are expecting stock 8th Sept., so hopefully most orders get sent out this week.

    • +1

I ordered on the 3rd of September and haven't seen an e-mail like that - decided to order one for my wife as well yesterday so hopefully they're not already sold out of the next shipment or anything.

      • +1

I got this email because I inquired if there was enough stock available.

        • +1

What do you guys think of the xiaomi poco x3 deal, should we cancel this one?

This one will ship earlier though I reckon.

But has 60hz screen vs the 120hz

          • +1

@MagicTsukai: cancel and get the x3

            • @Archdon: i cancelled by emailing them and then doing a paypal dispute " didnt' receive items " topic.

I have to wait for tobydeals to officially cancelling the item.

In the meantime, i just bought the x3 it looks so good.
120hz refresh, better processing, battery, cooling etc.

Phone Dispatched today with tracking, it's in Hong Kong chilling with its Ozbargain homies. Let's see if priority shipping was worth it.

  • +1

I ordered the Redmi Note 9 Pro 6Gb/128Gb on the evening of the 3/9/2020 and the status is still 'Processing' so I emailed Toby Deals about stock and they replied stating that they are waiting for more stock to fulfill my order and the stock is due on the 17/9/2020. So another week before it will be shipped.

    • Is this normal for Toby Deals? I"m similar - ordered mine on 5/9 (was listed as 'in stock'), order remained in 'processing' state. Emailed them and they gave me the same stock due date of 17/9/2020.

Yet the whole time (including right now) its still listed as being 'in stock'

Is there a Toby Deals rep on here?

      • +1

Bad luck guys, good thing I cancelled and bought the poco from aliexpress. They already shipped it in 2 days after I ordered

      • +1

I have ordered from them thrice and this happened twice. So, I would say yes. My latest purchase was on 30th August. The stock came on the 8th and I have just received the phone (on the 11th). All in all, superfast delivery but only when they have it in stock.

They have a rep- Sophia. But she just posts deals and hardly ever replies to customers here.

        • +1

Thanks for the feedback. I'm fortunate in that I've still got a working phone so I can wait, but their 'in stock' is obviously to be taken with a grain of salt

        • wow, once its shipped it takes 3 days for it to come to your house.
That sounds super fast considering its from hong kong?

Ordered on 8th and got it today morning in NSW. Great delivery speed!

    • hows the phone so far?

      • Pretty good so far, no issues. Build quality is great. Still setting it up though with all the apps n settings.

        • have you seen much ads? and is the photo/video quality decent? what phone were you using before in comparison?

          • @MagicTsukai: havent noticed any ads so far. pictures are good, havent tested videos. i have a honor 10 and an old lenovo phone.

    • +1

Was that the Interstellar Grey 6Gb/128Gb one or the White or Green one?
If it is the Interstellar Grey 6Gb one, then it would be pretty poor of Toby Deals to be fulfilling orders from the 8th when there are still pending orders from the 3rd.

      • Yeah agreed, I mean happy for sunnyb but still…

      • Exactly this, mine is also still in processing since 3rd.

        • Same here, ordered a grey on the 3rd. Ordered a green for the wife on the 9th and that's still showing processing too.

          • @McFodder: My grey one ordered on the 3rd of September updated to 'Packing' yesterday!

      • i ordered the tropical green 6gb/128gb

  • Yea, mine ordered on the 3rd. Still processing. Have emailed twice and have received 1 generic response. I see they are still selling the phone I ordered - even though they obviously have no stock. 1st and last time I use TobyDeals :(

  • +1

Got it today 14th September ordered 29th August. It beat Kogan shipping. Priority shipping is worth it. Shipped with Dpex and tracking supplied. Dropped off at my door.

Just to let you know space grey is a bit more blue than expected but actually kind of happy about it.

I'm gonna say Toby deals actually had better communication than Gearbest and Banggood but I'd recommend priority shipping.

I live in Victoria it got stuck in NSW for a few days.

    • Cool, and you should get the MIUI 12 update any day I think.

Out of interest, can you see anywhere on the box a build date of any kind? Mind sharing it if you do?

      • There is something that looks like it could be a build date on the side of the box. It lines up with when I bought mine.

Care to share why you'd like to know?

        • There were isolated reports of some Note 9 Pros having issues with dust ingress into the camera module. Apparently Xiaomi acknowledged and fixed this issue with later batches. So I'm thinking for those of us that are waiting for ours to be shipped, maybe that's a slight 'silver lining' of sorts- that we might get a later build date with the issue resolved.

          Edit: here's one example https://tech.hindustantimes.com/mobile/news/redmi-note-9-red…
I'm obviously not too concerned about it myself since I ordered one anyway

          • @mr626: Suspected that's where you were coming from.

Personally I have 2020.05 and no dust issues so don't think it's as straight forward as early batches Vs later batches.

Maybe a specific month? Who knows.

I've also read, (but not confirmed), that some Xiaomi devices are manufactured in Malaysia. Something to do with this being a requirement to be able sell in their local market.

            • @sir_bazz: Pleased to hear- would suck to get stuck with that issue. Maybe it was more of a localised issue to batches sold in India?

