360 WEB BROWSER is one of the most well-known Safari alternatives in the App Store, so check it out before its price goes up!

It has many unique features; a few examples are:

  • Firefox sync
  • Download Manager
  • Themes
  • Tabs
  • Media player
  • Dropbox integration
  • Multi-touch gestures
  • Social sharing
  • Full screen
  • Ad block

METEORIC VIDEO

In memory of Steve Jobs, Digital Poke have dropped the price of this fantastic app to a low price of $0 (usually 99c). I can personally confirm that it's the only other App Store app which lets you download YouTube videos (shhhh - don't tell Apple!) so don't miss out – grab it before it (or its YouTube functionality) gets pulled, or its price goes up!

NOTE: If you would like it for your iPad, install the HD version instead: http://itunes.apple.com/app/meteoric-video-downloader/id4411…

    thanks dude!

    • no worries :)

  • The link in the OP to the Appstore is not working

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/goto/56477

    • It's working for me as of right now.

  • How good are third party browsers in iOS? I always thought that Apple restricted changing browsers due to the closed system.

    • There is no mechanism to change the default apps in iOS (unless you jailbreak), but you can still install them.
It depends what your needs are; some people can't do without 3rd party browsers due to the added features, while others (like me) prefer the simplicity & reliability of Safari.

I use the free browsers atomic lite and vanilasurf, can't go back to default.

Will check this out. Thanks op

      • welcome!

    • Yeah, Apple restricts all web browsers that are not based on Webkit. All browsers in the app store are just reskinned from Safari with added features.

That wasn't his question… "I always thought that Apple restricted changing browsers due to the closed system." (emphasis mine)
Anyway, that's not true – see: Opera.

        • No, Opera Mini interprets code on the server not the device itself therefore it can circumvent the appstore rules.

        • Yes I know - I was referring to your latter point: "All browsers in the app store are just reskinned from Safari with added features."

Thanks! The youtube thing sounds great as well!

    • no woz, bro. yeh downloading YouTube videos beats having to stream them on a crappy connection, then having to re-stream them if you want to watch it again.

  • I have Ipod touch 4 will this app help me somehow, I'm not that tech savvy

    • well if you wanna try out a different browser to Safari, try out 360 Web Browser. if you want to be able to download files or videos straight from your device, try out Meteoric Downloader.

  • can i have 360 web browser and safari both loaded onto ipod touch at same time or do i only have choice of one browser?

    • you can have as many browsers installed as you like. it just installs like a normal app – it doesn't become the default browser.

  • Can you pls show me how to download Youtube video?

      1. Go to YouTube (make sure it's the mobile YouTube site)
      2. Go to the video you'd like to download.
      3. Tap the "down arrow" in the top right corner (see here: http://cl.ly/BcIl)
      4. Tap the left button on the window that pops up
      5. Type a file name or tap "ok" for the default file name that the server gives.
      6. Done!
To see your download queue, tap the button with the down arrow in the middle, on the bottom toolbar.

On the website, it says: Free
On the iTunes store, it says: $0.99 Buy App

    Weird…?

    SS: http://i.joeylau.com/2011/11/iTunes-07_04.42.36.png

    • That's really odd. Try installing it straight from your iPhone.

      • Comes up as $0.99 on my phone

  • not free, 99c

    • It was free when I got it, and the website says it's free…

  • Is this one of those deals where it is only free via your iTunes store on your PC? It states its $0.99c via my app store on the 4s.

    • I got it via iPhone App Store for free yesterday… :\
