    What language is the GUI?
Does its user need to download the latest firmware?

Please stop saying GST free - it's GST included which is the standard practice in Australia. The ATO might come knocking if you keep saying it's GST free

    • +1

At least they'll be knocking on their doors not ours lol

      • -1

and yours to collect the 10% if it is claimed GST free

        • -1

No lol that is the sellers responsibility not the buyer.

    • OK

Does it have vlan tagging for TPG group?

  • Now China can have all your data with super fast speeds.

    • All good. Our master, the USA, have China's data.

    • Because our phones aren't already fast enough.

    • +1

No. We have the nbn, so no super fast speeds here!

BTW, not the latest AC standard, and the latest standard is AX (WiFi 6)

Remember to set your WiFi app to connect to mainland china!

  • Redmi router is far better and only ~$20 more. OpenWRT

  • Can open source firmwares be installed on this?

I would have thought they stopped manufacturing these ones already in favour of the 4Q/4A/4A Gigabit. (Which Xiaomi still have product pages for. This one… does not anymore?)

Surprised there's still stock of these around.

Just looking at the specifications, it appears that 4A (the one you linked to), has

      • MediaTek MT7628DA processor which is single core at 580MHz (vs MT7621A dual core at 800Mhz)
      • 64MB memory (vs 128MB memory)
      • 100Mbps LAN port (vs 1Gbps)

      So cheaper & slower.

      • Thanks Scotty!

  • Just realized that there are articles about privacy/security breaches on xiaomi phones and routers. Not sure how true they are but I wouldn't be too surprised that they are collecting data. GUI is in chinese and I couldn't find any firmware to update. After finding out about the privacy/security issues, abandoning this product. Also, the app is somewhat suspicious.

  • NOT 'the latest 802.11ac WiFi standard' that would be AX