      • Looks like 08.2020 … fresh meat haha

  • +1

Same here, ordered on 4th of September and got no respond till several emails finally a generic reply told me that have to wait till 17 for stock then if lucky, they will go ahead with processing my order, what a joke. Told them don't bother and ask for refund. Gonna go for poco x3.

    • Actually, after doing some more reading and comparing camera samples, I've decided to cancel my order and go for the Poco X3 as well. Poco seems to have better specs in every area anyway (other than not having dedicated SD slot, so you'll lose the second Sim slot on the Poco if you use an SD card).

      • I was thinking of doing the same but had already ordered some cases for the Redmi note pro. So decided to stick with it.

      • Best decision ever. Just got the refund from toby, and last night ordered my poco x3 for $278 amazing deal.

        • Did you cancel via email?

          • @bcstyle: Yes, surprisingly the refund process was really fast.

            • @Cypro: Ye thats why i asked as they took like 4 days just to reply to my email, thanks.

          • @bcstyle: I cancelled via a paypal dispute (not received item) and sent them a support email with the details (order ID, paypal case number).

I haven't heard back from them since, but in TodyDeals the status of the order went from processing to PayPal Reversed almost instantly

            • @mr626: How long does refund take from paypal dispute? Never done a dispute before.

              • @bcstyle: It's been a while since I've done a disupte. I think it partially depends on how quick the other party is to respond - ie, you as the buyer initiate the dispute, then the other party has (I assume) x number of days to respond etc.

I got a confirmation of refund email from TobyDeals early tonight, and in that they state that the funds will be returned to my paypal account in 3-5 days

        • Where did you get a Poco X3 for $278?
Just cancelled my Note 9 Pro order with TobyDeals

          • @jackdaw: I was right in the first batch of early bird group price. Now has up to $318 and after that will be $346.

          • @jackdaw: I ordered at Banggood.

  • I ordered the 6gb/64gb version on the 9th and received it on the 14th. That's just 3 business days which is absolutely amazing. Nice phone too, very good value.

    • Wow so fast. Did you pay for expedited delivery? I ordered from same place on 7th September with deliver to Vic but it is still just saying "processing" and does not.look like it has shipped yet.

      • Always pay for insurance and expedited delivery. In this crazy time. I figure how are you supposed to ask for information that the person doing the replies can't track down easily or have access to.

They only know stock, if it's been shipped or delivered. Anything in between is third party.

If there's tracking/insurance/courier , they are covered especially from China at the moment. Nothing seems like it is getting out via regular China post at the moment on a consistent basis, as least not like before.

      • +2

        Looking at my tracking history
        Day 0 - purchase made
Day 1 - in transit from Hong Kong
        Day 2 - arrive Sydney
Day 3 - delivered in Melbourne
Delivery fee was $0 so I assume it was just normal delivery.

Based on this experience, I'd happily order from Toby again. The only downside was that my bank charged me a foreign transaction fee on a AUD purchase.

        • @capslock: Yes, that's annoying isn't it? Surely if the transaction is in local currency then there shouldn't be any foreign transaction fee.

  • I happy for those of you that have had good experiences with TobyDeals, but I'll never be using them again.

Like a few people on here, my Note 9 Pro order was delayed by almost two weeks (they claimed it was because of lack of stock, yet the whole time the item page listed it as being in stock, and other people who ordered after me apparently have their phone already).

I decided to cancel the order by creating a paypal dispute. I clearly communicated this to the TobyDeals support email, including the order number and the paypal reference number.

Despite the annoyance with my Note 9 Pro order, I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and order a Poco X3 from them. Paid by paypal again, completely new, separate order with a different order number, ordered 15 days after my Note 9 Pro order.

Just logged in and double checked my orders, and they've cancelled BOTH orders.

All I can say is, I'm glad I still have a working phone and am not desperate for a new one.

  • Looks like I'm going to need to put a refund request in for this as well, Order still processing and no response to emails :(

    • I was in similar situation but they did respond. They apologised and said they expect to send sometime this week. I ordered on the 7th.

As someone else mentioned I think they may be holding off for the new batch where the camera issue has been fixed. At least that is what I am hoping for.

  • My order for a Interstellar Grey Redmi Note 9 Pro 6Gb/128Gb from the evening of the 3/9 finally shipped today. Hopefully the shipping from Hong Kong is as quick as what others have been experiencing.

    • Just as an update, my phone arrived today. I selected the free shipping option so shipping from Toby Deals is extremely quick when they have stock. The only issue with Toby Deals is that they don't seem to update their website in regards to whether they really do have stock.

      • Grrrrr- after a another attempt to contact them they cancelled my order again saying the stock they received was damaged and not to re-order in the next 72 hours whilst they fixed the site. Pretty upset as ordered 2 cases for this phone on another site so out of pocket $25 on top of all the time wasted.

On the plus side I guess I can get the Poco X3 instead for similar price but better specs.

        • Yep, my wife's phone (ordered later than mine, and in green) had it's order cancelled and refund has just been processed. Still waiting on mine to be delivered, haven't been any updates in 4 days or so…
