Photoshop Lightroom 3 for Windows or Mac $136.40

310

One of the best bang for buck photo editing software you can get. Now even better at this price. Price listed is for the download version, you can get the box and CD for extra.

Price drop is probably because Lightroom 4 is about to come out. But since you can upgrade later, it will still be worth it.

Wish I'd know this before I paid $99 for Aperture…oh well, good deal!

    • YES!! lol I have done the same thing. Think i'll still get it though..

    • I used discounted iTunes gift cards to buy Aperture from the Mac App Store, so I got it for effectively $50. No regrets here. :)

  • So do you guys prefer Lightroom over Aperture? I'm curious which one to start using

    Thanks!

i have only ever used Adobe products. And they have served me well for the last 5 years. Lightroom just makes everything so easy.

I suggest you get the demo of each and decide that way.

I have both, but I prefer Lightroom.

They both do exactly the same stuff, and both programs are used by professionals so you can't really go wrong with either. It's really six of one half a dozen of the other IMO.

Aperture has better control over levels, a less cluttered interface and what I believe to be slightly nicer photo management.

Lightroom has noise reduction which is nothing short of incredible, a ton of lens profiles, awful cluttered interface but its all about the function not the form here, photoshop integration that's seamless, and the DNG file format which embeds your edits within the RAW file. I bought both for $99 (student discount on Lightroom) and I basically used both for 2-3 months before uninstalling Aperture and going with Lightroom.

  • isn't lightroom 4 just around the corner? wonder if you get a free upgrade with this purchase.

is it ??? i thought they just recently released 3.5… 4 would be at least a year away…

Lightroom is really handy for people who want to process a LARGE number of files with minimum touch up.
It was a bit of a learning curve for me, but it is a very powerful software. It reduced processing with with Photoshop. If you do not need to do fancy photoshop stuff like turning a cow into a horse, Lightroom is a great software at a fraction of the price.

    It's only $124,

if you choose to download rather than have the box shipped…

    • That's excluding GST, jv.

      • That's strange. on the site it says $136.40 inc GST. But i just got an invoice from Adobe which says $124 inc GST.Can't see how much has been debited from my credit card yet

        • Yeah, just noticed that too. Went through the cart to the final stage with "place order" button and it never added GST for me either. Strange of them to say "$136.40 inc GST" but then never charge it; this seems to be Adobe's Australian store, too.

      • It actually says on the site:

"Save time and GST – choose delivery by electronic download"

        • -1

probably because you are buying from outside of Australia…

better buy it quick before Jooooolia imposes a carbon tax on it…

        • oh Come on jv!

          A carbon tax joke? Really?

          BTW I didn't neg you

    • JV is right. The GST is not charged for the download hence the price of $124. Awesome deal, thanks OP.

    • Yes, agreeed. I bought it when the price drop happened.

      • yep, this is probably their normal price now…

  • can you upgrade to 3.5 for free?

    • Yes, the upgrade to 3.5 is free.

Don't bother with the boxed version, you pay GST plus delivery. And all you get is a DVD in a box.

        It's a nice box though…

  • +1

Anyone notice the upgrade pricing? Save a whole 25c if you already own Lightroom 1 or 2.

    • +1

if you invest that 25c for 50 years at 5% though, it will grow to $2.87 !!!

      • and with an inflationary rate of 4% (assuming it stays the same - it'll probably grow in the next 50 years), you'll be left with only 1% pa interest rate, leaving you with a 2011 worth (comparing 2011 25 cents with whatever you'll have at teh end) and you have $0.41.

  • such a good price….

I just purchased off ebay for $185….boohoo
