Amazon Delivery Times beyond Good and Evil? Only for Me?

Hey there,

am i the only one who is having incredibly slow postage times for Amazon items? Nothing arrives in less than a week, no matter if stocked item or not. The worst is that the items are shipped from about 30 to 50km away from where i live, one would assume this could be done within two to three business days.

Example:

Ordered 26 August
Shipped 27 August
Out for delivery
Arriving Thursday

Still no sign of it

  • Once it is shipped, it is out of Amazon's hands.

AUSPOST has been terrible recently. I have a few things that I get regularly. Usually takes 3 days. It is taking 2 weeks+ from date of dispatch.

    • Yeah, i realize that but funnily it is just Amazon's parcels that auspost seems to put on lowest priority. Ordered from other places too and everything arrived a lot faster.

      • Not really. Most of my stuff isn't from Amazon. Lots of work stuff.

It is not feasible for AUSPOST to differentiate and purposely stall parcels from certain retailers.

      • I've had the opposite experience, Amazon items seems to be prioritised for me and arrive within a couple days.

        • Yeah, most stuff I get from Amazon is incredibly quick.

        • Same here. Amazon packages come in 1 or 2 days. Not express but definitely some kind of priority. I got a non-amazon package delivered via actual express from like 10km away and it took longer.

        • Mine get shipped and basically delivered same day, however I live within a 20 minute drive of the Amazon warehouse in Moorebank … The guy who dropped off my book today did it in a Toyota Camry

  • Most couriers will await for more then one parcel to a certain area then go and deliver… Else they will wait extra 2-5 days at times..I know it's crap

  • Seems like an auspost problem. My Amazon stuff has been very quick as usual.

  • Was this with or without Amazon Prime?

    • With prime, average delivery about 7 to 10 business days

Out for delivery and then no delivery is frustrating…

No problem with Amazon, but I have a parcel sent through CouriersPlease, from Melbourne to Melbourne, and the parcel keeps changing from one driver to another, supposedly for delivery… It's been five days in this loop already… Parcel "accepted in depot", then "transferred to run", then "accepted in depot" (same depot) again… Their support is useless…
I've had issues with Australia Post as well, with parcels moving interstate before coming back, and another one stuck in NSW for ten days.

Couriers please are terrible. When I know that a company uses them I refuse to buy from them. Never had good experience with them

      • I wish I knew that…

*I haven't rescheduled anything, just contacted them saying I was available. Worst service ever.

    • Couriers Please are still being used by Amazon. I have three orders which have been shipped by CP. CP are also offloading to AusPost if they don't want to travel to your area. I can't recall where I saw that but it may be the CP (actually Aramex now) web site. I had a parcel recently from China that was using CP for the AU part of the delivery. CP said it was delivered on a Thursday (email) and it finally turned up on the following Tuesday. I raised a problem with CP and they were adament it had been delivered. I thought it was gone forever.

    here is ur problem "Vic"

for me, prime, i get everything in 2 days, some times faster!, NSW here

    • here is ur problem "Vic"

      Hey!

      Okay… :(

  • I’m in inner Melbourne, I get next day delivery.

    • I am in Point Cook, 18KM from the CBD. Not exactly somewhere in the bush…

      • It’s pretty damn far from Melbourne. There’s only one suburb past Point Cook and then you’re in fields. And Werribee used to be a country town where we pumped our sewerage out to. I hesitate to call it a suburb.

  • It all depends on whether your order is delivered by Amazon or by Aust Post. If the latter, expect delays, but the former, always on time. They seem to be swapping over to their own delivery more and more - which is great. In fact for a while now, my orders are all delivered by Amazon. Perhaps they are in the process of doing the same in your area.

With Amazon delivery, they also attach a photo of the parcel left at your address in the tracking. Compared to Aust Post, they seem to put more care and attention in the delivery, making sure the package is tugged away, shielded from weather and hidden from the road, etc. (or maybe the Amazon delivery people in my area just happened to be good, not sure).

    • I haven't had anything delivered by Amazon yet, it is always the same Auspost delivery guy.

  • Ordered a Samsung tab A last week for the old man for Father's Day… it hasn't even been sent yet…. darn it. Another package sent through Australia Post took 4 Business Days and that was in the same STATE! I know COVID is stuffing up deliveries but I had a package from Singapore arrive in 2-3 days…. fun….

  • I ordered an SSD off ebay yesterday, it came this morning.

Have made orders on Amazon lately and they have been taking longer to arrive.

    • Same here, ordered items from NSW and they arrived a lot faster than Amazon stuff that is about 50KM away from me.

  • Amazon usually gets delivered a day before or on their guaranteed date all the time for me.

    • I frequently get "it will arrive by 8pm today", which usually means it'll arrive tomorrow or the day after. Also frequent is the item arriving then a few hours later I get "your item is arriving today" followed a few minutes later by "it arrived".

    • That is what was normal until about a fortnight ago. Since then everything went nuts. 2 weeks delivery for a distance of 50KM aren't acceptable.

  • I still haven't figured out what makes things fast or slow. Feels like sometimes I order something interstate, two weeks later it shows up. Other times it arrives overnight. I think the default Australia Post option is a little slower than the Pony Express was. I kind of would choose any courier over Australia Post. Amazon stuff used to arrive overnight, like a random unmarked truck or van would show up and give me my whatever i ordered. That was before covid really started happening in Australia.

  • They use auspost and fastway
    Enough said.

    • +1

That's the thing. Majority uses Auspost and from everyone else parcels arrive a lot faster than from Amazon from some odd reason.

  • Australia Post mentioned their Melbourne distribution center is closed or understaffed due to the lock down. My parcel from Melbourne went via the Sydney distribution center to SA. Everything between WA and SA is fast but parcels from the east are taking a bit longer. Amazon Prime Australia is still fast for me. Prime from the UK took 6 days.

  • This isnt america, yet 👍👍

    • Thanks for sharing, we didn;t know that.

  • It really depends on what you're buying. Some of them are super fast and some are slow.

Some of my orders arrived exactly the next day. And I am in Perth WA
