    Bagged😷

    • +1

Bagged vacuums are not bad. I have this, I use every2-3 days and I change the bags every 6months.

      • +1

Your home must be very tidy!

        • No, not really. What I observed is that Miele vacuum bags are big. and I use a cheap Kmart vacuum clear for the kitchen and main hall which are tiled.

      • Small place?

        • probably yes, compared to the other places in our area. Its a 4-bedroom house (most of the other houses are 2 storey our's a single storey). but only I and my wife live there. We don't have pets. It's only my wife's shedding (hair) I have to vacuum.

      • How often do you vacuum for a change every 6 months?! Is your place tiny? I've never had a miele, but any other bagged vac for me never lasts that long.

        • I have 2 vacuums. Kmart one which I found on the street and fixed. The other one is Miele. Miele vacuum is used for 4 bedrooms and living room. Kitchen and main hallway are tiled so I used the Kmart one. I vacuum every 2-3 days before mopping. The vacuum bags in the Miele vacuums are very huge compared to the Kmart vacuum. I bought it for 143$ from Bing Lee, last December.

Bagged is better, it's less messy than bagless.

Ives used bag less dyson for 10 years and am quietly hoping it dies so I can go back to bagged.

Bagged: Lift bag out, place in garbage bin.

      • Just sell it then

  • Does this model have a telescopic wand where you can extend and contract? Looking at reviews on goggle, it was $199 a few months ago.

    • -2

      from pics, its clearly telescopic.

      • +3

Just checked Miele website, this model doesn't have adjustable telescopic wand. Good that this is still made in Germany. I got the C3 a few years back. Better than my Dyson.

        • +2

cordless is good for touchups … miele is great for deep clean.

    • +1

I have this. You can't extend the wand. Yes made in German. Very solid and it sucks.

  • Yeah, we've had this now for 4 years with 0 problems. Granted we have a small place but I can easily imagine this would do just fine in a larger place with more frequent bag changes. I think the only situation I probably would have preferred C3 is if you had pets.

Much better than non-cordless Dyson that we had before (It was second hand so technically not a fair comparison but still)

Just bought C3 Complete Allergy model for $350 from the Miele Clearance Store in Brisbane.

Brand new with 2years warranty, just the box was damaged. Hence the price.

They also had C1 for $195 and C2 for $245.

Please check Miele clearance store in your area, it might be cheaper there.

Also, if you have access to Good Guys Commercial, they also have somewhat of a discount going.

Bags are bit of an added expense but the suction power is unbeatable.

Apparently these are amazing compared to a dyson.

I never thought I could love a vacuum cleaner like this but I’m sure others have in the past with dire consequences. If you want to save on the dust getting into the bag grab one of these
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/173904531351
If you want a cheap turbo head plonk one of these on it as well. It works a treat.
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/160941593781

    • I basically turned my old bagged vac into a bagless with that contraption. Gone through 2, each lasted about 5 years before cracking, so not bad for 25 dollars. Have had my eyes on the bagless Miele, but you do present a good argument for staying bagged.

      • 10 years sounds like a bargain to me. Once you bang a turbo brush on you’re good to go.

      • Does it actually work as a bagless? As i am guessing the intercepter just collects the dust and not the debris?
Or did you just remove the bag and let the debris collect in the area where the bag should be?

Thinking about doing the same but worried it might be bit more dusty

        • you def need to keep a bag in there, but hardly anything goes into it. The majority goes into the interceptor, and as my vac got on in yrs (15+yrs electrolux), the filter in the bagged area would just need a clean more often.

          • @DamonT: Thats pretty awesome! I am hoping there are no repercussions of doing this.

Might just order it with some bags from ebay.

            • @morpheous: There is definitely nothing obvious that the interceptor does in a negative way. My vac is still going, but it's on its last legs I reckon. In all that time I've replaced the HEPA once and the inner filters once. But I really want a Miele. I'm still leaning towards the bagless blizzard esp if I can get it cheap.

              • +2

@DamonT: I did a lot of research and followed the advice on this post - https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/7gmsoe/iama_reddits_o…

Best of luck with your purchase!

                • @morpheous: Thanks for the link. I know I should probably get a bagged…

                • @morpheous: …and then I read this bit to make my choice hard again…
"These reasons combined with everything mentioned in my copypasta above are why I argue that bagged vacs are better.

That being said, Miele's new bagless canister system is a genuine game changer. It seems to be able to genuinely make the claim that it performs as well as their best bagged models. We shall see if that truly comes to pass."

That was written 2 years ago. So I'll have to dig up if he followed up on that.

                • @morpheous: Here are his latest thoughts:

What do you think about new bagless vacuum from Miele?

I'm really not a fan. I think it was a stupid idea and waste of R&D money.

                  And

I think it was a huge mistake to even develop such a thing. It's far superior to other bagless vacuums, but has issues that would keep me from going near it. Bad, bad idea.

                  • +1

@DamonT: You did some proper research there!

Yeah probably stay away from it, let me know how you go.

                    • @morpheous: Yeah a lot of ppl trust this guy, and it seemed he genuinely thought Miele could do a good bagless, but in the end, it's still much better to just go bagged. I'm going to target a C3 model - no need for the cat/dog, but I like the allergy model.

                      • @DamonT: Yeah and he seemed to know what he was talking about so.

Yeah i have the c3 allergy model, would totally recommend it.

    • Can anyone clarify/verfiy that you need the XL version to fit the Miele? Are Miele hoses/tubes bigger than normal?

      • +1

I just grabbed a turbo head that says fits Miele

        • Sorry I meant the interceptor. my current vac nozzle is 30mm at the end, and that tapers into a 32mm telescopic tube. A few of the ebay descriptions mention they may not suit Miele, but min did come with a few adapters (which I've kept). Do you mind confirming what the diameters of your Miele nozzle/tube are?

          • @DamonT: 1.4cm for the nozzle going into the injector and 1.6cm the bottom part going into the bottom part. I suggest you ask the buyer if it fits Miele

            • @bennybaubles: Wow that's actually half the size! I'd really like to check the vac out in person…but…VIC.

  • Anyone with hints on where to get cheaper Miele vacuum bags?

    • ebay

  • How do you determine suction power of a vacuum cleaner?

For shop vacs, you often see measurements like PSI for suction or L/s for airflow etc. But With home vacuums like this one, I don't seems to able to find such measurements.

It’s called air watts. But most vacuums will have sufficient air watts. Just as important is airflow and agitation. And few other variables.

Really all that important is does vacuum do good job. And Miele bagged canisters (and uprights if they still sold them)are probably one the best vacuum cleaners you can get for sucking up dirt and filtering that dirt so it doesn’t come out again. So your house is clean.

  • Can you empty and reuse the bags a few times before chucking them?
