      Apple doesnt steal, just resells

      • +1

That’s a strange way to spell google

      • Like a true capitalist. :-)

I don't have any important data to be stolen, so works for me.

Only a sucker would pay 10 times this price for a phone.

      • Didnt Xiaomi move their servers to India to show they were independent from Govt. Control?

        • +1

That's probably worse for Australians as we have an extradition treaty with India but not China.

        • +1

Lol physical server location means nothing if the government still has access to them. Heck, they could still be mirrored back to China.

No worries, the CIA and associates are monitoring the CCP. Wait…you said "China", not CCP. Do you have problem(s) with China?

    • +2

So the ccp knows how many potatoes and TP rolls I buy ☹️. That is so spooky I wont sleep at night now!!
      Btw..
Your apple overpriced device is also assembled in china. Better burn it to be safe.

      • Designed in USA. Assembled in China.

The Chinese put it together like legos - they can’t tinker with the circuits and chips. The backdoor is in the designing phase inside chips. A software audit may not detect the backdoor meaning a vanilla plain android build doesn’t mean you are safe

        • Only worry about it if you are paranoid.

  • Would this be a good upgrade to my Xiaomi Mi A2? I really like this Mi A2 but I don't think they sell them anymore and this one is starting to fall apart due to my clumsiness. So I have to start looking for a new phone, but on a budget. I just want a good rear-facing camera and dual sim, preferably.

    • +1

It certainly would be an upgrade, albeit your A2 has Snapgradon v/s this Note 9 having MediaTek. Worth a thought if that matters to you, based on your usage.

Also, you may compare specs side-by-side for these two phones at GSM Arena: https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=10192&idPhone…

      • What's the difference between Snapdragon and MediaTek, if it can be summarised briefly? Otherwise I can research :) Thanks.

        • +1

Oh its a big debate. Summary: Two different compaines. Generally SD is what is preferred by most, although one may argue MT too is just fine enough. You can do your research as I cant generalise any further..

          • @djoz: Thanks :)

            • @Duckman: Mediatek is fine, if you want to put ROM's on there, then go SD.

Otherwise there are no real issues.

              • @appxl: Would this mean you wont be able to root the phone and put a custom ROM's on Mediatek devices?
Was specifically looking to pick this up to try out Lineage OS… Bit fed up with all the spywares disguised as enterprise softwares

                • @Jamessaba: Fake news. Dont sign up to a Mi account and you will be fine.
You get far more spyware with apps you install.

                • +1

                  @Jamessaba: Sorry, just saw this.

Mediatek isn't as popular for rom development so while they will probably exist, they will be slower to develop as most know how to develop for SD.

I really am sad they don't make this phone anymore. I love that it doesn't have a notch in the screen, because I never take selfies anyway, and the camera is really great.

  • Just in time to replace my Pokémon go androids.

  • This or 8T?

  • The specs sheet on their website doesn't say anything about B28 and B40. OP, can you confirm where you found out this info?

    • Spec Sheet, 4G Bands lists 700 Mhz.
Also, you may verify at the gsmarena link given in description.

Been flogged to death but lets go again.
All rn9 global version phones have 700mhz b28.
The ones sold by tobys are global and have b28.
Toby's are dead slack with their product details.
Search in here for that phone model for a lot more info. Also go to WP and look up the Xiaomi phone forum.
If you want the exact specs go to www.mi.com and look it up in their product list.

  • This is the response i got from Tobys when i questioned if my order had NFC. Seems some people are getting NFC models so YMMV

    Dear Customer,

Thank you for your email. As requested, we have cancelled your order from our system because the said item does not have NFC. Our finance team, will arrange the full refund back to your Paypal account within 1 working day

We apologize for any inconvenience it might have caused

  • Will Toby10 apply to this deal?

    • Nope. TOBY10 requires a min. cart value of $300.
Hence, it works with the Redmi Note 9 Pro ($325 listed price), but not on this Redmi Note 9 ($229 listed price).

  • Bought one anyway. Thanks!
